IIRC, Ridley is the last of his species.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
heh.

no wonder they revive him everytime Samus kills him

*wonders if he'll be back after Fusion*
Mister ...
Most likely.  Ridley's a favorite among all the kids these days.  (and teens, and elderly, and adults, and ... All metroid fans alike.) Ridley will find a way to come back.  He always does. Original, cloned, Fused with Phazon, X parasites, etc.  Maybe it'll be the spawn of Ridley (somehow ridley will end up as a girl, omfg, and will have layed an egg somewhere.  Who knows) With the Metroid series, you just never know.
I believe that MP3 will be initiated by Samus on her own.  Not as a job but just through sheer curiosity.  MP was because of a distress signal.  MP2E she sees the marines are dead so therefore her mission is complete, but then she thinks back to her ship. "Man it's still repairing, I need to kill some time.  I wonder if this planet is undergoing some vast internal struggle integral with phazon?"

She uses the orbits/systems (for the gravity wells, etc.) of both Tallon IV and Aether to trace back both phazon meteors along their projected paths.  The place at which they are closest or intersect would be the most promising for investigation.  She decides that phazon is dangerous and she feels somewhat personally involved due to all the Chozo Prophecies about her and the phazon (Tallon IV).

This leads to a star system FULL of Phazon planets, and she needs to explore each one somewhat separately.  She should also gain wepons to refit her gunship with.

Perhaps this race that supposedly created phazon as a clean powersource was also the one that was wiped out by Gorea (Phazon planet was an outpost in Samus's galaxy or something)?  And in this fashion it ties Hunters to the Main Prime Series.  Also at the end of MP3 she receives a communique from GalFed about wiping out the remaining metroids, which would then tie the Prime series back into the Metroid Series as a whole.

Of course plot-holes (such as those involving Adam) will have to be worked on.  Maybe not in this game, but the next.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
I'd rather it take place on one planet.  The multiple planets thing in MPH made the game feel disconnected.  Wasn't cohesive enough, if you ask me.

maybe Adam will appear in MP3 :O

they could come up and say Ridley is a girl just going by the scream it does :p

the most likely scenario is that the Federation sees the danger on Phazon and gives Samus the mission of seeking the Phazon's origin and then eradicating it.

and if Metroids play a big role in MP3, then i bet they'll use that as the Federation's motivation to give Samus the mission to go to SR388 and whip it clean.

hm the Federation people are a bunch of pussies. sending Samus to take care of everything they can't handle in all games (they can't handle anything it seems :p)
Except for Cloning metroids under a secretive silence.  THey were pretty good at that.

Personally I think the Federation(it's government anyway) is just like the space pirates.  Wants power.  They just go through it a bit more diplomatically.

If The FEds had destroyed Samus's home and made her an orphan she would probably joined the Pirates War Effort.  The games sure would have been easier that way...

Ridley:  SCREAM!! Oh, it's just you Samus.  Try not stepping on my tail next time.

Samus: Okay. *hehehe*

Additionally, there would likely be far less Sequence Breaking - which would suck.
different planets didn't make hunters linear. if anything we should be afraid of something more like fusion.

i bet that the Federation was tired of being pussies by the time they cloned Metroids (that must have happened between SM and Fusion) and that's why they did that.
they said it was for peaceful applications too (remember the SM intro) but in the same way the were hiding the cloning, they might hide something else. maybe use the Metroids as their army to fight the Pirates and other enemies since GF troopers are very weak :p
How's this for an ending? This assumes three things.

First, that phazon is artificial. Second, That the gunship will be like in the initial trailer. Third, that the Space Pirates are involved.

In a phazon covered city (possibly the origin of phazon, if its artificial), you fight  Dark Samus. At the end of the fight DS gets pushed into a fission reactor of some sort (thus FINALLY killing the darn thing).
A message displays on the screen (or a voice reads the lines ala fusion.)

"Danger! Excesses material in reactor. Critical mass imminent. Lockdown in <insert>"

Instead of the usual flash when the timer hits 0:00, the doors just lock, and the flash comes a few seconds later (maybe 5-10, enough time for you to register what happened and go "Gunship!")

If you do reach the ship, Samus lifts off and you watch the city/continent/planet go boom. You almost don't make it but the missile pods eject, allowing the ship to get clear. Then another message is given.

"Pirate frigate detected leaving system. Phazon evident on sensors"

Samus decides to end this here, and you board the frigate for a surprise end section. Scans of  computers (I agree with whoever said earlier that screens should be scanable or not there at all) show logs about "massive phazon resistance" and "large dosage". You work through the frigate until you come to a large cargo area similar to where you see Ridley in MP1.

The doors lock and one wall lifts away to reveal... Kraid! (I know you saw it coming but hey :D ) He's huge and has lots of spammy attacks and all that other stuff you expect from a final boss. You fight Kraid, go to the reactor, smash some stuff (maybe a fight with security drones of some kind) and generally set it to explode (maybe have "TIME BOMB SET. GET OUT QUICK"...or not) another countdown, you escape, end pic of topless zoomer etc.

I think this would close the Prime trilogy nicely. You kill DS, finally fight Kraid in 3-D (Nature trail to hell), you have a nice little prologe ending the series where it began, and the ship is back to normal.

from USBCD36. I think that a boss battle that doesn't alert you to the fact you're battling a boss until halfway through would be good.

Like walking along fighting those stupid tentacles, and you get to the end but the walls get ripped away and there this big ugly thing, all ticked at the unwanted manicure. That would rock.

Hejira says: Maybe the Phazon combo beam can only be shot once, and shot at just the right spot. That would be awesome, adding a further sense of drama to the final boss battle.

this intruiges me...
Why stop at a game? Why not make a movie too?Anybody know when the 3rd game comes out? I really want it!!!!

What, Metroid Prime 3? Sometime after the Wii is released.
l'appel du vide
According to the latest EGM, MP3 will be released in '07.
Armor Guardian
I could have sworn that MP3 was a launch title for the Wii.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
no one said that mp3 would launch with the Wii

i love how people assume things and then get disappointed when the assumption turns out to not be true.

i guessed 2007 since the beginning because they had barely started development by E3 last year and you can't make a game like mp3 in 1.5 years (look at what happened to mp2 because of the rushing...)
I was thinking... Will  multiplayer be worth it? Maybe all the space should be dedicated to the single player adventure and make it rock. It is nice to make some changes once in a while like MPH but they shouldn't stray too far from Metroid tradition. Metroid is a classic and for classics tradition is important. So I think the developers should sacrifice the multiplayer feature and focus everything on single-player so it would rock like an earthquake.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
probably the extended development time is to make both single and multiplayer modes well-developed, so we get the best of both worlds (awesome 1p mode + online kickass multiplayer)
(user is banned)
What are some new things you would like to see in MP3?

-I'd like to see the ability to grapple onto enemies. that would be beautiful.

-Permanent Phayzawn Beam.

-More turrets in the game. not just one area.

-Screw attack without only having to go forward (we know this wont happen though because Retro Studios is making the game).

-Some sort of Jetpack would be ownage.  No useless items like the gravity booster or the echo visor. (again, unlikely to happen)

-Of course, we all know that there will be a phazon suit in the game.  I hope they dont make it black again though.  As sweet as it would look, i want another idea put in instead.

-I'd like less keyquesting, and more adventureing.  Sure, maybe a few keys should be mandatory, but not 12, unless they fit in the route like in MP.

-No LOL enemy names (warrior ing, hunter ing, inglet, ingstorm, etc)

-More areas that all interconnect. Metroid Prime was HUGE, and MP3 should be a whole lot bigger and better, to make the series go out with a BANG.

-Speaking of going out with a BANG, Samus needs to utterly destroy the planet with 50 nuclear warheads or something.  It needs to make a huge explosion that i can just sit back and laugh at.

-No more Dark Samus after this game (as in no more "mission complete?" things).

-Dark Samus generally the same, but with better powers.

-Harder than MP2.

MULTIPLAYER

-up to AT THE VERY LEAST 8 people at once fighting. No samus in the battles. Have it teams, and make it so that you get like, a group of Gfeds and a group of Ing, and a group of Space Pirates, and a group of something else. Samus vs. Samus vs. Samus is boring. the SWBF2 system would work too, if someone was doing well, they could become samus (or dark samus or something else) for some amount of time.

-the usual modes. Assault, Prime Hunter, CTF, slayer, rumble slayer, KOTH

-double damage, deathhalt, etc.

-Custom games

-As many maps as Hunters.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
but what if the game rocks too much? they could extend the Prime timeline and make mp4 later if mp3 is really sucessful.
lazylen, do not use "gay" in a pejorative way per the forum rules.
I vote for http://img290.imageshack.us/my.php?image=darksamusconcept6pk.png this to be the new ultimate suit.

Huge, interconnected areas would be nice, as would being able to use your ship to move around (like the Epoch in Chrono Trigger).  Don't make it instantly able to go anywhere (like the Epoch could  Rolling Eyes ), but once-you-visit-an-area kind of thing.  Then again, being able to visit an area early (but not really do anything significant because you lack the requisite weapons/suit/secondary items/etc… would be a nice touch.

I believe the main thing that could make MP3 pwn is a crazily complex battle.  Not something stupidly hard (like the boost guardian was the first few times through for most), but something that you learn how to fight while fighting, and gain some abilities, such as a power grip-like wall hanging thingy.  These types of abilities are hardly possible with the GameCube controller, but using the Rev (I don't care what Nintendo says, or anyone else; I'm calling it the Revolution.  Most of my friends had actually decided the same thing on their own as well.) controller, it would be possible to do a quick jump backwards and hold onto a wall or something to that effect.  Just hold down a button to grip the wall, then release to fall.  Aiming and other things work normally.

That's all I can think of now, but there's probably some other things that will come to mind later.
Woah, we have a MP3 forum now.

And what do we think "Corruption" means?
Since the game concerns Phazon, I feel that it means exactly what it's supposed to. The two places that we've seen Phazon, Tallon IV and Aether, were "Corrupted" by it. At this time, Prime 3 is supposed to be the final part of the Prime series, so it makes sense to me.

Too bad flickerbatting Dark Samus is in this one again (although, we've known that since Echoes). I'm already tired of her.
