...gah, way to crush someone's dream.
Wait, what? Your dream was to have a Parasite Queen remake in MP3? You're confusing me..!
my dream was to have Samus fight a machine that have the Wave Beam, and only the wave beam could pass through the barrier and Samus has to find a hole in the barrier, and blast the machine.
Look, witty text!
It should be something that you have practically no chance against head-on; thus, you would have to run and hide from it in a maze-like room, and then use the X-Ray Visor and Wave Beam to hit it from behind the safety of a wall or other form of cover.

Thing is, it'll be searching around for you, so you have to keep moving.  Firing at it also gives away your location, triggering your persuer to literally break down the walls.  Making loud noises or other stuff could also give you away.

It'd be a neat fight, for sure: you'd have an advantage in that you can see through walls and hit it from behind them--but if you let it get close enough to attack, you're as screwed as a ripper after Ridley-X is beaten in Fusion.
A boss I'd love with X-Ray + Wave beam in mind would be something that's inside the walls. That might even be more fit for a regular enemy now that I think about it.
an enemy that can only be damaged when the x-ray visor is on.

Um... that's both a spammy me-too post, and Omega Pirate.
everybody knows it's true
A way to expound Mister Chief's idea is to have a new addon for the grappling beam being able to grab objects gravity-gun style. That way, you can grab a shield used by a helping space pirate and use it to reflect the wave beam shot by the robot for massive (and the only way to do) damage.
I want to see a darker universe. 'Nuff said.

How cliche. :/
I fail to see how that's cliched...Also, these things:
  • Better enemy names..."Sporb?" "Grenchler?" Who comes up with these names?
  • Replace "Power Suit" with "Chozo Battlesuit"
  • Replace "Power Beam" with "Pulse Beam"

i agree with the names but

wzf! why change something that is standard since the 1st game?
also, pulse beam sounds lame as a new name for the power beam. pulse beam sounds like an electricity thing that shoots pulses.
I kind of came up with it off the top of my head. But I never gave much thought to it, as I know the Power Beam as "that one beam..." But if I were to make a fangame, I would call it the Chozo Battlesuit. Sounds much more serious, and a lot more badass, don't you think?
It's not strictly a battle suit, though. In fact, I'd almost say its primary use is exploration of hostile environments. The primary upgrades are, after all, various solutions to exploring new areas. Morph ball, varia, gravity, grapple beam...

The being-able-to-take-more-damage thing is just a very welcome bonus.

But, yes. The names in Echoes sucked a whole goddamn lot. OMG IT'S A BLOGG, BETTER FLEE! OH NO A SPORB SWARM!!

Truth be told, all Metroid names are kinda silly, but the ones in Echoes were just horrible. It's like "Alright, we've got a bubbly creature here... it needs a name! You have three seconds to come up with a name! Any name, give me a name!"

no names like the 2D games sounds more appealing now huh?

they also couldn't come up with names for the guardians.

hopefully, they find cool names for the mp3 enemies.

What did that error message say about the suit when you were engulfed by the Ing in Echoes?  After Dark Samus shattered the crystal...

...Chozo Battle Suit

(insert "oh noes, my stuff" stuff here)

It looks like we have a winner here, heh. (Okay, so there's an extra space. Who cares?)

It really got worse in Hunters.  Slench?  Psycho Bit?  What is this, Tron?

What exactly are you talking about? I'm confused...

is in Echoes. So, yes, it IS technically called a Chozo Battle Suit.
Oh...

But it's still officially known as the Power Suit, not the Chozo Battlesuit. now if it was officially called the Chozo Battlesuit, then Metroid would be a cooler game in my opinion.

Maybe if the game had cooler names in general, and had a more Halo-esque soundtrack (more orchestra, less techno), then people would stop looking down on the series.

Really? Would the entire gaming experience really be improved that much because of one name change?

>.< Why don't you just go play Halo, then? Metroid is not supposed to be like other FPSs with "cool" names and "cool" music. The series is selling just fine without trying to be "cool". And do the people who "look down" on the series really matter? Everyone likes different types of games, and people who like more standard FPS, like Halo, can play and love them all they want. They don't have to like Metroid. If you'd rather play Metroid, great. And if you like both, that's fine, too.
Whoa, deep breaths.

I'm just saying that the game would sell better if it was a little more adult oriented, and orchestral music can help it be more adult-oriented. Now I'm not saying that Metroid should be like Halo. I like the fact that they are vastly different games. And I'm also not saying that Metroid should include grotesque sex scenes between Samus and some Federation trooper, or have a Space Pirate's head explode while his internal organs fly everywhere (although that would kick some serious ass). I'm only saying that Metroid should stray away from younger teens and start focusing more on the older teens.

If you got confused, I understand.

Take a look at the ages of a lot of us around here: Sure, there are plenty of teenagers, but there are quite a few older fans of Metroid here. I'm 20 years old and Metroid remains my favorite game series.

I love FPS games, but Halo has never appealed to me. It seems too focused on mindless killing. I prefer FPS games like Half-Life that involve story and puzzle elements while fighting off enemies. (Which is probably why I love Metroid Prime so much, besides the fact that it retains the feel of 2D Metroid games almost flawlessly.)
*sigh* Everyone has to take what I say and turn it against me.

Look, no offense, but do you know what we are? METROID FANBOYS/GIRLS. Of course we'd like the series, no matter what they do to it. But look at it from a normal person's perspective. In other words, put yourself in a non-fanboy/girl's shoes... "Grizby?" "Rezbit?" "Sporb!?" Add on the rather strange techno music we've come to love and the other strange things about Metroid, and the person won't pick it up.

Do you know why Halo did so well? Because of it's it's characters, story, and score. The Halo theme song is all too familiar to any gamer, no matter what game they're a fan of. If Nintendo gave the characters [a lot] more personality, a better storyline (they've gotten this down...the MP3 story kicks ass), and redo that famous score (we all know the Metroid title theme) with an actual orchestra, then the game will most likely surpass Halo 3 in popularity, sales, and fans.

Whew, that's the longest post I've ever written. I need a break.
