I have another problem now: In the escape sequence in the 1st room you have to go through speedbooster blocks, just before the exit of the room it appears you have to diagonally shinespark to get to the exit.  Is there a way of going through there without diagonally shinesparking??  Maybe I should assign the diagonal-ups to the L2 and R2 of my controller if the diagonal shinespark is required??

Once I make it through the escape route, I'll probably post my time and percent.  Let's just say ZephyrZx will no longer be listed as the one who played through the game with the longest time....  Another playthrough will definately be required.
hey guys i need help....

I downloadet this hack and patched it with lunar ips.

I used Super Metroid (JU). smc and my emulator is snex9.

but it doesn´t work....  :( can anybody help me pls!!! Embarassed
is your ROM unheadered?  The patch only works with unheadered ROMs
Lol! i just realized biggestschnoz quoted me xd hahaha

Anyways, speaking about the kind of rom, i've noticed most of the hackers around use unheadered roms, i know you can check if its headered or not by checking the file size, i THOUGH i had a unheadered version but it isn't... at least i have smile that lets me open and remove the header, but sometimes when a hack is locked you can't do it :/

Any way to find and download a unheadered rom and NOW that its unheadered? or its just a trial and error thing :<

thx, where can i download a unheadered rom? :( Question Question Question
Yo.
Itachi_Kun: Don't. And don't ask us those kinds of questions, please. Warez are forbidden!

*coughcough* Yeah. Go and get yourself a copy of SNESTool, and use that to unheader your rom. Much more reliable than searching for one, because you can do it easily and within the comfort of your own intranet.

It's also more reliable for header work than SMILE...

Zhs2: SMILE can remove headers just fine, not sure why you're calling it unreliable. Only an idiot could screw it up. And don't mini-mod. :|

Itachi_Kun: between what Zhs2 mentioned (SNESTool) and my idea (SMILE) you should have no trouble removing a header. Don't know how to use SNESTool, but you can get SMILE from Jathy's website and you can remove headers under the Tools menu.
Yo.
Sorry, I've got my reservations for SMILE's header jobs. It sure screwed up a SM rom I'd tried to header a while ago. But, meh. Your choice...

Uh. SMILE will specifically say "I think this already has a header" or "This file doesn't look like it has a header" before letting you add or remove one. There's no possible way to screw this up. :|
THANKS to all who helped me, and sorry for beeing so silly  :P :-D

Yo.
Yeah, but the rom was beyond recovery after I'd added the header. Like, certain game components and summat were trashed afterwards; I'd compared the rom with a clean one and saw other changes that shouldn't possibly have been true if only a headering had taken place. It was a very weird case, and SNESTool never did that to me. Sorry if I seem so hostile to SMILE...

EDIT: Sorry, meant added rather than removed up there.
Sounds like you removed/added a header on an already headerless/headered rom.
Yo.
That may be very well true, but I still don't understand how you can screw up the data in parts farther than 200 bytes in without removing the "header" multiple times. Very odd, very odd. It still confuses me to this very day. :|

It's because emulators are programmed to check for headers and ignore them, but not to check for multiple headers. If the first $200 bytes is a header, the ROM will work. If it's one byte more or less, it won't.

Nothing personal, it's just frustrating when someone suggests SMILE can't handle something fine, when the problem is usually user error.
Theres also a nifty program called NSRT thats easy to use for adding/removing headers, its not as easy as SMILE though.
actually, adding a header with smile makes the game crash whenever you're shooting and walking at the same time. I don't know if this is fixed or not in smile 1.32, but it definitely did that 1.23.
are we off topic?
Its your topic bro, you're in charge? xd

Okay, fine, if you're using OLD versions of SMILE, it has bugs. There's no excuse for that now, though. :|

It's a bit off-topic, though, so let's let it die.

Schnoz: Just use L and R. They're very handy buttons anyway.

The room before that room has a secret, check the ceiling. If the game crashes, download the new patch on the first page.
