Thanks, Bloodsonic, Acheron86, and ZephyrZx!! I also just discovered I can grapple to the next higher grapple block on the same side repeatedly until the grapple blocks end, sweet. That's something I'm sure the majority of us already knew though. And about needing the ice beam higher up on top of the room?? I'll keep it in mind when I get there. Thanks!! grin new

(of course, I'll have to master the technique but is cool when done)

IMO: There were a few frustrating spots but it got better as it went on towards the end. :)

Edit: That one room with the still zoomer... I'm sure I got to the top most door by doing a gravity jump. It was close, but I know I got past it without the gravity suit and ice beam. I could never seem to wall jump out of the water to make it up there. :-?

Zoomer? You mean the ripper, right? I wouldn't know about gravity jump, but you can use the speed booster to get to the top right door. Early power bombs! :D

The gravity jump is when you jump in a room with no water, then enter a room with water. You can really fly! :P

But using the speed booster from the lowest level to get up there?....

Oh, of course. I never bothered to try that in my first play through since I didn't intend to sequence break.

Anyway, you can get up there by gravity jumping too. First you just gravity jump out of the first room and turn around so you reach the door above (the metroids will not interrupt your path). Then you gravity jump out of that room to the right. You have to jump at the right instant, which is not at the last possible instant but just a little before it. If done correctly you will fly towards the upper right door in the next room, below the ripper so you reach the wall, then one wall jump gets you up :D

But I still think speed booster is easier.

Hi, I've reached a point I'm not sure if I should proceed or not. After I got the wave baem, I went and defeated Spore Spawn and saw there's a save point directly above. In the room the the right, I got another thing of missiles and one energy tank and made sure I saved at full health. My problem is I only have two energy tanks and let's just say the area to the right of the save point is a bit toasty. Did I miss the gravity suit somewhere?? Or did I miss a third energy tank somewhere?? At this point, if I have to proceed through there my timing probably has to be perfect, if it's even possible with two energy tanks.... Thanks for any help. :-)

Right now, I'm tempted to use the speed booster in the area mentioned by SleepingSeaweed and Gaius_4.... :P

You should have 3. The one you get in the room starting the hells run, and two in the big room to the left of your ship. One is in a shaft you fall down by breaking some speed booster blocks, and one is at the top of a shaft in the westernmost portion of that room. They are very close to each other. Obviously you got one but not the other. I don't know if you can do the run with 2. I suspect you can, but, as you'd say, you'd have to be dead solid perfect. It's quite easy with three.

It won't help you, without gravity suit all you can get there is early power bombs (and wave before grapple).
I'm trying to do a low % run, so I

didn't bother to check the area with the second energy tank since I remembered there being two missile tanks there. Wrong, obviously.

Anyway, I don't know if I want to continue with it - too few skippable items :(
So far it seems like I need:

10 missile pack (will it give 1 or 2 %?) and 10 super missiles for mother brain
morph ball
speed booster
bombs
grapple beam >.<
wave beam >.<
power bombs
hjb (can't seem to work around this one)
ice beam - if blue suit at draygon could be done this would only be needed for pb-immune metroids and maybe pirates
charge beam (seems unskippable)
varia (for mb laser and unskippable)
3 e-tanks (also for laser)
gravity

hmm ok let's see, that makes 17 or 18 items already (depending on if you count the missile tank as 2)
if any of these can be skipped, please spoil me because I don't want to keep going if the items are gonna get forced onto me bob-style... and seriously, at least wave and hjb should be skippable in some way :( both only seem to be needed once

Someone asked me via PM: Where is the Gravity Suit?

I (myself) can't remember where I found it. But it seems like it was after I defeated Draygon (the Maridia Boss) and somewhere in that stage.

But I'm not sure. Can anyone else confirm or give an exact location? Thanks

was it sturmvogel prime? :x
the gravity suit is found after phantoon.
after you kill him, go to room to the left, and look around for more clues there.

He pm'ed me too. I honestly couldn't remember well enough to describe where I found most of the stuff. I thought it strange to be asked all those questions by him in a PM, sounds like he just pm'ed everyone on the elites list lol.

I believe you cant go that way. You have to come through that room from the OTHER side of those blocks.

Bloodsonic, you monster! You gave Draygon 14 000 hp! That's like 46 super missiles... there's no way I can kill that thing without heavy save state abuse :| If it was in his normal room I'd be ok (not taking grapple kill into account)

Other than that I stumbled upon botwoon and the space jump (and a reserve tank), more super missiles and a new e-tank. Other than the e-tank, I don't see how I could miss these things in my first play through. And now I'm doing low%... oh well.

In the original Super Metroid, Ridley, the fourth boss, had 18,000 hp.what are you complaining about? JK, I know that draygon's a son of a bitch without the grapple kill.
sorry, but if I make him easier, then he'll be a joke with plasma and x-ray/ too easy in normal play throughs.
