Could the green gate thing have something to do with the emu used?  I'm running ZSNES, 1.51 I believe, and it opened the first time for me.  I'm playing through the game again and again it opened the first time.  This is only an issue for some people?

i seem to remember that it opened the first time for me too.  only later in the game when I was searching for missed items did it give me any grief.  maybe some state in the game changes it ?  Im using ZSNES.
I'm stuck...again.  Just got Ice Beam.  No clue where to go, and hoping it's not teleport time.
The gate gave me trouble on ZSNES 1.51. Though, I also recall it only being a problem when returning later.
Yo.
Almost. Did you beat Phantoom? THEN it's teleporting time.  Wink

Er, no, I haven't beaten Phantoon, as otherwise that would have been my last major milestone.  Incidentally, can someone point me in his general direction?

EDIT: Scratch that.  Found Phantoon.  Now I'm stuck in the room with the weird zoomer.  I can't get back out, and the door forward is locked.

petrie: try bombing around in there.
I had problems with that exact same green gate when i went through it for the 2nd time (other item in that room beside ice beam, check the ceiling *hint hint*) i savestated after so many SM's, had 4 left, started shooting randomly and then poof, out of nowhere i shoot at the ceiling, not the switch, and it opens >_>
Alright, I've been playing this and I've gotten myself stuck. I think so at least. I've read here to about page now 7 and it seems I was lucky to get into this so late considering bugs that have been fixed now, but I haven't found anything that could help me...
I'm at the dead end with the sand torizo and a missile tank that FirePhoenix mentioned some time ago... however, I got stuck there after getting the gravity suit. I stumbled upon the save station "teleport" mostly by accident, I reloaded because I had wasted a power bomb, and then I was wondering if BS had just forgotten to test that save station, people doesn't seem to use them a lot. Anyway after I had followed that path (liked the baby metroid btw  Wink) I went back there to see what I missed. Now there doesn't seem to be any way back, the path I took to get here has a grey door that won't open, and the long shaft seems like I need space jump to get to the top...

Anyway, comments so far...
Nice to see a hack where tha hacker has put some effort into making it pleasant to the eye... one of the better looking hacks out there and that means something to me at least.

I don't like the beam pirates though, switching between single beams all the time gets annoying fast and ~13 shots is also more irritating than challenging IMHO... you could at least make them vulnerable to combinations, like ice/wave would hurt normal, ice and wave pirates (I know they must not be vulnerable to charge beam, even the plasma pirates in vanilla weren't). I also feel there are better obstacles than specific enemies that you can use. Other people seem to like them though, I guess it's a matter of preference, I personally have a bad experience of them being used in a lot of hacks, it didn't even feel very innovative even the first time.

The save station teleport effect can be pretty cool or pretty dumb, and to me it's both... also seems to be the reason I'm stuck right now since it's blocked off for no reason I can think of :-s

Like in almost every other hack I've seen, the creator seems to have forgotten that the upper and/or lower two rows of 16x16 tiles aren't visible on some screens, this time the result is spikes that are just off screen, and you can't see the floor sometimes. The spikes in particular are annoying.

Other than that, the difficulty level is nice. Not very hard, but still not too easy. The hell's run part seems like it needed some advance knowledge, which is never a good thing, but at least there was a save station before it. It was still a mild hell's run though(lol at how I worded that) with plenty of time for screw-ups so it was ok. I couldn't refill my missiles for ridley since the beetles would only drop health, but that was ok too since he had so low health.

Anyway... someone please help  :|

Wait. Whaaaaaaat? I'm not quite sure about your inquiry. Inventory count and description of the area (like, by the graphics) you're in plox? Much easier to help people when they tell you what they have and which area they're in. Good luck!

Just go out the same way you came in. Bomb the floor and roll out to the tunnel with that one-of-a-kind zoomer.
Oh crap, I'm so god damn stupid sometimes. How could I forget? Well, thank you very much and sorry about that everyone  Embarassed

I got the grapple, but having trouble proceeding after that.  After exploring trying to find out where to go next I eventually go back to the room with two metroids vulnerable to the grappling beam and I go as far up as I can with the beam and notice a door to the upper left, but it doesn't seem to have a grappable ceiling so I couldn't get to that door.  I know I might be missing something obvious somewhere here.  At least I assume that's where I got to go next somehow....

Also, there's two other spots I'd like to ask about but would be easier if I posted the screenshots, then asked.  But I have no idea how to post a screenshot in a thread on the forum.  Teaching me how would be greatly appreciated either by responding here or via. personal messaging.  Thanks for any help.  :-)

Finished this now. Didn't get space jump so I'll just ask you people what's at the top of that shaft... I went to the right right away in "lower norfair" and it didn't seem like I could return after that. Used save states but not during boss battles.

Anyway, clear time 3:08 (with lots of being stuck and going back and forth :|)
64%

Charge
Wave
Ice
Grapple
X-Ray
Morph ball
Spring ball
Bombs
HJB
Speed booster
Varia
Gravity
Screw attack

175 or 180 missiles (can't remember which)
15 super missiles
25 power bombs
7 energy tanks

I had sort of a fun scene when the Golden Torizo owned me on one of my first tries... I had 1 hp left, GT thinks "hmm, what to do? maybe I'll just sit on her". And he did.
Draygon was unexpected but not too hard with the screw attack, both draygon and GT fights where really long though.

Anyway, this was a great hack! maybe I'll go through it again some time. But just how many different kinds of metroids did you make? I counted four with grapple metroids, one-shot-freezes, one-shot-doesn't-freeze and the one with waaaay too much hp... not including baby metroids.

Thank you!! I can now properly ask my questions.

1) Okay, the pic with the two defeated metroids where I'm against the wall with the grapple beam is (obviously) after I got the beam, I'm wondering if I'm supposed to go up with the grappling beam and somehow get to the door directly above to the left.  I'm having troubles getting there if that's what I have to do next....  (there doesn't seem to be grappling blocks on the ceiling)

2) The pic with the space pirate looking at us I notice a bombable pipe, bombable in two spots, directly in front of Samus.  I'm wondering if there's a point to this, perhaps it's a clue to where to go next??  Perhaps this was accidently put in the game and the beta tester didn't notice it??

3) The pic with the item at the top right corner is also a mystery to me.  I'm wondering what this item is but most importantly, how do I get to it??  Or am I too early in the game to get it??

Thanks.  :-)

You can't get up past the ripper (flying enemy) until you have ice beam.

No idea what the bomb blocks are for but I never ran into them. Not important, maybe a missile pack or something? Ignore it for now if you don't have gravity, I'd say.

Don't remember what that was, maybe missiles or e-tank or something. You have to speedrun on the path above, there's speed blocks there that you can break.
Yo.
Good job pointing out those bomb blocks, BiggestSchnoz. While I have to say that I didn't know about them when I beta-tested, the creator did inform me that spots like those are indeed to be found, because with each secret bombable spot you can find, all of them add up to allow you to...
do a 15% run of the game.

They are not mistakes; rather, they are intentional. Now, the window of opportunity is open, people! Try your hand at the [details in the spoiler!]

I got the X-Ray.
Anyway, if that's the case I wonder where the metroid weirdness came from? Some would freeze in just one shot, some wouldn't, and one of the ones in tourian definitely had more hp than anything else in the game save bosses. Random metroid hp??? Well not exactly but I still wonder...

Also if you can do a
15% run, that must mean the zebetite glitch is still there? I didn't bother to try it, I've forgotten how you do it... And also, no missile lake so 5/15 must be fairly easy to pull off :D (edit: just realized you get 10 missiles from the first tank, so 10/10 has to be it I suppose) Maybe sub-15 is possible? But I think I prefer trying to figure out by myself what items are required.

Anyway I just got some motivation to play this again  Wink

I'm still stuck with no idea where to go next or what to do next.  I'm told where I thought I had to go to proceed in the game I need the Ice Beam but I don't have it yet.  Maybe that's the next item I need??  Either that or possibly power bombs??  Well, whatever I got to do next to proceed isn't clear or obvious to me so help would be greatly appreciated.  This is everything I have right now:

One energy tank
20 missiles
Grappling beam
Charge beam
Morph ball
Bomb
Spring ball
Speed booster

I don't know where to go next or anything.  I can go from the ship to as far as the first save point or where I picked up the spring ball or the fun to get grappling beam or where I fought the chozo statue after getting the bomb, and back to the ship.  Thanks for any help.  :-)  ](*,)
Check the room before the grapple again, check where the metroids come from.

These two posts are confusing me.  One has to be right while the other might be just a misunderstanding as to where I'm stuck/can't seem to proceed.  I'm posting the area in question.  I'm not familiar with the names of the enemies are with the possible exception of bosses so if these grappable metroids are rippers (they are flying enemies after all....) I'm looking in the wrong direction, I find after reading Acheron86's post.  But I am looking in the right direction if I understand ZephyrZx's post correctly.  The first pic is where I think I might have to go and the second pic is where I'm a little farther up where I think I might need to go.  I can open the door to the upper left but can't seem to proceed from where I'm at where pictured.  Are there grappable blocks directly above on the ceiling somewhere that I could pull myself up and get through the door??  Thanks for any help.  :-)

Pic2: there are some grapple blocks directly above that door.

Sorry, thought you meant the TOP of the room, which you need ice beam for. Yeah, just grapple at the wall above the door to the left, you can get there.
