Just shoot the green things the get health and ammo.
that was what i was saying. you can refill your energy in any room as long as it has a crate in it. as far as i know, you can refill your energy in every boss battle you're in. so it is possible to beat the game with the lowest %. as long as you have skills, and patience.
yea i want to try the lowest percent possible some time after i get 100%.
Quote from Dr. Trence:
first off, i got all three artifacts in VDO, and that included fighting sylux, but with only 1 e-tank. once i beat him, the boss portal opened, and i just saved from there. but the weird thing is that i don't think any of his route intended to fight sylux on your first visit there.
That's a waste of time.
first off, you didn't use the quote tags right, and second off, how is it a waste of time? once you beat spire on alinos, you then head to VDO, from there you can get the battlehammer, then collect all the artifacts, then face the pole boss on your first visit... then if you're lucky, once you beat sylux, he will give you the hunter octo.

anyway, the lowest % you can get (i think) is 6%, since you only get the beams as the main item collection, but if i can find out how my "morph secret world" can help us skip currents beams, then we can probably (as mr potter said), skip the shock coil. but if i remember, there are no tunnels in IC03 that we could use, but using a tunnel as a SW very nearby would probably work. i noticed something weird with my technique, when you pop in the tunnel, and look at the back of the room, you wil notice that there will be some "wormhole" when you are in the sw state, you need to move the arm cannon around, and you will see that the graphics will create some sort of graphical feature. like you will see that the "wormhole" will block out parts of the room depending on where you're aiming the cannon. maybe that's the cause of not wallcrawling around these sw's. but i noticed another thing, in arcterra, the big morph ball maze thing, i was using the morph secret world on one of the tunnels in the room and i noticed that instead of being stuck, i was able to move around in the tunnel. but once i got to the morph entrance tunnel, the game put samus automatically in morph ball mode. but i can't remember if there was that "wormhole" thing behind me, so if i can find a room without the wormhole thing, then we could create some new sw's. but with the thing about moving around freely in the tunnel, there is a possible chance that a gap in the tunnel can get us on top of the room, and allow us to wallcrawl around the sw. but then again, my theroy could be wrong, and the "wormhole" doesn't do anything to effect the sw state. wow, i just jumped to a ridicilous conclusion :p

i'll make a vid of that tunnel in arcterra, and probably add that "wormhole" in there too. i'll post it when i'm done recording it

No, it is much higher, more around 15-20% because there are a few scans that must be scanned and there are things that automatically get put into the logbook.

No, the quoting system didn't work for a little bit. SEE
scans add a % to your total? i didn't know that. well, whatever scan's that you need to scan can probably be skipped with speed tricks, like in ice hive, isn't there some speed trick where you don't need to scan the panel that opens the bridge? i do remember there was a way to skip the bridge, because eventually, the panel won't work on opening the bridge, and you would need to bypass it to collect an artifact. oh, whatever. i'm going to work on finding a way to enter the real sw, as opposed to just stuck in the tunnel, which is technically a sw, since you can see the graphics appear and dissappear, and that the "wormhole" is activated when in a sw state. and when i do find a way, i'll work on skipping the shock coil, i'm starting to get addicted to these low% runs :p

okay, i wasn't looking at the rules and annoucments at the time, sorry
i think some items add percentage too..(as in the log book that make two persent i think...)

Dr. Trence, remember the conversation over at the one time scans topic?
Quote from rekameohs:
Actually, you have to scan the artifact shield in the very beginning of the game. Also, you have to scan 4 lore to get an artifact in the second visit to Celestial Archives.

Quote from rekameohs:
They're scan panels, not lore. Scan panels aren't recorded in the logbook.

The thing that opens the gate is a scan panel so its okay to be scanned. The scans that do count to percent are the ones that show the creatures, lore, equipment, and my personal favorite, the ones that say "ZOMG liek tihs is a rock!!!!1111!!1 Tihs rock roxx0rs!LOLOOOLLOLLOol!" etc.
lol, actually, to be honest, i had no idea what anyone was saying there. i wasn't really paying attention, but i understand now. so now scans are going to get in the way of a low% game now eh'? i'll just worry about the main item's before trying to skip these ridicolus scans. but maybe if you find a sw in the room where the lore is, and where the artifact is, you can walk right under the room, try to jump, and you could collect the artifact without even deactivating the shield thing covering it. but since you would die if you step in a sw, that won't happen. but i would be suprised if we find a way to do such a thing.

On my low percent run, I only collected 3 E-Tanks and 3 UA Expansions and ended up with 18%. So I would expect that the lowest percentage that anybody can get is probably somewhere around 10 to 15 percent. (Depends on just how many scans are actually required to complete the game)

Are we even sure that the Green Logs (Equipment) add to the percentage?
that is an add of 6%, so the lowest so far would be 12%, then if we manage to skip the shock coil that would be 11%. so you're right, the lowest % we would get would be somewhere around 10-15%. but skipping current scan's would drop the total as well, so the use of sw's might help... a lot. but since there practically useless at this moment, the lowest % is 12.

well, i just started my low% run, and the first part wasn't hard, i lost some health, but i noticed that i was able to collect more energy a lot faster because i didn't have any e-tanks. and around 70 hp, you are able to blast the eyes and collect energy. thats a good tip...

It's less than 1% per item/scan, and all low% runners must remember that grabbing pickups (energy, missile, UA, shield keys) adds them to your logbook.  Shield keys and small missile pickups are unavoidable, and I am fairly sure slenches2-4 are impossible without the small UA pickups they drop, but a low% game must avoid all three sizes of Energy, the large missiles, and UA.

I was under the impression you left VDO after the three artifacts, I think I'm mistaken. I always leave after the Battlehammer. I'm pretty sure Mr. Potter didn't fight Sylux on the first visit because he left to get the Volt Driver to use on Sylux and the boss.

For the lowest %, I might try it, not speed through it but just to see how low it goes. But there's:

6 Beams.
4 Scans.
8 Octoliths.*
3 Sheild Keys.
6 Item Pick Ups (Large Health/UA/Missle, Medium Health, Small Health/UA/Missle. Unless you plan on going through the whole game without collecting any of those.)

*I know Octoliths have their own percentage, but I think they're part of the total tally.
Anywhere, everywhere
Actually there's 5 needed scans, 3 needed artifacts, and way more than 3 sheild keys (I don't think that they count for percent though).
ok, i'm a little confused on the lowest %, but either way, i'm probably going to collect 1 e-tank if i'm not able to beat the slench and pole bosses. as far as i know, it is possible to not collect any e-tanks, missles, etc., because you can just collect the health from the bosses. and for the slench v3-5 whatever, when they ram into you, you just morph, and if you're lucky, the camera angle will be some-what right for you to boost out of the way. but, i don't know, i tried the boost thing and i only got the camera angle right once, then i was able to avoid the ram attack.

as for tips, somewhere in the slench v3-4 battles, when they are about to ram into you, if you hold the d-pad right, (like holding it in an awkward angle), then slench will "warp" to another part of the room for a second, then return into the original position, and ram you. but the thing is that with this odd glitch, it would save you about a mili-second from being rammed. as far as i know, it might help in low-any% runs if you don't have a lot of e-tanks. but it doesn't happen in every ramming phase, so it's best to use the morph technique. but in 100% runs, it would help, since it wouldn't really effect you since you have a lot of e-tanks. the morph technique would waste you about 3 seconds, so it would only be good for the low% runs.
Anywhere, everywhere
When I fight Slench 3-4 in low percent (still haven't beaten 4 >.<), I usually just take the hit from the ram. Whenever I go into Morph Ball, I just end up getting rammed anyways and I am wide open for another attack. I just try to get in all of my hits in before he kills me, 3-4 rams. Cretaphid is easy though, just Shock Coil away. :D BTW that's the easy strat I talked about earlier.

In a low% game, you CANNOT collect health pickups, because they are added to your logbook upon being grabbed.  This makes escaping Arcterra the first time truly evil.
i know what a low% game is, i done it on MP2 echoes a lot of times before, but i think it is possible to beat that slench v3-4 guy on arcterra, if you just boost out of his ram attacks, and collect energy from the things that he shoots at you. but fighting the guardians at the main room of the planet will be hard. but i know it can be done.
Anywhere, everywhere
On arcterra is Slench 2. He's easy as pai. And the escape is a sinch too, just avoid Trace good and beat the guardians fast. Now, defeating Slench 3 and escaping all through Celestial Archives is a MAJOR pain in the ass. :x  And don't even get me started on Slench 4 without any energy pickups.  Shocked
you can't get any pick-ups? i don't remember that. well, the only thing that most people need to avoid is his ram attack, and that takes about half of you life away, so i'm only worried about that.

well, i'm still trying to get into these secret worlds, and like i said before, there are current tunnels that you can move around in, as opposed to being stuck in it. i'm going to study the morph sw technique on every tunnel i can find in the game, i know that i won't get to all of them, but i might try the current tunnels that are close to the item pick-ups.

anyway, enough with the "almost got it" thing, i think i am close to popping out the tunnel, i hold the d-pad to the left or right, and you will see that samus is slowly trying to move on one side of the tunnel, if i can get it, she will pop out and might die, or if i time it right, i can jump on top of the tunnel to avoid dying. i will try this slow proceedure some time later, for now, i'm going to work in my low% run

You can climb walls by finding an angled spot and holding up the wall. You float up slowly. A good place to test it out is by the lavafalls in Alinos Gateway. I dont know if alt forms can climb though. I havent tested it. just found it now.
Anywhere, everywhere
Already known. It is how I get up Incubation Vaults 1 and 3 and it can be used in lots of other places, too.
I've almost been able to make it to the top of the arch in front of the lavafall by climbing up the left side. If I (or someone else) could make it to the top it might lead to a SW, and it might be possible to walk across the outside of the wall and make it to the door. It's unlikely, but possible.

I found a nice little speed trrick in Alinos that could shave off a minute or so. :D  First, you must get this octolith last. Just get the Magmaul then leave for later. Beat Cretaphid v3, but instead of exiting towards the ship, go to the Alimbic Cannon. Once you activate it, the timer will stop and you will be saved a third trip to Alinos.
