do you need to collect the key to unlock the artifact, or is it always unlocked?
You do need to get the key to get the artifact.

So now that I think about it, that trick seems kinda pointless since you have to go through there on the first time through anyways. And after that you could just use the portals. Hmm, maybe I'm missing something.  :-k

EDIT: Ooooooh, the artifact IS already there. You just need the key to unlock the MB door.  #-o
I think I might've found another trick.  It works but I'm not sure if it'll help in anyway in the story.  It is very hard to pull off and that was without enemy interruption.
In Sic Transit, there are 4 pillars holding up a broken bridge.  You walk up the first ramp when you enter the area and look at the base of the pillar (the one with the proxy lock 3 scan)  You can Charged MBJ onto the base and hold forward so you won't fall off and Charged MBJ again to reach the top of the bridge.
This is really really tough.  Imagine with all that interruption from Noxus when you're doing it.  And you probably only have 2 full tanks/2 Missile expansions.  You'll probably run out of life/ammo before you make it up there so practice.

I'll try to make a video of it as soon as possible

Edit

Ok so I tried it during the first visit to Arcterra and its no go.

In the video you can still see the door is locked.

Damn, awesome attempt though. What sensitivity do you play with, it seems pretty low.
Heh, that's pretty funny. I just now found a SW that could do the same exact thing.  laugh new

I don't know if it's harder to do than your way, but it sure is hard to do. And it still doesn't matter cuz you can't scan all the locks to unlock the door since they stuck a barrier in front of one of the locks that only goes away once you defeat noxus. :x

Also, a really odd thing happened when I defeated Trace using the SW to get up to the bridge. He dropped UA ammo!  Shocked I wonder if he always drops UA ammo...

He usually drops a Large Health from what I saw, since you fight the three Guardians at the gateway.
No, i meant the first time you battle him and noxus. I defeated him while I was on top of the bridge and he dropped UA before I had any weapons
Yeah, Trace also dropped a UA ammo for me too.
I play with 7-9 sensitivity.  It probably seems low because I had to play with one hand and hold the camera with the other.

God I wish this would've worked.  Especially if you can progress in the story and also scan the proxy locks.  It'll probably shave off a minute from my time.

dang, thats the thing i've been trying to do all along. :P

I figured that if you could keep hitting trace continually, he might not have a chance to phaze out, and you could kill him and get rid of the FF in front of the magmaul door, thus allowing Arc2 before Arc1 (because trace's death is the trigger to getting rid of the force field).
OK, I'm back.

Nothing has been found yet?  I guess MPH isn't as popular for Sequence Breaking or just isn't popular in general.

After watching this video ( )I've been thinking about doing this trick in other places instead of Combat Hall.
By using this trick you will no long need to unlock a door to get to the next area, however sometimes the next area is really just a big black abyss and you'll probably fall through the stage.  BUT, I think that it only happens when you go through those "loading halls" not when its in one whole area or whatever, dono how to explain it.

Anyways, if we can find other places where we can skip those colour doors, we will probably find another sequence break.  First I think we need to find all the necessary colour doors in this game that does not lead to "loading halls" like the Judicator door in Arcterra part1.  If we find a spot where we can Missile Push ourselves off the map and then jump behind the door, we'll probably skip the whole part with collecting certain weapons.
But you realize that shooting the door at the end of the loading hall causes the game to freeze, right? Also, the loading hall isn't even loaded unless you shoot the door(Which means unlocking the door) so you'll just fall into the abyss. It could be used to skip the Shock Coil entirely.

I think the game's not so popular in the SB region is because it's so damn linear, there's a lot of SB going on.
Yeah, that's why I'm suggesting that we find colour doors that does not lead into "loading halls" such as the one in Celestial Archives, I think it's Data Shrine 2 with the Battle Hammer doors.
If we can manage to skip over those doors for a while and get the Volt Driver, we'll be able to
1.  Collect all 3 Artifacts and another weapon in Celestial Archives Part2 before Part1 and
2.  Save time by not going back to get the Volt Driver like we usually do.

Plus, if you can find a way to do that, you don't have to fight Kanden (if you go do CA part 2 and leave CA part 1 for later) at all during the game until you come back for CA1. Thats another hunter fight we can avoid (sylux is the other one).

but the problem is that we don't know if Alinos will be unlocked if we do CA 2 first.

True, but it's going to be pretty hard navigating an invisible room, if the collisions even load.

especially one where there are mini-doors that lead to a centre room, and in the centre room lie another two MB holes on high ledges that are only accessible from a platform that you need a bit of precision jumping to get to.

being a room that has 2 loading rooms around it.

sounds like a Kip job.
Talking about speed tricks here, what do you GOOD speedrunners do to get through Tetra Vista as soon as possible? I can do it fast, but I wanna know if there are some more cool tricks like missile boosting my way through like I now do (I sometimes screw up badly though).

Thanks in advance, btw.
jackie... Liku... anyone else interested in skipping Volt Driver...

I just did it. :D

It's the first major sequence break in Hunters that I know of.

I tried to do CA2 before CA1, but I couldn't beat Slench because I didn't have Battlehammer.

Anyway, to do it, climb up to the Volt Driver door using the speed trick. When you get to it, do the missile thing. It shouldn't work. Now jump off the edge to cause damage and kill yourself by falling or by firing missiles. After you die, the game asks if you want to return to the last checkpoint. Select "yes" and it will place you in the portal room, the one behind the Volt Driver door. Right now I'm playing through the game, just got to VDO. When I have Battlehammer, I'm returning to CA2. The Volt Driver door is yellow on both sides, so you might not be able to skip it. I'm counting on the game assuming you already went through the door and returning it to normal, much like it gets rid of the Judicator gate in Ice Hive during the escape, whether you got rid of it or not.

I'll edit this post with my results.

EDIT: Oh, and there is no problem getting the Shock Coil. It works beautifully against Cretaphid 1. :D

EDIT 2: Okay. The door is still yellow during the escape. So as of right now, we cannot skip the Volt Driver. We're really close, though.

agh, crap. it sounds like you were close too.

couldn't you preform that door trick while doing the "escape", and try to load the other room in a sw form by door-dumping, or by other means of Secret Worlds?

-does IS work in MPH?

I tested it and you don't have to try the missile push thing at all, you just have to go up to the door, the game registers that you've reached the checkpoint, even though its on the other side of the door. The creators didn't expect us to get up to the door without the volt driver in the first place, so the area for that checkpoint was left outside the door. It won't work in the opposite direction because you aren't getting into the checkpoint area outside the volt driver door (I assume its at the bottom of Synergy Core, though I'm not sure). We still need the voltdriver as long as we can't get through that door on the escape sequence, but you could still get the shockcoil and some tanks early (I don't know if it would be worth it)
Hmm..  Nice job Mr Potter too bad I dont have my DS to try it out.  I guess Nintendo's trying to make another non-sequence breakable game.  I hope I'll get my DSlite soon (sold my old DS) maybe Sunday or something like that.  I'll try to do some experimentation by then.
Quote from Derek:

Even if we could reach the checkpoint, it wouldn't work, because checkpoints don't register in the escape. The escape checkpoint is right before you get the escape message, and as long as you're escaping you can't trigger any others.
So, wait, I've been following Mr Potter's speed run guide on GFAQs and I've reached Celestial Archives 2. It says like this:

Code:
SYNERGY CORE
To skip the elevator, jump to the top level. Notice on the walls there are two
pairs of two blue bars. Jump on the bottom bar of the pair closer to the jump
pad. Stay still on it until you stop moving. Then carefully jump to the top
bar and stay still until you stop moving. YOU MAY FALL OFF HERE! If you can
successfully stand on the top bar, move toward the jump pad and jump off the
bar onto the ledge. Then take the jump pad and jump in mid-jump to make it all
the way to the door.

But uh, the door has a yellow lock on it?
You have to get Volt Driver first.

Ah, I see, missed the "Take the portal and head down to Data Shrine 02 that way.". Thanks.
I have another idea for a Noxus battle skip.

Ignore the bad music.  Or mute.

As you can see in this video, you can pass through the wall and go into the secret world.  However if we use this in Single Player mode, we can probably go to the door that leads to Ice Hive.  I'm not 100% sure about whether it will work or not.  I think the barrier on the door is caused by Samus walking in on the Trace/Noxus battle but since you're taking an alternate route, you can probably ignore them completely and the barrier wont be set up at all.
