It's not that, that's the problem. It's having the door shut while the seedling is "above" the door.
If I don't pay attention and don't let the door close as it's all the way to the left, my cursor moves over the door after I drop off the FIRST ledge, and I have to climb back up.

In my attempt to speed up the process I hurt my ability to even get to my ship with the lock-on intact.

Of the times I've paid attention and waited though, I have a 95% success rate of getting to the ship.

I noticed about a 40% chance starting out as well.  After locking on, try moving back and left, or some angle to the left.  Experiment a little. My lock on success is easily 90% now, and I don't wait for sh!t.  Wish I could say the same for getting a dash off the ship while sliding down.  Evil or Very Mad

Btw T3, of my 3 hours trying the rock dsbj, if I was aimed correctly, I would have made it 2 or 3 times.  To get the necessary heighth you have to be moving up an incline of the rock , if ever so slightly, when each of your ground bombs explode.  Seems that heighth is the same as a normal dbsj, but maybe there is a small ghetto effect involved..?  Anyway, I found out exactly where you can stand on that ledge if I feel like trying again, but like BS said, the cost-reward is low as it is an obsolete trick.
I hope you eventually make it. It feels amazing once you finally get up. Just make sure once you finally make it to copy it to another file so that you always have a SJE file. That's what I did so I don't have to waste any time on SJE anymore.
This is gu3st btw.....

Getting from seedling to ship shouldn't be a problem, just avoid the "danger area" where you will lose lock. The seedling actually stays with you for a MUCH LONGER DISTANCE than the game cube version, you can actually *attempt* dashing off the ship (without release the lock) and without losing the lock (hope that makes any sense).

The only critical parts of SJF is:
1: Make sure you have some momentum before leaving the ship/sliding down the side of the ship/dash.
2: Twist camera.
3: Twist nunchuck so that you are always in the direction of the ledge.

I wish I didn't take out the SJF tutorial + others video.

So you mean to say that while twisting the camera, you spin the analog stick in the opposite direction at the correct speed to make it?

We need to twist the camera to adjust where samus's feet is. And since the camera is moving, we need to constantly adjust the nunchuck so its always pointing TOWARDS the ledge.

hope that makes a bit sense.
I haven't done SJF yet but I can tell you that it's all based on the freez dash. Twisting the camera and turning was just something he did when he made it but I strongly beleive that it does absolutely nothing. I have gotten the exact same distance with and without twisting. It's all a matter of luck since it's very rare for the freez dash to happen off the back of the ship.

Landing facing the edge is actually worse because iirc samus's feet are on her side so it would be better not to twist and turn. If you land when you're still facing the seedling you would have a better chance of making it.

What I'm questioning is the massive amount of pronouns in there.
It doesn't make much sense. Based on the sentence structure, the "it" in the last sentence means the camera, or the actual nunchuck itself. The first, can't be done, and the second has no impact on movement.
@T3.
You might be right. If we look at this through MP1 GC Physics, changing camera should dramatically changing the landing area of samus. Yet Dragon and I both got it while facing opposite directions. (I faced left, which means feet towards ledge. While dragon face right and feet away from the ledge).

@Sabta2.
When we dash, we are facing the seedlings (And during this we are holding right on the nunchuck). If we were then to change the camera so that samus is facing (lets say the ship) while still holding right. Samus will now be moving towards the seedling instead of ledge.

I hope you understands the example.

Since we are changing the camera, we need to change the direction we are holding on the nunchuck so that its always point towards the ledge no matter where we face (obviously a constant change)

It would be best to land facing the seedling because Samus's feet are on her side not behind her. Turning either right or left is going to give you the same landing that is worse.
samus feel is on her side?? Shocked
This is confusing lol..

Hmm I think you are actually right, because IIRC. Samus look like this in game.

Any progress so far Baby?

I haven't had a chance to try again due to coursework.

You know, you don't have to get the combat dash from the seedling... Anyone wanna try?

You do know that method is FAR harder to perform, right?

If you screw up once, you have to reload your game. This is because of 2 reasons:
1) That bug (forgot it's name) can only take so much damage before dying, and you NEED to knock it back to perform the jump.

Well then scratch #2 off my list.

2) The bug won't be in the same place if you fail the jump the first time. So to restart the jump you need to restart the game.

that's not true. it'll be in a slightly different spot, but you can still make multiple attempts before it dies.

It would be really hard to kill the beetle anyway because every time it goes back underground it fully recovers.

^ this. You can actually try the GC PAL beetle dash over and over as many times as you like.

Though it seems you have to make sure it goes back underground before the door closes. At least I somehow managed to kill it when I tried this once.
Jagger ftw
I finally got my acc back again, so any new sjf achievers?

I haven't had time to keep trying.

I am definitely going to keep at it though.
Yeah same here. I haven't had much time but I'll get on this eventually. I'm not too interested though considering that SJE is easy for me, so I'm not gonna work too hard at this. I'd still like to do SJF atleast once, eventually.

Start working boys. There needs to be a cash bounty for the first person to record (Via capturecard) SJF for MPT.

EDIT: SLF = SJF

I'm not going to get a video of it, but glad to see you made it. Any tips?

Honestly. It appears totally fucking random. I tried it for I don't even know, probably over 2days of ingame time. And this one, second try in the file :S

Wow, good job. Remember to copy it to another file so that you always have a SJF save.
