Actually the time it takes to go out of your way to pick up SJ is about the same. The time from Chozo's Magmoor elevator > SJE > Tallon's Magmoor Elevator is about the same as Arboretum > SJE > Arboretum. Except the latter has the advantge of having SJ for Flaahgra and for climbing Arboretum.
And the other method I suggested makes it so you can go straight from Space Jump to phendrana, instead of going spacejump > flaahgra > magmoor.
Jagger ftw
Lol you and your vmr.

You saw the video already? XD

EDIT: I'm working on a very descriptive route, here's the first segment (this is written completely from memory) so I might totally miss some important rooms, but here's segment 1:

Segment 1: Shoot the targets. Don't lock on. Left then right. Use the Morph Ball after the two force fields. On the first door, shoot it, shoot the next one, then morph right before the shot hits it. Unmorph before you reach the door so you can scan the panel right away. When the door opens shoot the next one, morph and roll up to it. Unmorph slightly before the door so as soon as you can walk, the door is open. Hop over the railing fairly soon, and lock onto the parasite and dash as many times as you can (usually twice) and then turn and shoot the door, hold a charge. Fire it off as soon as you see the rubble. Walk through the next room as fast as you can, don't try to shoot the door. Skip the cutscene, shoot the door, morph and roll for a very short time, then unmorph and scan the elevator and make sure you skip the cutscene. As soon at the elevator hits the ground, shoot and morph. Either lay a bomb at the end of this tunnel to open the door, or aim for a difficult instant unmorph. Walk through this room and when you approach the pirate, dash twice off him. Shoot the door and dash off the pirate to your right if you wish. This door takes forever to load, so it won't save time. Morph and roll through this next room, lay a bomb and unmorph. Do a difficult pair of DSBJ's to quickly climb this room. Shoot the door, then get a shot in the air towards the next one and morph. unmorph slightly before this next door and change to scan visor. Scan the elevator, morph and roll into it. Unmorph, change to scan visor and scan the panel then morph and quickly roll into the slot. Try to get a damage boost. As soon as the game releases you, roll forward, do a spring jump and unmorph. Go into scan visor, and scan the panel. Avoid the turrets. When this next slot releases you, springjump over the hitch and keep rolling into PQ. Aim up and shoot her in the face 5 times for a very quick death. Walk forward and shoot the door. Jump onto the first platform earlier than you would on GC, then as soon as you can, jump onto the next platform. Jump early onto the next platform and jump as early as you can onto the next one, then normally jump onto the last one. Shoot this door and then instantly switch to the scan visor. As soon as you can scan the panel, then walk to the far left corner and wait for the elevator to reach the top. Jump to the door, let a quick charge off and blast the turret. Lock onto the closest pirate and dash twice to the left. Lock onto the next one and dash once more to the right. Evade the net pirate by hugging the left wall. Jump into the cap that blows up. Morph, and use spring jump opportunistically. Unmorph and shoot the door at the first turn. Morph again until you reach CFLTDG, then when you're waiting for the cap to explode, roll back to just before the start of the elevator and start rolling towards the cap. It'll explode just before you hit it and give you some good momentum. Springjump right as you turn, and then unmorph. Shoot the door, and unload a missile into either turret. Shoot the door and morph. Roll down the tunnels and unmorph right as you reach the threshold for the room and shoot the next door, while it's opening look to the up and right and lock onto a parasite and dash to the left. Keep jumping even though you're facing sideways. Jump towards the door and shoot it. Wait for the piston to smash against the wall, then follow it down the shaft. Shoot the door and morph, roll forward and when you hit the ramp, springjump. Unmorph in midair and turn left and shoot  ridley's door. Morph and roll back a bit. When the door is almost open, start rolling towards is but don't get caught on the doorway. Do the fast grapple, shoot the door and morph right before the tile change near the door starts, and just before it too opens, start rolling so you don't get caught in the doorway. Keep rolling until you pass the turret, then unmorph and scan the panel. Get out of scan visor and walk into the hologram then lock onto the turret. Just before you reach the top, jump and then dash to the right. The lock will break. Continue on. Shoot the next doors and keep jumping.
There are a couple of rooms that can be done faster. The room near the starting with the dead parasite queen, you can just spring ball through the room. The second room after the first elevator, you can also roll through instead of walking. The frigate escape has a few rooms that can be done faster. You can just spring ball through the first room of the escape and then on the last spring ball get an instant unmorph and scan the panel.
Jagger ftw
Just tell us the time after you save at landing site lol.
I got 5.

LInk to that video again.
I just saved in Landing Site at 5min. My frigate escape was amazing with 4:23, the best yet. Everything went very smoothly and it was a great segment.
Be sure to send me a save if you get a sub 7 min SJF, I'd love to put a test run together.
I moved on past SJF. I just saved after the hive mecha at 8min, which is 1min ahead of Stefan. The beetle skip is really causing some problems. Anyway, I decided after an hour that SJF will be too hard to pull off within a minute or two but maybe i'll have better luck with SJE.
Alright. Either way, I'd love to try and put down a good time in this game.
Why don't you start your own speedrun then? It will make things easier because we'll be able to compare times for segments.
Eh, I fail horribly at SJE however, it'd probably be about 3 hours in before I got it ;P

Well then I guess you're not going to be doing any speedruns.

Anyway, I just saved in Gathering Hall after charge beam at 12min.
Jagger ftw
TBH I never bothered with Ball skip, when I practice ss, I go up to that root in the north west corner (the ball is north, half pipe is south) and use 4 missile.
Its about 10-20 second slower than ball skip but its easy do to it consistently.
What was your final time? IIRC it was 1:38 which is very amazing. Stefan's run got 1:37 and he had the more breakable version. Also, what was the route you took?

It was 1:38.

Some music to lighten the mood (This is what me and my friends do in our spare time)
Yes! I just pulled SJE off on my 7th try. Only about 30secs into the segment and I got it! This only took me about 15min worth of resets too. I'm sooo happy, I thought this segment would take me weeks!
Good job man.
I just saved in Magmoor after flaahgra and my time is 21min. I'm 2min behind Stefan except I have space jump, so i'm actually much ahead.
You should try my method going MBB > Flaahgra > Space Jumo ;)

Too late now. I was thinking about it but decided to go with my way because I wanted to have an easier flaahgra kill.

Edit: I just saved before Wave and IS at 24min. The next segment may take a very long time to complete. Also, that video is very strange.
Of course it is :D

Segment 7 you're on?

Actually I made an extra save in the middle of segment 5. I saved right before Wave and IS because it will take many resets. Also, I forgot about picking up Strength so i'm going to have to pick it up on the way to Wild.

I realized a mistake in the route. It says Plasma > Early pb > Spirit when infact that is impossible. You need the early pb before plasma which is going to waste quite a bit of time. It's going to have to be Early pb > Plasma > Spirit.
Ugh, thats annoying.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
what about the magma pool PB with IS?
