Helios is pretty easy beat IMO. Use lot hyper mode and hyper beam full charge shots. This is best way IMO. You don,t need worry about your energys if you have enought energy tanks. Hyper mode is all what you need.

Yeah, The best way to beat him is going in hyper mode and start shooting him when he starts generating his so-called shield. Just shoot one slightly charged shot and then shoot fully charged when the shield goes off and after that just shoot him without charging. Repeat this and he is good as dead ;)

Ah okay, kinda like the Rundas battle.  Don't really pay attention to what phase the boss is in, or defensive measures... just go in all hyperguns blazing?  8-)

Yah, that's most likely the best way in every boss =D
Not really, but.. You know.. =D

Well, abuse Hyper to any extent [provided you have the max energy tanks], unless you're at the point of needing energy. That's why I don't use it unless there's a lot of guarantees of health refills.
Jagger ftw
am going for a 100%, and when i first got spider ball, i heard the pickup noise at power works, any ideas?

Wait until after you get the Grapple Voltage, then you can come back.
Anywhere, everywhere
No, there's a spiderball puzzle there leading to a missile. Ironically, searching for that missile lead me to find sw5.

Oh sorry, I mistook places. :|

How many energy tanks are accessible before Mogenar?  I'm getting my ass kicked with 5 or so (hyper mode >_<), and I wanna know if it's worth exploring to power up or if I just need to suck less because there are no others. >_>

Pretty sure it's just 5. Mogenar gave me trouble at first; however his attacks are obvious and slow, and dodging most of them during the fight isn't tough. I found it hardest to fight him when he charges around (and you're supposed to bomb his feet); my solution was to switch into hypermode every time he charged, switch out to bomb, then switch back in. You can't take damage while in hypermode so it's a pretty reliable invincibility toggle, provided you aren't corrupted. If you can get past that you should be good to go.

My biggest problem is that after I break a few of his red balls, he never leaves the third or fourth ones open long enough to hit them much, or he does the boulder rain attack which closes all of the hatches for its entire duration... and I just can't seem to do enough damage to break them before he replaces them, and I can definitely never break both replacements on Hyper mode without expending energy tanks, which are far too sparse to waste at this point.

It's pretty tough to break the hands when he starts to repair them; I wouldn't waste e-tanks on trying to stop them in hypermode anyway. Just start anew when they're repaired. The distance between Samus and Mogenar seems to have an effect on what moves he likes to use, so you might want to try experimenting with that. Definitely don't break the back orb until last, as his AI makes it very easy to take out at that point.

Other than that it's just trial and error. Get better at aiming, only try to break one orb at a time, and focus on just surviving his attacks; you'll get there eventually. It's good practice for the harder fights coming up later in the game.

Yeah, I already beat the whole game on Hyper before, I just accidentally deleted my file and can't pass him again for the life of me. XD

I've been focusing on a single orb, but I just can't reliably destroy them once they start flashing phazon.  Sometimes they die after a single barrage of charged phazon, other times I've unloaded 3-4 energy tanks before he repaired it with a glowing green hand despite eating all that phazon straight to his weak point--and yes, I'm only shooting when it opens.
Do energy cells count as items? I don't think so, since you "lose" them afterwards, but just checking.
Cells count towards your percentage, regardless of whether you "use" them or not.

I now have 91/100 pickups. My problem is that when I launched the satellites from the Chozo Observatory to download the locations of the pickups, it didn't download the pickup locations for the G.F.S. Valhalla or the Pirate Homeworld. Did I miss a couple satellites or do I have to find these pickups on my own? I am not on planet Elysia now, and I don't want to waste time traversing to the center of it to find nothing there. Know what I mean?

Valhalla doesn't have any satellite data. Get huntin'. PHW has satellite data so you must've missed it. Go back there.

It's generally considered bad forum etiquette to ask for help in the help sticky and then still make a new thread. Just a heads-up. You should also use the search function on the forum; a quick search for the word "observatory" yielded the answers you were looking for and then you wouldn't have to wait for an insomniac like myself to respond.

Actually, I made this thread BEFORE I posted in the sticky. Then I tried to delete this thread, but there was no delete button. I generally have very good forum etiquette. I wish you would check the forum post dates before crushing me with false accusations.

As for not using the search button....my bad. I almost did, but figured this board was unused enough that this would be the first time the question has been asked.

But thanks for your help!  :D I don't think I need to worry at all about the Valhalla, though.

EDIT: I'm surprised that you did all of that searching but failed to realize that I live in the same time zone as you.  laugh new
Yeah, the Pirate Homeworld has data, but you get it differently, and you need the Nova Beam. Just shoot (or charge shoot) the phazon panel on the side of the circular thing in the center of the room (I think it's by the elevator.) That activates a hand scanner you can use to get the data.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I am fairly certain you can download the map for the Pirate Homeworld, but you must also remember that you cannot download the map for the Valhalla, nor can you see the map for Bryyo Ice unless you're there.
Jagger ftw
wow. that explains why I only have item data for bryo. I have to download them..

I'm in the middle of a fight with him right now... it's gone on almost 2 hours, i've got 3 sockets down.

Its not hard at all to dodge his attacks and everything, but it is very hard to get that permanent damage on him. The third socket was the hardest because he kept refusing to show his back after I took out the remaining front orb, before going to get more orbs. and on Hyper, I find it extremely hard to get both orbs destroyed before he grabs them. Thats the main reason it's taken me so long. I don't think I could do this any faster without some sort of turbo controller (does one exist?) because I can't pound the A button fast enough without probably causing injury lol.

If this guy is this hard on hyper... I can't imagine the rest. Maybe I should just give up now? lol....

At any rate, any advice?
