Do missiles actually do damage to SA-X? Because I remember it requiring a lot more charge shots than that.
They don't. Normally it would take 7-8 shots iirc but firing them diagonally makes them stay in SA-X longer.

That freezing strategy is the one I'm trying. It's making it MUCH harder than my normal strategy, but it saves something like five seconds I guess.

Yeah i never managed that freeze method. Even i try make that same style as Biospark this doesn,t work for me. I just use always orginal easy method. This method is slower than biospark but it almost always working well enought without losing damage.

Freeze method looks easy but it doesn,t.

I think it's easier than it feels at first. It's just a matter of getting the rhythm right. I keep trying to shoot a missile and hold R, but you're actually supposed to release R as soon as you release B.

My next issue is something actually difficult: jumping SA-X in that short hall after Zazabi. >_< maybe 3% success rate for me.
Are you ready for some underwear music?
I always use this strategy to beat SA-X:
Charge beam as soon as you enter and go to the door, make SA-X enter, drop to the floor, shoot the beam at him, jump over him while charging new beam, shoot this beam at him and so on.

Problem there is, sometimes SA-X jumps, too, and you collide in mid-air. You take a lot more damage than SA-X does, and it's much more dangerous since I only had like 7 tanks at the time. I ended up using that strategy, running along the ground to kinda lure it to the door, and jumping into it a couple times.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
As long as you keep your distance avoiding the SA-X's screw attack is cake.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's a strategy I found for fighting SA-X. I've used it on the GBA to win without taking any damage, and fairly easily, too, but it is a bit slow. I recommend practicing the Missile/Charge method, or whatever you want to call it.

Regarding the TRO SA-X, I generally try to jump up into the corner as soon as I land on the lower level, then move back over and hope to god I don't hit the SA-X. If you do it perfectly, you can land halfway inside it in a way that the Ice Beam will freeze you initially (which can't kill you unless you're already in critical health, IIRC) but the Super Missile thereafter won't, so you can simply run out of the room.

Uh, he never super missiles me in morph ball form. O_o and every time I'm half inside it, I die instantly.

And it has a fat head.

I managed that trick once and it took me something 30 failed attempts. I just use method what wassup dawgs use his 0.50. I just timed this save something 8-seconds. I just think it is as fast skip one more save point and use normal method.

I think this is always too risky. Even Biospark skip that trick his SS run.
the one thing that keeps me from playing this game as much as the other metroid games is that I get so sick and tired of having to read all the dialogue.  I press the button to speed up the text, but it still seems like I spend half the game in dialogue.  can someone tell me if there is a way to skip that shit ?

You're definitely not alone in your thinking. And no, there's no way to skip it.
Speedrunner
Yeah long cutscenes is only bad thing in Fusion. Especially if you try make speeruns, you need reset much and watch cutscenes always over again. Not fun.

Yeah and what Arkarian said, there is no way skip any cutscenes. Probably you can save game after cutscenes. This make speedrun most comfortable. But if you try good speedrun this is not good idea always.
I'm not good enough to do a serious 100% speedrun, my best time for 100% is 2:48.  I only play it like once a month because the dialogue bugs the shit out of me.

If I could find the damn ROM then I could just fast-forward through all the frikkin dialogue.

I was hoping someone knew some button combo to press to skip it, but oh well.

You really can't find a ROM of Fusion? Someone's not trying hard enough.

And come on, who doesn't like listening to Adam?

That's not a good way to get ROMs.
Let's not turn this into a rom discussion in any way.

Oh, you're using the morphball method... I've never even tried to do that. Maybe I should; it could be useful for any single segment runs if I can get it down.

Spinjumping over those ice beams without turning around is hard to do.

Hi.

Yeah, unskippable dialogue adds up to like 40 minutes. It's almost as long as a speedrun. I think that includes the credits, but still, it's ridiculous.

Same way you DBJ in Super Metroid.  Lay a bomb, as it explodes, lay another, and lay another at the peak of your jump.  This is the same in every Metroid game, 3D or 2D.
