Any% in Stardust is really straightforward as all of the optional items you could need are on-route.

I went ahead and patched together a map of my 00:25 route. It's, uh...non-Euclidean. So I've included everything except Tourian (in which I grabbed only 1 E-tank) and the four rooms right before it.

You can see how the Crateria escape rooms overlap some of Norfair. Looking at it, it seems to be missing the Wave Beam room as well. Oh, well...
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Yes, I appreciate that, but I just meant I'd never really ran an any% before, as I always do 100% - habit, I guess. grin new
Finished, 2:17, 87%.

I loved the fact that you could go about beating this one any way you wanted, really.

Funny sidenote- in order to get to Draygon, you have to fall through a sand pit, right? Well, I never did that.

I had noticed a mochtroid in a pipe room with crumble blocks, so I freeze-glitched thru the blocks, figuring that's why the mochtroid was there. Only after I got into the area did I explore the room that was the bottom of the sand pit.

Also, I have to say, X-ray and SA weren't that bad. You actually gave more of a hint for X-ray than you did for SA, given that

The save station didn't work

All in all, great hack. I'm glad this one seems to feed of off intuition. There's a lot of supsicious looking blocks and passages that happen to be (oh my god) suspicious FOR A REASON!!! I say this because I'm currently also playing Golden Dawn, which has a lot of suspicious looking dead-ends and likes to put items in front of you but require you to jump through flaming hoops to get them. So yeah, I liked being able to be rewarded for thinking like a NORMAL person :)
The door leading to spore spawn's room (purple and black room) never unlocked, and nor did the one on the far side of lower norfair. fucking great, I give up.

The first one never unlocks, and for the second one, have you killed Ridley?
Killing Spore Spawn is the trigger to unlock the Brinstar-themed room in the sequence of rooms leading to Tourian (that starts in the lower right of Norfair after killing Ridley). But you don't get to Spore Spawn from black&purple Brinstar; you get to him from the other side. Check near where you got your first pack of Super Missiles.

Nope. So I'm permastuck. good going.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
You are not permastuck.  The door on the right that you're referring to never opens, you need to go through
the secret passage at the top of the shaft where you came into the purple / black area. (Above the Cactus thingies)

In turn, this will allow you to open the door in Norfair.
just did a 00:32, made a route mistake by going to draygon before spore spawn unfortunately
Kill spore with a charged plasma was fun though

Good job Ext_Qrt, think you could reach sub 30?

I will give it a try, i'm attempting to do this by only using savestates at the start of rooms and no slowdown.

I've never done this before and just felt it too complicated to devise a run for anything.
However stardust is very nice :) I'm not calling it simple, but it is just very... kind to my senses. If that makes any sense haha.
Making a recording of it too!

Trying to make it entertaining as well, nothing like a tas though  laugh new
Attached are the SMVs for my stardust walkthrough.

- I had a problem recording and had to make it two SMVs because of a route problem after Phantoon.
- I only began recording after speedbooster really =\
- I use savestates, 99% at door transitions only.
- I do not use slow down.
- I try to be entertaining.

Great job ext_qrt! Sadly, I'm not going to be home for a few more days so I can't watch your video, I hope it's as good as it sounds.

Oh, and congrats on getting the current fastest time.
Hehe thanks, but I think many many items can be skipped.
Too many etanks in the end and not enough abuse of drops.
Sub 20 without tas seems possible.

Please tell me your already trying for it.  Wink

I played and finished this hack today after getting frustrated with Cliffhanger yesterday. Very nice and relaxing compared to some of the other stuff out there. Easily one of the funnest hacks I've bothered playing.

Completion stats:
2:47
90% (got all major upgrades and all energy Tanks)

As many others have said, item placement and non-linearity are this hack's strengths. It's comforting to see a hack that rewards intuition. In my eyes, the best example of this was the "tube PB pack." I just knew something was up there and was thrilled when I was right. The only part that struck me as obtuse was the entrance to Draygon's "Lair", but when I found it I figuratively smacked myself for not guessing it earlier.

Also, I found it kind of funny how I got the Gravity Suit before the Charge Beam. XP

The only thing about the hack that really bothered me was that too few of the rooms changed the music to the area's proper music. It's kind of disorienting to be in Norfair and still be hearing the Green Brinstar theme.

And just out of curiousity, what does the "420" you see when flying off the planet mean?

At a guess, it has something to do with pot.

Really? I thought it referred to Adolf Hitler's birthday. >_>
Seriously, I like it so far. Is it normal that I already got the Gravity Suit ? I just have a reserve tank, three energy tanks, the morph ball and the bombs. Can't go any further now, so...help, please ?

AFAIK you cannot enter wrecked ship until you have power bombs, so how on earth (or zebes) did you get the gravity suit?
What'd you say?
Well, I an very glad everyone is enjoying this hack, I figured this hack would stick out compared to other hacks (in a good way of course.) 420 stands for a few things, "April 20th" is either Hitler's birthday or, national weed day (not nationally recognized.) It also is code word for weed, that is why I chose to put it in.

Well, to get Gravity you need to get Power bombs and you also need to kill Phantoon, which leaves me confused as how you did that without missiles/super missiles/charge beam. Care to explain?  Question

Well he mini-Kraid room has a free PB pack and I assume that he just forgot to mention having missiles and defeating Phantoon, so his predicament isn't that strange. In fact, I had the exact same stuff as him at that point in the game (plus the SM pack in the pre-Phantoon room).

Well, I might as well answer.
Grab Wave Beam in WS.

Go back to Brinstar elevator go west.

After you can't go west go down, then west to Norfair to find Varia/SB

That's all I'll say unless you still need more help.
YES ! My second hack finished. 76%, 5:43, I think. So, now, my review :
REALLY great hack. The level design was fantastic, the way the items were placed was superb. The escape was a bit annoying, as the gas just kept hitting me while I was going up. Well, as all things have defaults, here some things I didn't like : first, the items were not really hidden. I just kept firing and I found five missiles tanks in Norfair (or Brinstar ?). Last, but not least, the boss were too easy and somes could be skip. With the plasma beam, defeating Spore Spawn was...he was sh*t. Sorry, but yeah. Well, that's all, it was great, though there were somes defaults.
What'd you say?
Glad you enjoyed it, but do you care to explain what this sentence means exactly?
Quote from perfectnote:

I was confused since "default" gerenally means, preset or original. Did you mean "problems"?
