I hope to trade a glitch for some help. After the lava bath, if you reenter the room from the GT room the graphics will get messed up.
Now then
i was just wondering how I might get to the upper part of maridia i.e. the area around the top of the elevator. i can't find a way up there nor can i get to the bottom of the elevator.
any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: got it just looking for the SA now
EDIT2: 2:59 82% not bad for a first run

I was wandering through the hack section of Metroid Construction and saw this one's name on the list. I'd heard it mentioned a few times in the past, and so I decided to give it a go and I'm happy I did. Although it got off to a bad first impression, I think partially because some of the early rooms seemed a little rushed as far as the tilesets were concerned, the game definitely picked up quickly after that and ended up being a lot of fun for me by the end.

01:32, 81% (Includes all major upgrades)

Personally, I didn't find the X-Ray or Screw Attack to be that difficult to find. With X-Ray, having a "broken" save point and the screen trying to scroll to the right was a dead giveaway in my mind that something was back there, and the Screw Attack seemed to be very obvious to me. (Maybe I'm just used to how things happen in hacks after having played a bunch of them since I discovered them about a year ago. Who knows?) But funny enough, I had to resort to looking for help or a map in order to find out how to get into Norfair and to Draygon. Go figure.

Anyway, the only knock I can give it is the escape sequence, but looking back that was mostly me being dumb and not finding that missile expansion in the floor RIGHT NEXT TO the missile door. d'oh! I spent a few good minutes looking for that thing because I somehow missed that spot when blasting that room and others with PBs and the Hyper.

So yeah, a great hack that wasn't hard but had some exploration to it, as well as having the item collection music going off every 30 to 60 seconds. laugh new
What'd you say?
I'm really glad you took the time to try this finally. Very Happy

The few beginning rooms were kinda rushed as I was still getting used to hacking (this was my second project I ever worked on.) As for X-ray and SA, yea, those were farly easy to find, I was suppsoed to go back and fix the screen scrolling for the X-ray. Draygon was meant to be sorta hidden, so at least I succeeded there lol.

My least favorite part of this hack, the escape sequence. If I had had the sense to prolong this hack a day or two longer, I would have actually made a decent escape sequence; I really wish I would have.

Having the frequently collected items, to me, is a huge bonus to this hack and makes up for all of the stupid errors.

All in all, I always love seeing this thread being bumped, I'm really glad to know that I have entertained people. Hopefully I can actually get around to working on Supernova and release that damned thing.
Yeah, I can definitely understand the difference between trying to create something early on and then creating something with months of experience under your belt, because that's why I'm still stuck near the beginning of my own hack creation after being exposed to SMILE and SM hacks for about a year now. (Keep restarting because what I want to do isn't what is getting done/getting bogged down by trying to do too much at once.) Looking back at some of my early work there's a distinct difference in the quality, but that's just part of the creation process.

And as far as collecting items so fast, it's a fresh change of pace from what I've seen in most of the half/full hacks I've played up to this point. I've seen others say that too since it means this one goes by at a much faster pace and could theoretically be played more often simply because it doesn't take much of a time investment like some of the other ones in order to run through the entire thing.

If you like the sound that much, you should see by post above.

And, yes, Tyjet, I haven't heard anything hacking related in a while.  It'd be nice to have a quick update. aiwebs_004
What'd you say?
Well, somehow I messed up my tileset so I had to remake that, resulting in the rooms having some jumbled tiles, so I have to go back and fix a lot. Other than that, I haven't done to much, a couple rooms, if that.
how i downlaod this game i want play this game!!!
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
You will need to find yourself an unheadered ROM.  It should be Super Metroid (JU) [!].  Once you've got it, download the .ips patch on the first post in this thread.  Download Lunar IPS, load it, and apply the patch to the ROM.  Then just load the patched ROM in your emulator of choice.
I know that this thread is kinda old, but I hope it's okay if I bump it.

Anyway, I'm loving this hack so far. I have found a lot of items so far, but rather than feeling spoiled, I feel smart for finding them all; the hiding spots are all great so far, nothing too stupidly hidden, but not super obvious either.

So far, I have 4 Energy Tanks, 50 Missiles, 15 Supers, 10 Power Bombs, Charge, Wave, Gravity, Grapple, Morph Ball, Bombs, Spring Ball, and Hi-Jump.

I think I need to find green Brinstar next... Maybe Speed Booster.

The palettes are really nice. I like the kinda reddish tint to Crateria (around the ship), and purple grape Brinstar is good in an odd sort of way. The landing site is awesome too. I've had to run past my ship a lot, and it really feels like a hub, or home base. The small, enclosed space is a nice change, too.

I've gotta say, Gravity before Varia really surprised me. I'd heard that this hack is non-linear, but not to this extent. 0_0 I love you for putting Wave and Spring Ball in so early. They're some of my favorite items, and having to play through the entire game without them would have been awful.

One other thing I really liked was the Spring Ball room. When I first entered, I dropped down and was like "Hey, a Missile!" Got suspicious, Power bombed, noticed the Super in the maze, grabbed it, then went up. Needed Grapple, so I went through the door, and there it was! So I grappled up, got the missile with a damage boost off the spikes (did you intend for that? I didn't see a Grapple Point anywhere.), THEN I noticed the lower passage on the minimap. Went down, and SPRING BALL! (yay!). I almost missed that...

The grapple section in that room is just superb. Tricky, but not stupid puzzle, the second block is reachable if you jump, and the penalty for falling is failure, not spiky-floor-death.

Kinda cool Fighting Phantoon so early too. My reward for beating her/it was turning purple. ^_^

I really hope that Plasma and Space Jump aren't unavailable until the very end of the game...
What'd you say?
You made me smile, thank you.

I'm really glad that you're enjoying my hack. Yes, this hack is about as non-linear as they come. You could probably play it 15 times and not repeat a single playthrough. I honestly can't remember where I put SJ, but Plasma is
after Draygon.
As for hiding items, I tried giving hints and semi-obvious locations for the majority of them. A few items are kinda just thrown in there, which I regret doing.

Gravity before Varia is one of the possible routes, it's not intended but it's also not not intended. I'm glad you enjoyed the springball room, especially considering that that was one of my most rushed rooms. They damage boost was not intended. I had meant for a diagonal bomb jump, but either works. For the palettes, you'll notice a lot of purple, considering that it's my favorite color.

Overall, this hack was incredibly rushed and is of low quality but everyone seems to love it. I'm just happy to have entertained you for awhile. Good luck with 100%!

Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Mwahaha, another convert. aiwebs_004
Oh, hi!

Played a bit more, and it just gets better. I now have 135 Missiles, 25 Supers, and 30 Power Bombs. 6 Energy Tanks and 2 Reserves, and every item except Plasma, Space Jump, Screw Attack, and X-Ray.

Lemme ask ya something... Is the Varia Suit room a nod to Super Metroid Impossible? I liked the concept behind its placement in that hack.

I loved black Norfair and the Ice Beam room. Really cool what you did there. The recolored enemies were awesome. FYI this is my third hack; my first was Super Zero Mission, then Dependence. Your Crocomire fight is by far the best, IMO. Red and blue matches well, and the spikes were, again, tricky but not frustrating.

... I think I missed something though. Beating Croc just gave me a Power Bomb and led me back up to that metal door, which is open now. Did I miss anything important back there?

Blue Spore Spawn was a real eye-opener. I wish that I'd gone back and retried it with Gravity unequipped. I think the room design would have made a bit more sense that way. Also, did you decrease his contact damage? 5-6 per hit seems really low. Then again, it'd be a lot more damage if I were suitless at the time, but... can you reach Spore Spawn before either suit? I'd really like to hear what you have to say on this, it seems like something you'd have treated with careful consideration.

Is it possible to kill him in one hit? If so, how??

Oh, one thing I wanted to mention is that I think I've figured out why the items everywhere thing works. They're all Missile Tanks. I currently have a good supply of Missiles and Power Bombs, a decent amount of Supers, but only six Energy Tanks. Maybe I've missed a few, but I feel like I'm finding them at an even pace. If I could load up on Energy Tanks and have ten of them within the first hour, THEN I'd feel overpowered and "OMG way too many items too quickly."

So, I'm about to enter Maridia. It's my favorite area in the game by far, but I've never really played through a hack Maridia before. Super Zero Mission and Dependence didn't really have a Maridia area, and I'm really looking forward to exploring this one. It'll be interesting to see what you do with Botwoon and Draygon.
Ooh, almost forgot. I was skimming through the thread (it's hard to avoid the tempting spoilers, but I did it, heh.), and you've hidden Screw Attack and X-ray really well?

... Challenge accepted. I'll tell you when I find them.
What'd you say?
I haven't gotten far enough in Impossible to know the Varia room. So it wasn't a tribute to that hack.

I think the Ice Beam room is actually my favorite room in this hack. It's so simple but it works so well.

You didn't miss anything with Croc, he just opens the metal door, IIRC.

Spore Spawn was designed with suitless in mind, but you cannot get past his room (into Maridia) without Gravity or Tool-Assistance. I didn't want to spend forever making Maridia suitless-friendly so I just made it impossible to get to without Gravity. I also don't recall dropping his damage but I might have.

I don't think it's possible to Spore Spawn in one hit. I might be wrong though.

I tried making E-tanks a little more sparse, but not to the point to where you're constantly grinding energy. I wanted this hack to be designed around speedrunning.

A decent portion of Maridia is well-done, in my opinion, but there are a few rooms in it there are just stupidly rushed.

I had thought that I had hidden SA and X-Ray quite well, but most people found them kinda easily. Good luck!
Finished Maridia.

...

It was amazing. Just amazing.

IMO, it rivals the original Maridia. The closed-in rocky caves and tunnels, the sand pits, those really cool rooms behind Draygon... I could go on and on, really.

Oh, and I found X-ray and Screw Attack. That broken save station was the most suspicious thing ever. Screw Attack was a little better, but the little tub of sand was still pretty conspicuous.

I found X-ray and then Draygon, Screw Attack then Botwoon. Props for putting the LN elevator right there. Nice and convenient.

I was in for a nasty surprise with Draygon though. What did you do to him? I wanted to fight him the proper way, no Grapple-kill, but... I couldn't. I got him down to the red belly phase, and he started trying to grab me without the goo balls, but my Missiles and Supers weren't doing anything... I died twice! o_O

Wait, just had a thought. Maybe we fight him the proper way, then when nothing else works, finish him off with the Grapple. He does grab you...

Did you intend/program for that? If so, that's the coolest thing ever. Come to think of it, the turrets seemed a little harder to hit...

The changes to the room were great too. Nothing too different, but the sandy floor and cagey overhangs were just enough to make it feel unique without messing up the arena. Botwoon's room was excellent as well. Poor thing didn't stand a chance against Plasma though, heh. Is it possible to reach Botwoon before Draygon?

So, after that, I headed down to Lower Norfair. I was going to finish up at the elevator, but that scaffolding got the better of me. Found the path to the right, then found Space Jump, had to have it, so I Crystal Flashed through the crumble block. ...Sorry, heh.

Lower Norfair looks huge. Looks like I have a lot of exploring to do! When was I supposed to get Space Jump though? On the way out and up to Tourian after GT and Ridley are dead? I hope not, that'd be awful...

I have 10 Energy Tanks, 160 Missiles, 45 Supers, and... 35-40 Power Bombs. Still haven't found my third Reserve Tank though... The totals are 230/50/50, right?

By the way, what's going on with the broken map stations? The one in the red room in Brinstar, and the one in Maridia don't work. I found a second map station for Maridia, but I don't remember if I found the Brinstar one...

Also, I found Tatori (the turtle). Was he supposed to do anything, cuz uh... I managed to get him stuck in the ceiling above the Energy Tank...aiwebs_011
What'd you say?
I figured most people just use savestates in hacks so a broken one wouldn't be suspicious, I was wrong it seems.

As for Draygon, the only thing I changed about his fight was the room. Honestly, I ALWAYS use the grapple kill.

It is possible to reach Botwoon first. And I love instant kills on bosses. =P

To get SJ, you've got to go
to the west side of LN, there is a secret passage. Hint:
take a hot bath.

Totals are 230/50/50, yes.

The broken map stations were due to my noob hacking skills and just me rushing to complete this project.

Tatori wasn't supposed to do anything. Nice trick with him though. =P
Okay, finished up Lower Norfair, then found myself in Tourian. The themed rooms thing was a cool idea. I like the single room of pink Metroids. ^_^

Got to Mother Brain's room, then headed back for clear up. Currently saved at my ship with 12 Energy Tanks, 3 Reserves, 185 Missiles, 45 Supers, and 40 Power Bombs.

I thought I'd have more Missiles than I do...
What'd you say?
The themed rooms was a way for me to remove the statue room. I never cared for that room as it seemed to kill the flow of the game. Credit to Sadiztik Fish for the idea.

Good luck with 100%! If you get absouletly stuck and give up, Quietus has a 100% speedrun walkthrough. I'll link part 1 here.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Go, go, go! Cool
Heh, thanks guys.

Hmm, went back and cleaned up... There are two Missile Tanks and a Power Bomb in the escape, right? If so, I'm still missing 1 Energy Tank and 5 Missiles.

... Crying or Very sad

BTW, the map says that there's a recharge station in Crocomire's section of Norfair, but I can't find it. Anything there?

I'm not sure where to look. Any hints?
