I super hate you, ark. stern

i was actually genuinely surprised how much porn of her there was when i just typed her name into google images ... and what i posted was relatively tame in comparison!

guess i underestimated the internet once again ;(
One shall stand, one shall ball.
God this show is good at action scenes. Was nice to see a more traditional bender vs bender fight. Tarlok is a wonderful little bastard.
red chamber dream
i wonder what exactly his motivations are, though. could he actually be working with amon? or is he perhaps a different, but lesser evil? either way it's interesting how complex the story is getting.

just wish they didn't use so much obvious cgi ... it often just looks out of place and kind of bad.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Yeah they do handle the cgi stuff better than a lot of other shows that do it but there's really no way to make it look good.
red chamber dream
yeah it's like plastic surgery or something, we're still in the middle of the phase where we haven't quite figured it out yet ... in 10 years it'll look great
One shall stand, one shall ball.
As for Tarlok's motives, I don't think he's working with Amon at all. But he's definitely working for Amon, even if it's unintentional. At his heart I think he's an opportunist, he sees a chance to gain power in dealing with the Equalists McCarthy style and he's exploiting it, unfortunately for him he's doing it in exactly the way Amon's been saying they've already been doing. I figure he's a least somewhat well meaning and very afraid of what Amon can do and what he represents. Which is pretty much exactly the kind of person Amon is counting on being in charge during this uprising.
red chamber dream
yeah that's my general impression too. weird how he can bend blood without a full moon though ... makes me think amon is definitely a bender of some sort (i'm still calling energybender), because now we know for sure the writers are willing to expand on the limits of bending. good stuff.
red chamber dream
actually, come to think of it, what was that flashback near the end all about? was that showing tarlok doing bloodbending? or amon? guess i need to rewatch, happened so fast.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Would have to have been someone else bloodbending, Tarlok's fairly young looking so I can't imagine him ever fighting Aang.
red chamber dream
is that what it showed? flashbacks to the last airbender? i really need to watch it again lol
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I'm pretty sure I saw Aang and Toph, I mean they were older but they didn't look old. Aang made it into his 60s iirc so Tarlok's probably not directly involved. I mean he could be a wizard I guess.
red chamber dream
ah, weird, okay. for some reason i thought it was korra having a flashback to earlier scenes in the series. was kind of distracted by my roommate when i was watching. ;(
One shall stand, one shall ball.
The next ep is gonna be about Korra working out what's up with the flashbacks iirc, so we should at least have some idea by then. Hopefully with full on Aang poping in to demonstrate the Ultimate Airbending Technique:

haha, nice

yeah i hope she goes into the ~spirit world~ soon
I was confused on that last vision as well. I definitely saw Toph and Aang, but after looking around I found out Sokka is supposed to be there as well and they were dealing with Yakone, that same guy mentioned before that Aang had issues with 40+ years before the Korra storyline.

When I saw the vision I thought they had been dealing with Tarrlok since I caught enough to see Aang trying to bend but being unable to leading me to think blood bending was involved, which would make sense due to seeing it in the scene with Korra and Tarrlok already. It raised a bunch of questions with me since he looked the same despite being that far back in the past. If it was someone else it would make more sense though.

Either way it's building up to the spirit world and Aang so I think given her current situation this is the perfect time for Korra to make that connection.
red chamber dream
wow, what a way to reinsert amon as the real villain. wish this season were longer. ;(
I like turtles.
Yeah, already having the finale next week seems a bit rushed.

I'm thinkin' Korra's gonna reaaaally need that Avatar State.
red chamber dream
yeah, and are we even going to see the spirit world? maybe they're using these flashbacks instead and aren't going to go into that territory anymore. doesn't really matter to me, i love seeing how the old team avatar turned out.
One shall stand, one shall ball.

Haha no kidding. Blood bending? Nope! Get owned.

I doubt it but at the same time, the preview at the end of this episode showed Korra getting zapped by Amon that would be a pretty good time for some kinda spirit world thing, if only for Avatar Spirit shenanigans/reveal. Basically my guess is at some point during that she kicks into Avatar State and blows Amon the fuck up, sorta like Aang breaking out of the blood bend.

That flashback owned bones. Trusty boomerang indeed.

So remember when I originally said I was having a hard time finding a character I liked? Pretty sure Lin has long since proven herself now. She completely dominated in this episode. Kinda funny actually how I like Tenzin and Lin more than most of the teens/New Team Avatar. Hard for them to beat the original team, especially after this episode where it showed they still retained their old personalities for the most part as they aged.

And for me at least Amon is lingering a little too close to being the all-powerful villain after his latest stunt. He's still awesome but he's got to have some sort of weakness sooner or later. It could make complete sense once his identity is finally revealed to us though, I'll admit.

Speaking of Amon, his resistance to blood bending made my brother and I start to wonder if Amon has learned blood bending himself somehow or if he runs on more than blood, in other words is he part robot/cyborg or something like that. It still effected him a little but not anywhere near as much as everyone else who gets hit by it. Could just be like what Sokka mentioned in the flashback and that he's something new entirely, but with the increased levels of technology I wouldn't put it past them to do something like that with Amon.

So many questions right now. And they mentioned in the preview that the 1 hour finale was on the 23rd, but when we went looking for next week's episode to set up our recording and to see what they were doing in-between it has episode 10 listed there. The description said something about bombers which were clearly in the preview so I'm thinking we get episode 10 and then 11 and 12 as the finale.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
My current pet theory with a Amon is that he's in someway of the Spirit World. Either a dude that has a some kind of spirit take over in stressful situations such as having his blood manipulated, or just a straight up meddling spirit. I expect to be wrong but it would be kinda neat to have his strength be Korra's weakness.
I like turtles.
Well, he's already the antithesis to bending in general, so it wouldn't be much of a stretch for him to be her opposite on a more specific level.
I don't why a blood bender can't just insta-kill everything around them. I mean, can't they theoretically induce heart attacks at will, considering they can control the blood flow in a person's body?
