i think they knew from the second season numbers that their audience was watching the show a different way (online of course). media companies know this; they are not stupid. so they didn't bother wasting the advertising money.

now i just hope people start watching the show on nick's site.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I don't know, they tried pretty hard with their next episode previews to push the whole "You won't see it online!" thing.

Think it's still a bit optimistic to assume media companies understand the internet at all. I only saw those previews claiming I wouldn't see the next two episodes online online. :v

So internet and DVRs I guess.
red chamber dream
that stuff's practically free though, and it might work on some people. it's a last ditch effort, we know this because they've obviously changed their minds. i would much rather watch their show online (and always have) so i'm glad they made the switch.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I mean I'd have preferred it if they'd just put all the episodes online to begin with, the fact that they waited until recently to start putting this season up shows they wanted people watching on tv but they forgot to tell anyone about it so no one did.

Which is a shame cause the last episode was pretty fuckin good.

so uhhh those fight scenes ... definitely the best in korra so far

and when will the bad guys ever learn that the avatar state is a fucking savage lol

Damn, these last two episodes were pretty brutal by Avatar standards. Fantastic season finale.
I'm kinda sad that Zaheer and co were mostly destroyed as I loved them as villains but I have a lot of faith going in to season 4 now.

Time to re-watch A:TLA for the 5th time now I guess!

i was just thinking the same thing. i've only seen the whole thing twice, the last time being last september. so i think it's about that time again.

I always love a plan that starts with "Force King Shit of Fuck You in the Ass Mountain into God Mode".

They always seem so shocked when it goes poorly.
I like turtles.
The imagery in the final battle was absolutely striking.  I'm also interested to see the lasting impact on Korra - so far it seems like it won't be as easily brushed aside as in the past.

The one thing they never really explained is, given the events of the last book's finale, how the Avatar State would be any more of a threat to Zaheer than normal Korra, since its real strength is that it draws on the experience and knowledge of past Avatars in the cycle.  The sum total of which is Korra's, post-book two.
red chamber dream
you're right, they didn't really explain it. think korra's avatar state seemed way more animalistic this time, so maybe it doesn't have all those past experiences and is instead just a lot stronger

Well it's still a huge boost to have a spirit that has the bending ability of a master in all the elements hoping on board. Still lets you do things a person has no chance of doing on their own. But it was obviously less tempered by the centuries of experience controlling it and various personalities influencing things and more expressed as really pissed off Korra going apeshit on some fools backed by god powers.

Yeah, the whole "loss of inhibitions, basically turn into an animal" thing was what I would think the reasoning is.  They haven't really brought that out in a big way though, other than hinting at it when the one Guru explained it to Aang way back in the second season of TLA.

Just caught up on the 2nd half of the season and yeah, now that you guys mention it Korra did seem a lot more chaotic with her avatar state than we've normally seen. Between the poison and the severed link it kind of makes sense but I wouldn't have thought of it that way until now. Battle itself was quite intense and the season certainly picked up in these last few episodes. Would probably still put Airbender's finale at the top of the list if I had to choose though.

Quite a few darker moments this season too, such as how Zaheer took out the Earth Queen. Easy to forget sometimes that the show is darker in general than Airbender but also that both are aimed at older audiences than Nick's usually going for.

Damn, that's definitely sooner than I expected but I guess they where doing season 3 and 4 almost simultaneously.

nice. i'm glad it's so soon. this winter is going to be packed with great shows, looking forward to it considering summer always sucks for tv

it's official now, book 4 starts 3 october! http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/09/11/the-legend-of-korra-book-four-premiere-date-announced

i'm pumped, though it kinda sucks nickelodeon seems to want to just be done with the show

Well now I'm just happy that they signed on for season 3 and 4 at the same time and had 4 mostly done when 3 aired because otherwise there would have been no chance in hell that we'd get this 4th season.
Almost happy
This is still probably more of an advance notice than we got with last season though lol.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Any advance notice is more than we got for season 3. They just dropped that shit from the sky one day.
red chamber dream
i just hope the creators can pitch a third series to another network
red chamber dream

um hell yes
That line at the end. grin new

Overall it looks like it's going to be another intense season, but at this point I wouldn't want anything else. If this is the end of the Avatar universe for a while/ever let's go out strong.
Almost happy
Really loved the first episode of the season. No big payoffs or anything obviously, it's an episode that spends its time setting up a lot of different threads but I'm loving where pretty much everything is going. Kuvira is great.

This Wu guy is a tool and Kuvira Genghis Khan-ing her way to victory is the only satisfactory ending to this season. Not talking
