One shall stand, one shall ball.
I don't really know, some textures have a sort of 'painted on' look, like sort of better than 'real'.

Like, if this were a real place that you could go to, you know it would not look like that.
i painted some cum on urmom's face, and it's definitely real.

well, it's a video game in the end. the bloom is actually used well.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I know it is. That's kind of my point. It's not photorealistic and that's why it's good.
red chamber dream
ah you know what, it looks like a live-action movie i guess. the parts they want you to see are lit or otherwise exaggerated so you'll notice them. works very well.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
it's honestly the only game I've seen where "looks like a movie" would be a good description. Bet they could make Other M not seem like a cutscene fest. :(
Metroid done with cel-shading???  Hmm...  I try to keep an open mind, but I dont know about that.

Anyways, I think this game looks like it's gonna be fucking awesome, just like all of the other metroids.  Yes, I love them all, especially Echoes and Fusion. :P
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Now you're just trolling. Razz
at least with the echoze part, yeah.
FUQ, tbob.  You know that Echoes is my fav one in the prime series.  It's a matter of opinion so there's nothing to argue about. There's alot of things that you really like that I think suck, but I use a little bit of this thing called 'tact' when deciding what to say or not say.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
The emote indicated a less than serious tone.

That is the secret to half of my posts!

Realistic gameplay is where I think the problem comes in.  It's what makes Grand Theft Auto entirely unplayable to me.  I could walk outside and do everything I can do in that game, if I really felt like it.

Except score a super model and get her in your bed that night by offering her coffee. Actually scoring a super model period.

Shwing.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I'd love a cel shaded Metroid.  Preferably 2D, of course.  I think what some people struggle with is bypassing the cel shading = bright rainbow colours thing.  Colours are irrelevant to cel shading, as it's just another way of texturing stuff, and can use any colour combinations you fancy.  Wind Waker looked so amazing because the series had often been bright, with vivid colours, so they had free reign with the brightness.  If you took some of the more prominent colours from Wind Waker, like the blue from the sea or the green from Link's outfit, and put them in another game, it'd be vomit-inducing.
This thread took a weird turn.

I always thought that the 2D games were cartoon-y anyway. Certainly Zero Mission is, it's like a game of the emanga.

how could you even make something 2D cell shaded? Just add a black border around all the sprites?
red chamber dream
think he just meant a sidescroller.
Did WindWaker have borders around everything? Animal crossing? Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike?
Cel-shading doesn't have black borders.

And ark, I don't get what you mean. SM, Fusion and Zero mission all have quite a 'drawn' look about them, too me.
red chamber dream
cel-shaded generally refers to a type of 3d animation. you wouldn't call a 2d game "cel-shaded".

Animal crossing wasn't cel-shaded <.<

Cel shading doesn't ALYWAYS have black borders, but its there more than it's not. The closest thing to a 2D cel-shaded game I can think of is that scribblenauts game.

Perhaps Viewtiful Joe or something?
This is the hardcore/casual argument all over again aiwebs_007
Is cartoon-esque, as a description, synonymous with cel-shading?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Nah, we're just trying to think of games that had a similar appearance in a 2D environment.  Did Jet Set ever do a 2D version?

Ah, yeah, I'd consider Viewtiful to be cel-shaded, although it does use 3d models.

Playing a new cel-shaded zelda game on the 3DS sounds like fun.

Is scoring a supermodel physically impossible?  Or even fun to do in a video game?  No, and no.

You can't be chased by tanks, helicopters, and countless police cars, drive into a garage, get your car completely repainted in a matter of seconds, and drive out, and be completely invisible to the cops until you do something bad again.
