yea, once im done with my run, im going to speed run it, especially with my new speed tricks. but for now, im stuck.
Quote from Dr. Trence:
sounds like a speed run to me...about 40 minutes of the current speed run done by Mr Potter, which is 1:53 something..
You mean mine? It's 1h 54m by the way. I learned some new tricks and I might go through the game again, using them I should get sub 1h 40m. Thanks to Mr Potter for the trick to skip the Barbed Warp Wasps in Ice Hive.
you can skip them? how? i havent heard of that trick..and i should..

I think he was talking about my time, because I was 40 minutes slower than the record of Mr. Potter.

And well, a little update: I'm a bit faster now, I got 2h 17m 0s. I still have to learn some tricks and I sometimes screw up by walking the wrong way or just doing something I'm not supposed to do :P
I still don't know all the rooms in this game so there's a lot to improve. I don't even know what route I should take to make my run faster... :?

+ The bosses and Guardians are a pain. I don't seem to do them fast enough. I guess if I only do the bosses and Guardians quicker I can get near 2hours. Anyone got some usefull tips (like which weapons I should use where and how to do the boss fights faster?)

check the page behind this one. Mr Potter found a better/faster route.

As for the guardians, i always use the judicator beam, about 4 shots of that and there dead. i dont know about the bosses, but yea. and for speed tricks, check the speed tricks disscusion. liku and me found some new st's.

Thanks. It might be useful Wink

Thanks! I don't wanna spend hours to find out what is the best weapon. I think if this works real fast I can get A LOT of my time. Most of the time I spend useless is at Guardians; sometimes they take forever because I can't hit their heads (they jump and do stuff). I'm gonna try out out tonight. Thanks again! :D
For me, against the pillar boss (Version 3 and 4) the easiest thing to use against each of the weapon spots is the Magmaul. It seems to take them out in one shot, and if you can aim it correctly, possibly take multiple spots out at once.

Once the interior exposes itself above, I normally switch to the Shock Coil, since it locks on, fires very fast, and doesn't take up a lot of ammo.

Edit: Can't think of any other "tricks" to the bosses, besides using the correct weapon on the eyeball boss, once it begins to have a weakness.
to me i think the shock coil doesn't give a lot of damage. i remember fighting a guardian with it, but it didn't give a lot a damge. but that was a while back, the only "real" weapons i use against most the hunters and guardians is the judicator and magmaul. but hey, thats me.

i didn't use the magmaul on cret. v4, i first faced him last night, but he seemed very hard. and rekameohs mentioned an "easy" was to kill him, but he told me to find out the easy way myself (just a joke.. i hope) does anyone know how to kill cret v4 using the "easy" way?
PAGE BREAKER
Ready and willing.
The battlehammer is the fastest firing weapon of all the area of effect weapons, which can take out multiple dots at once, and I *think* the core is weak to it too, although it's hard to hit with the gravity-affected battlehammer.
cool, i'll use the battlehammer on him tonight. but i still don't know what the "easy" way is. but, i'm sure it doesn't matter.
Well. I did another run. I'm starting to get the hang of it. I still use Powerbeam to kill the guardians (charged headshots 8-) ) but only bosses and random encounters with Hunters get on my nerves.. Does anyone know more about the randomness of the Hunters and Guardians?

Anyway, my time is 2:09 (20% complete). If I only did some parts better I can get near 2 hours (sub 2 hours is my target). I think my next run wil be near 2h:05m... I still have a lot to improve... :?
If you're using the Power Beam, you're wasting a lot of time during battles. Dr. Trench's Judicator fact is really good, works well.

New run finished! Spoiler Warning:

I used a grip of new tricks, many thanks to Mr. Potter for making me realize you can skip the Barbed War Wasp Battle with Sparky's trick.

Woa, that's a very VERY nice time! But how am I supposed to shave 23 minutes of my time? I only played the game 5 times, but still, this seems impossible for me. Like 10 minutes of my current time won't be to big of a problem but I don't know how you did this? Great job btw! 8-)

(Isn't it about time for a video of such a run? If that is possible with the DS?)

And about the Judicator: On which bosses am I supposed to use it?I'm already using it on the Slench and the other Octolith Bosses... (They die fast Wink ) Does it work on Guardians too?

... yes. i already mentioned that it can kill the guardians in up to 4 shots... you even quoted liku's post that said my trick works good...
my first time beating the game:

total: 9 hours, 39 minutes
gorea 1 time: 14 minutes, 5 secs.
%: 38
deaths: 27
hunters and guardians killed: 78

I'd love to record it if it wasn't so uncomfortable. And the direct-feed thing isn't for public use, so I'll never get that. Also, I don't have a DS Lite, and probably won't get one, so it won't be approved of.
when i get my fastest time down, i might record it. i know how uncomfortable it is, but i found a way to play it regulary, while you are recording it, but as of right now, i haven't tried it yet, but i'm sure it will work.

lol you times will be even lower if you can kill gorea in less than 120 seconds with the freeze mode giltch.
I was browsing for useful info but I haven't heard this before. Can you explain how this trick works?

From what I understand you shoot him with the Imperialist from a distance when he's changing forms... but in the video he seems to break out of it really quickly.

Then how is it possible to beat him in 120 seconds? I mean, if it's not possible to let Gorea stay frozen, how can you ever beat him with this trick, or is it because of the video that the trick didn't fully work? It's really important for my run because now I only managed to kill Gorea 1 in 4:57. And I don't know, but that's a lot of time added to the total time of the game. 2 Minutes would be, like very usefull to get Shocked

finished my first time today... 9:42, 63%, and something like 23 deaths.

thats sad. the topic creator had more than double my deaths and still finished ahead of me.  Embarassed

That's what I said, the trick didnt seem to be practical at all.
