Holy crap, finally.  I meant to post this last night but I got tired and then after school I had to go to work.  I found out what I did.

After restarting for another game I began to slowly recap everything.  I think the trick is Artifact collecting in VDO.
As you already know, I always go for the Imperialist first.  It saves ammo and time if you get headshots.  If you have the Imperialist and do VDO part2 first, you can actually have enough time to get the Artifacts in VDO part1.  First you need to collect the Battlehammer and then go to the red door and finish beating the boss.  On the way out, you defeat Sylux and get the Artifact and also get the other Artifact that was guarded by the Lesser Ithraks.

Wow I cannot believe I haven't figured that out since the beginning, sorry guys.

Two things. The first thing is that that wouldn't save ten minutes; maybe two or three, but no way ten. Second, that doesn't work; during the escape the boss portal to Cretaphid 2 doesn't work.

I'm starting to think you're not telling the truth about your time despite your video on YouTube, since you're posting things like that and failing to come up with a good reason you improved ten minutes over the world record time.

EDIT: I plan on getting a DS Lite on the 11th (might be later, I don't know yet). I still won't have access to a camera, though; should I gain access to one and also obtain the headphone thing, I will definitely try to record a run.
headphone thing is no prob, five bucks from radio shack.
Well if you guys dont trust me then fine.

Why don't you try to have a "perfect" MPH run (I'm mainly looking at Mr Potter cause he's the one closest to my time)?  Close to perfect at least.  I had to restart many times to get that 1:27 and even walk away even with a ~10 second messup.  Have all headshots (no misses) on the Guardians and Hunters, no wrong turns, the perfect bomb jumps, almost everything.  Keep in mind that my previous 1:38 had multiple errors that I didn't really care about and includes a 1 death.

There are some things I didnt mention like scaling the edges in Celestial Archives (the place with all those platforms and tower) to get to the next door because I've mentioned it before but it only saves about 5 secs.  Standing on where the Artifact Key appears.  Only collecting the minimum amount of stuff which is really (IMO) 1 energy tank but I got 2 anyways and 4 UA Tanks.

I've been posting since April and yeah sure that's a short amount of time to be a M2002 member but I still helped out in the MPH boards.

(I dont pay attention to the bosses number so all I know are Creta and Slench)
And also, I never said I went to battle to the boss of VDO part1, I collected 2 Artifacts on the escape sequence of VDO part2 and ran to the ship.  The 2 Artifacts are from the Sylux battle and the room where there is a force field on the floor and when you beat all of those eye monsters you fall down there and take the platform back up.
Did you know you can still hit the Ithraks while they're hanging on the ceiling?  1 fully charged Magmaul can take it down.

Been doing it since day one....

Or us a Charged PB shot.
Talking some more with Liku the other day, it turns out Liku's route wasn't as good as the one I've been using, but he still got almost as good a time as I did. Meaning he can get through the rooms quicker. If you were a little quicker than Liku, you could probably have gotten that time. So sorry about not believing you earlier.
New Time: 1:46:51 (any %). Room for improvement so sub 1:45 is next. Should be no problem... grin new
Awesome, you're hanging with the big boys now.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!
Today, well actually tonight, I managed to pull off some tricks I didn't used before and came out with 1:40:06 (that's with 19%).

So, with a few retries on Gorea I'm probably sub 1:40 (I was going for sub 1:45, but damn; Imperialist makes such a difference in combat aiwebs_016 ...)

I will keep Speedrunning this game, because I know sub 1:38 or even 1:37 is possible for me without too much trouble. If only there were some more little SBs... aiwebs_008
Yeah, well damn this game for being so linear. I wish I could finish the run I have going, but my DS charger decided to give in, so my DS is without power!

That's what SequenceBreaks are for...  aiwebs_008

(Messing up the basic lineair gameplay makes Hunters more interesting to speedrun grin new  )

Yeah, but we shouldn't have to resort to SBs for a non-linear Metroid, that's what makes Metroid so great.

Let's see:
Metroid is definitely nolinear
MII RoS is linear unless you resort to SWs
SM has what is definitely an intended route, even though the developers clearly anticipated people ignoring this route (and DIDN'T CARE, something Retro nedds to learn how to do)
Fusion nonlinear? HA!
Prime: without SBing, you can't take any route but the hint system's
MZM: look at Metroid
Prime 2: see Prime
Hunters: A bit more linear than MZM

So, 4/8 are linear without SBing, Hunters falling under the nonlinear category.
Anywhere, everywhere
Yeah, Hunters is definitely non linear with choosing different Octos, planets, and such. The bad thing about Hunters right now is that there aren't any "major" sequence breaks (yet), just minor speed tricks.
Finished my latest run - 1:32. I no longer doubt your time, jackie. Working on another one; I hope to beat or at least match the 1:28 time.

You have to beat 1:27 actually.

1:27:xx? What? Seconds are also important on runs.
YEAH! I tried it once more because my 1:40:06 was a prttey lame time to have. Now, without doing much improvement I managed to munch some seconds off. Now I have 1:37:57 (19%). Seems good enough, so I probably won't play more Single Player until some mayor tricks are found. It's getting pretty boring, too...
If it wasn't for Stasis Bunker, I'd probably have my next time by now. :(

About the Volt Driver skip attempt; maybe we can still abuse death to get there really quick after we get VD?
I played a 15% run today and managed to get these stats:

- 3:46 (15%)
- 39 Deaths
- 56 Hunters/Guardians
- 9:09 Gorea Time (With a 1:54 Gorea 2 battle grin new)

So, as far as I know this is the new unnofficial 15% record. 8-) (Has anybody besides me even done a 15% run yet?)
I was trying to do my Low Percent Run but sold my DS before completion so yeahh...  Anyways, is 15% officially the lowest percentage in the game?  No Health Orbs and only 1 size UA Ammo?
The way I've been doing 15% runs:
- No Energy Tanks, Missile Expansions, or UA Expansions
- All six Weapons and all 8 Octoliths (I'm guessing this is where 14% of the total comes from. If we manage to find a SB somewhere, I bet that less than 15% is possible.)
- Scan only what is needed to complete the game, anything else will most likely raise the percentage too much. (This is probably the other percent.)

If you play anything like I do, prepare to die often to Slench 4 until you get a lucky battle. After I get it down to 1/3 health, things become nasty because I can only take two of those charge attacks maximum before I'm dead. (Since it deals out 35 damage a shot and I only have 99 energy total)
w00t, finally finished my first speedrun.

2:10
21%
4 Energy Tanks
4 Missile Tanks
8 UA Tanks
Gorea 1: 5:36

I was hoping for under 2 hours, and I was pretty close, so I guess it was pretty good. I started over a month ago, so I missed a lot of the new techniques that have been found since then, and I think I could do it with 3 energy tanks and 1 missile tank, but even with 8 UA tanks I was still running out on the bosses, and of coures there are plenty of little things I could work on. I'll try again for under two hour sometime later, I need to finish NSMB now :P
My new best time: 1:49:29 with 23% :D
Question, if you used a Secret World to obtain a new WR, will it still be a WR or will it not because the use of the Secret World is prohibited by the SDA?

I don't know. I think we should stay with SDA's rules so we won't get confused when someone finally records a run.

Ready and willing.
Well that all depends on who you put your authority in as the "keeper" of World Records.
