Last night I purposely dropped my best weapons, shields, and bows on the ground.  I don't want to say why because spoilers.  But when I went to pick them back up, I found they were gone forever, and the only way I could get them back was to reload a previous save.  That would mean losing the accomplishment I had spent the whole evening working on.  I opted to keep going without the weapons.  Screw it.
Can you tell me in a spoiler tag? I haven't found that
It was called Eventide Island, I think.  When you step on the beach, they take all of your weapons and a trial begins. I dropped my best weapons right before they took my weapons away because I wanted to see if I would be able to just pick them up.  I WAS able to pick them up, and use them in the trial, but when the trial was over they said they were giving me my weapons back, and what they gave me was the same crappy stuff they took away at the beginning, and the good stuff was GONE forever  :(
Oh yeah I did that, you don't have to drop them, your stuff is just disabled until you're done there
I know you don't have to, I did it on purpose without realizing that it would cause them to be taken away from me later.  The weapons I dropped were very helpful during the trial.
Yeah I mean you get back what you start the trial with, and if you drop stuff beforehand to cheese it you don't have it on you when the trial starts
When you drop stuff before the trial, you can pick it right back up and use it in the trial.  That's why I did it.  I dropped it on the beach a couple of steps away from where the voice comes and takes away your shit.  When the trial begins, the weapons you dropped are on the ground right behind you and you can pick them up and use them in the trial.
I just didn;t think about how when the trial was over, they would return my inventory to what it was when the voice came and lose everything that I picked up on the island.  They considered the weapons I dropped on the beach to be items I found on the island, and erased them.

Yeah.. of course. All that shit just breaks sooner er later anyways.
True but it's not easy to replace the good ones.  It's not like you can go buy them somewhere, at least not that I know of yet (no spoily!)
One of the items I lost was a reward for killing a big boss, too.  I went from having multiple powerful weapons that were at full durability to having a tree branch, no bows, and a pot lid for a shield.

wow, the director of this game also did the oracles and minish cap. no wonder it's so good

he also did skyward sword, and i can see the influence from that too. that game had some good ideas that are more realized in botw. the stamina bar, for example

i've gotten a bit further in -- i'm approaching hateno village, which atm i assume is where the rito live. love how they've become one of the main races in zelda. they're easily just as cool as the zora or gorons. it's really slow going for me because i like exploring every part of the map. there's so much cool shit to find everywhere. so far i've been alternating between heart and stamina upgrades, and i think that's been working well.

also glad to hear the gerudo are in this game. hopefully there's deku too ... haven't done any dungeons or found any divine beasts yet, but i have seen a giant fucking dragon flying around. dunno if that's a boss or what, but it looks pretty crazy

i've noticed this game doesn't preserve the entire world state when you save, unlike western rpgs like skyrim or fallout. i wanted to sneak up on a horse, so i saved first out of habit, but when i screwed up and reloaded my save, the horse was no longer right in front of me.
I've noticed that it rains way too much in this game.  There's a few things you can't do when it's raining, and if you're in a part of the game that requires you to do one of those things then you just have to sit there and wait.  There has been several times where I just put down the controller for a while and did something else because there wasn't a thing I could do as long as it was raining.  Some days it seems to rain almost all day.  They could cut the frequency of rain in half in this game and it would still be plenty.

There's also a glitch with the blood moon.  For some reason, my sweetie's game has this glitch.  The blood moon animation triggers constantly. He gets it more times in one hour of play than I have gotten it in my entire 50 hours.  Others have complained of this too.  I don't think anyone knows what causes it or how to make it stop.
You can still make progress climbing if you jump every 5 steps, but yeah, it's annoying. There doesn't seem to be any remedy. Thought climbing set bonus could be something, but nope.
You can make progress, but you still end up using several times as much stamina per foot of ascension.  If you have a long way to climb, you would need to use several stamina regens.  I tried this once and went through all my stamina regens and still ran out right before I got to the top, so they were wasted :(.
It also stinks when you need to use fire or bomb arrows.
Finally found the damn korok forest!

agree that it rains too much. you can always pass time by a fire or something, but if you're climbing up in the mountins, there's usually no place for a fire. i think you can drop wood and light it with a flint, but i haven't tried yet

i got a sweet hat that increases your climbing speed though, so that's pretty cool
yeah you can build a fire but not in the rain :(
Club 27 Goals
man, breath of the wild is polished so damn well. It's really amazing that Nintendo came back from the shity-sky zelda and even Twilight Princess and made a really fascinating new zelda.

I just wish the Switch was as ground breaking as zelda lol

yeah it's crazy how great this game feels and plays compared to others. nobody does that kind of thing better than nintendo

and i'm impressed with how packed the world is with stuff to do, too. no wonder it was delayed for two years

It's just so incredibly FUN.  When I sit down to play, I have a clear plan on what I want to do and where I want to go. But it's not unusual for me to never make it to my planned destination, as I just keep seeing more and more things that I have to check out.  To progress, I need to put on blinders and just focus on one goal at a time.
I did that on Friday, and my goal was to unlock as many towers as possible.  I found 6 that I was able to unlock, so I can see most of the map now (I think).
Last night I just went through my adventure log and focused on side quests.  I finished 9 of them I think.  The desert is FULL of side quests.  The gerudo desert alone is as big as a regular zelda game.
I can't find any damn electric darmers (dragonflies).  I know I've seen them before, but where?
Bought one from Riverside Stable Beedle half an hour ago, but in the wild I think they're around the Gerudo area
I haven't found that stable I guess because I went to every stable and every town and talked to every person and nobody had one of those for sale.  I found just about every single item in the game for sale - except that one.  I kind of think the game knows I need one, and that's why I can't buy one.  There are two other items I need to find as well, and despite seeing them for sale everywhere, they're now not available for sale anywhere simply because I have a side quest that requires that item.

Horse controls.  I went through hell and back getting not only the best horse, but the best eqpt for the horse.  Regardless, the horse isn't any easier to control aside from the horse no longer fighting you at random when the taming score is below 100.  When I want to slow down or stop, I press down, and I get different results.  Sometimes I have to press down many times before the horse stops, sometimes I press down once to slow down and the horse stops.  It's like pressing down does different things at different times randomly.  I also can't figure out why the horse decides to turn on its own.  I thought this would go away once I improved everything about the horse, but there's no change.  It puts a luck factor in things like races and obstacle courses because you never know when the horse will decide to turn.  I'm really bummed out about this because I thought getting around on a horse would be so great once I upgraded everything as much as possible, but aside from the top speed, I see little difference between the worst horse and the best one.

Riverside Stable is in southeast Central Hyrule, west of Kakariko

Right next to the Wahgo Katta Shrine
I haven't found that one yet
