made huge progress today. explored two whole sections of the map and found the korok village. lost woods was pretty dope this time. it's funny how easy it would have been to find early on, had i traveled north instead of east. love how flexible this game is
Nice. Last night I found FOUR new stables, about 30 more korok seeds, 8 spirit orbs, found three memories, and started about 6 new side quests. And none of that even came with the unlocking of a new area.
dang. i did a ton of shit last night again myself. didn't feel like dealing with the guardians in akkala just yet, so i went totally off course and reached a stable in the NW most section, but i don't want to activate the tower there just yet. instead i decided to find the rito, and i'm glad i did. rito village is my favorite town so far, and it's cool seeing that divine beast up close.
the rito village music is a fucking incredible take on the dragon roost island theme. i just sat listening to it in headphones for a few loops before actually doing anything. best track i've heard so far
i feel like i have so many options right now. i've explored right up to where i think the gorons are, so i guess i'll do the rito divine beast and head to the gorons next.
I found the last great fairy (I think) and am just now heading up to where the Rito are. The Rito DB is the final one for me. I have 2 full stamina wheels, One full row plus 6 hearts, 265 korok seeds, and 80+ shrines completed.
There's definitely been issues with balance when it comes to items. There are some that I seem to have way way too many of, and some that it seems impossible to ever have enough. I know that it's not a mistake that some items are rare than others, but ice keese wings? I think I've had more diamonds than those so far. I've been to so many cold places but you hardly ever see an ice keese. I've spent over an hour looking for those and found like 3 of them. They can keese my ice if they think I'm going to keep farming for something stupid like that (sorry couldn't resist the stupid pun).
Yeah and star fragments. I've found two since the game started. TWO. I've seen four land, but I was only able to get two of them. They land so far away that they're gone by the time you get there.
have you tried tracking ice keese wings with the sheikah slate? i haven't needed to use the tracker much yet, but you're way ahead of me. i just spent all my ice keese wings at a fairy fountain though, so guess i better keep an eye out for more ... i now have a bunch of armor i can't upgrade, so i have to start looking for stuff like electric lizalfos horns or whatever. there's no way i'm not going to 100% this game heh.
and lol yeah i've found 1 star fragment. i don't know what they're used for so don't tell me, but i've heard you need a bunch of them. that's gonna be a pain
I have used the sheikah tracker, but I wish you didn't have to be so close to something to make it go off. By the time it beeps, I can pretty much already see the thing I was looking for.
Can you slash keese wings on the ground with an ice weapon to ice them? I already had enough so I didn't try it.
If you make a camp on Dueling Peaks, go to night and stare at Hyrule Castle, you're almost guaranteed to get a shooting star. Looks like they only fall where you're currently looking so then you can just glide down and get it. Haven't gotten one that was too far away unless it was already like 4 AM by the time it fell. The highest level of Lynels can also drop Star Fragments, but I've never gotten one.
Also just 100%ed it. I was looking forward to missing one last map location or Korok seed and go insane going over the map over and over, but no such luck.

I tried ice weapons on the keese and on the wings and they just stay regular wings. I got the idea from the chu-chus because it works on them.
i just stood on top of dueling peaks for 4 solid nights and no shooting star. Great view though. I'm wondering why they're not falling, though. I hope my game isn't glitched like some people's are with the blood moon shenenigans. No shooting stars for me :(
The blood moon glitch is apparently just related to sleep mode with the game open, the game keeps track of the time even while suspended and then gives you the appropriate amount of blood moon cutscenes in a row when you resume. You can just restart the game to fix it.
It's funny how some people are reacting to the 'difficulty' of this game. I think this is the hardest game that some Zelda fans have ever played. They blame their suckiness on the game immediately, as if they don't realize that the difficulty level is not anything new or extreme as far as video games go. The combat in this game is relatively simple, but they're acting like it's rocket science. wtf is wrong with people?
They probably hate that it's unforgiving, which it is. People hate Game Over screens, no matter how impactful it actually is in the context of the game. Mistakes that used to cost you a heart in other Zeldas now cost you 5-10. Doesn't help that the combat isn't particularly engaging unless it's a Lynel.
I think it's totally forgiving. Just like other zeldas, they give you way more health than you need. In this game, you have it more in the form of food/elixirs though. You can refill your health almost limitlessly. What's more, the action pauses when you go to the submenu, giving you all the time in the world to heal, switch weapons, plan your next move. I haven't seen a game over screen since the beginning, where it was just like playing a Zelda game on hard/hero mode when you only have a few hearts so one hit can kill you. But beyond that part of the game, it's relatively easy imo.
i hear ya opium. i actually think it's pretty easy, but only if you're willing to experiment and totally get into the weapon system. it's all about coming out of most battles with better gear than you started with.
i do find combat engaging now that i jump more and get flurry attacks. pretty much every attack is easy to dodge once you know how, especially against lynels. i haven't died in many hours myself. and yeah i use tons of cooked food. pretty much always have 10+ extra hearts, and i'm a big fan of the defense+ and attack+ meals. it helps that ironshrooms are super common.
and if you're smart you can save ingredients by cooking meals that add like, 2 extra hearts and use them purely for recovery. i think one endura carrot can be used for that. same for food that extends your stamina meter. that doubles as full stamina recovery.
I feel that I've pretty much mastered the flurry so I'm working more on parrying. The window is super forgiving. Before I concentrated on parrying, I really wasn't using my shields for hardly anything because they get put away whenever you fight with two handed weapons, and that's what I use most. It took a while to remember to put the weapon away so I could get my shield out. My fav thing to parry is the shots from the guardians. I bought a super strong guardian shield and went to hyrule castle and went around parrying all the shots from the guardians and wasting them all. I have tons of guardian parts now. As soon as their eye turns blue, parry. Works like a dream.
Sure, but all of that stuff can be seen as pointless busywork that they don't want to bother with by people coming from the last couple Zelda games. You wouldn't have to constantly stock up on heals if the enemies did Twilight Princess damage and dropped hearts. Zelda enemies used to be mostly mild obstacles that distract you from figuring out a puzzle. Now there's a lot more focus on it, but it's not all that interesting, so it kinda pleases neither those who don't like combat nor those who really focus on it. I don't care either way but I also know what to expect and want from Zelda, lol.
it makes you put more effort into exploring the world, which i find more rewarding. plus there essentially hearts everywhere. i have like 300 apples and i've never gone out of my way to collect them. that's 150 hearts right there, no cooking required. so it's totally optional, just makes the game harder if you don't do it.
opium yeah the only enemies i've successfully parried are guardians. but i've also gone through several shields when i fuck up the timing lol. thank god for ancient arrows
