If the difference lies in the intentions of the person who bought the game, then you should ask the cart dumpers why did they do such a thing.
And even if it's not, that won't make much sense from the selling company's point of view, anyway: they sell just one game, but a lot of people plays it. Not any more different than in the scenario of dumping a ROM.
By the way, I had my own cart of SM which I accidentally lost by giving it to my friend (and my friend giving it to somebody else,... you know the drill).
By the way #2, should I treat "dirty rotten thief" as an insult from a mod? :P
Yoshi's an admin, not a mod. And he can't spell "thief". :P
Actually, I believe that technically just having people over to watch one of your DVDs is illegal. No one's going to do anything about it, but it's still supposedly illegal. I would assume the same goes for lending people games/movies.
Like I said, no one in their right mind would enforce those laws, but I think that technically it's illegal. I could do some research to back myself up, but it's not worth it.
That would involve owning them. Notice how both games are for the same system? (True, MII is in a sense for the GBA too, but it's much older and therefore harder to find.)
It would make sense that I only own ZM and fusion, but this isn't exactly the case.
I own Metroid (it's on the bonus features on ZM). I own Metroid II, and I sometimes play it, but I still haven't completed it. I own Prime, and I got to the first savepoint and never played it again. I own Prime 2, and I played for about an hour and a half, and then stopped. I own Hunters, and I forget where I am on that one. And I hear it will be possible to play Super on the Wii, which I'm getting. (Don't know this for sure though.)
I will get back to Hunters and Metroid II, and probably the Prime's, but not anywhere in the immediate future.
definitely give prime another chance if you get the time. it starts out really slow, and it seems really awkward at first, but over time, you come to really love it.
I cut 5 minutes off of my Fusion time, bringing it down to 1:08. TMT is now a clean 10:20. (12:57 with Hunters)
It's amazing what you can do when you don't save or recharge as much as you used to in a run. Need to start trying that for every Metroid game and see if I have the same kind of results.
Now I just need to figure out where I can cut another 21 minutes out of my time...
Edit: Heh, I can see it now... I finally am able to get under 10 hours just as MPH is officially added to the TMT.
Metroid - :35 (NES Classics GBA cart) ZM - :30 (getting closer ^_^) Prime - 5:14 (100%...my bro took the GC as he moved out) Echoes - 20:00 (note goes here) RoS - 1:58 (lent by a friend) SM - 2:55 (100%, emu, no savestates) Fusion - :57 (1%) --- 31:19 (TMNT)
Looks like I just need a decent time on the primes to compete. I think I can definitely get under 10 if I give it enough effort. I'm kind of disappointed in my Prime disc, though, because I have the NA Players' Choice (are these actual players choosing?) version.
Hunters takes me up to 51:19. sub-10 is looking pretty tough -_- (subliminally egging on Scarlet to SS1%) Come on, Red! Everyone else is doing it!
UBEREDITED an update to my ZM time. 2 minutes off.
ANY-% Super metroid: 0.59 Metroid fusion: 0.54 Metroid zero mission: 0.31 Metroid prime 2 echoes: 2.16
LOW-% Metroid fusion: 0.59 (1% item) Metroid zero mission: 0.43 (9% item) Metroid prime 2 echoes 5.50 (22% item)
100% Metroid fusion: 1.22 Metroid zero mission 0.58
I improving my total metroids times once again:
ANY-% Super Metroid: 0.47 Metroid Fusion: 0.54 Metroid Zero Mission: 0.29 Metroid Prime: 2.41 Metroid Prime 2 echoes: 2.16 Metroid Prime Hunters: 16.10
LOW-% Metroid Fusion: 0.57 (1%) Metroid Zero mission: 0.41 (9%) Metroid Prime 2 Echoes: 5.50 (22%)
100% Super Metroid: 1.12 Metroid fusion: 1.22 Metroid Zero Mission: 0.56 Metroid Prime: almost 8 hours Metroid prime 2 echoes: too much (i think 12 hours)
-i think i must be complete orginal metroid once again so i can increase my total time possible low, but i don,t like that game. I must be practice lot, because game is hard try complete without deaths.
Regarding DVDs and the watching of, I do know that it's illegal to "publically" show a rented or bought media without special permission. Which, I guess, could be interpreted as that.
I know that showing it in a classroom, for example, counts. And showing something to a large group of friends seems very equal to showing something to your class, so that should count, too.
And it's an old law. At least here. I clearly recall reading warnings about such on VHS tapes now and then.
Too bad I have hardly completed any Metroid games... I did play Fusion but I can't remember the clear time. :) ZM any% clear time is 43min 57sec, Super Metroid any% clear time 46 min (pal-version), and 100% 1:30.
Zero Mission has fallen to 0:33 as of the other day, Prime is now 1:49, and Super is 0:44. Taking those into account, I now have a 09:59 TMT. (12:36 with Hunters)
Finally managed to break past the 10 hour mark. 8-) Sure, it's only by one minute, but it counts.
Thanks. 8-) Feels great to have finally made some sort of achievement like this. And with my ZM time being about five minutes away from the current record, that makes me feel even better about my skills.
It doesn't hurt that I've only run through the original Metroid twice though, which is why that time is still as high as it is. I was on my way to a better time until I ran out of missiles late into Tourian (Attacking MB I believe) and haven't tried running it since.
As for Fusion, well... not really sure what's up with that. Perhaps I need to download the record run through it and check that out. Doing the same for the other games has certainly helped out my times for them.
