Single Segment or segment? 1% is no fun if its segment grin new

Segmented. I wanted to speedrun it, but I also wanted to master some tricks while I played. Isn't it like a 10 sec load from each save? I lost 1 min 40 secs from just saving lol.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Shaved eight minutes off of my Fusion time for 1:21, one day I'll actually try to dig up my time for Prime and get the total time done by a good bit. :p

As I said, MPH has been the only Metroid game I've been completely interested in speed running.

Alright - here are my times:

Metroid: 4:59 h - I don't remember my real time, but it was the ending without the helmet, so I took the worst possible time.

Metroid II RoS: 20:00 h

Super Metroid: 1:10 h

Metroid Fusion:  any% 0:50 h
                          100% 1:15 h
                              1% 0:54 h

Metroid Prime:  any% PAL 1:23 h
                        100% PAL 2:08 h

Metroid Zero Mission: any% 31:38 h

Metroid Prime 2 Echoes: 4:08 h  - no SBs or real speedrun - never got into it in Echoes - just a normal ss run

Metroid Prime Hunters: 8:37 h (first and last playthrough)

Metroid Prime 3 Corruption: 3:43 h - same thing as already stated in Echoes

Metroid Other M:  4:03:35 h

So, my TMT would be (including ALL the games) 49:31 h
Edit history:
KingBroly: 2010-09-20 09:43:21 am
I'll see what I can remember:

Metroid:  1:00 - Nothing too special here, just a standard run.
Metroid 2:  20:00
Super:  0:50 - 32% or something like that
Fusion:  2:25
Prime:  8:XX
Hunters:  20:00
Echoes:  9:XX
Corruption:  6:XX - I don't remember the last 3 specifically
Zero Mission:  1:50
Other M:  4:10:00 - 3%

Grand Total:  72 hours, 15 minutes
OK, so now that I've had the chance to rebuild the database I have for all of my speed runs, I can determine an accurate TMT as of Other M's release:

Metroid:        00:52
ZM:              00:33
Prime:          01:49
Hunters:      02:37
Echoes:        03:12
Corruption:  02:59
ROS:            01:41
Super:          00:44
Other M:      04:17 (Best time through Phantoon and the escape sequence)
Fusion:        01:04

TMT:            19:48

Seeing as there's 10 games now, the fact that I have a total time under 20 hours sounds pretty good to me.
Out of Phazon seeds.
All are 100%. All are single segment except Prime and Other M.

Metroid: 0:57
Zero Mission: 1:37
Prime (PC): 2:08
Hunters: 3:02
Echoes: 3:53
Corruption: 4:47
RoS: 2:12
Super: 1:01
Other M: 5:05 (2nd ending)
Fusion 1:44

TMT: 26:26
Ok, I have a confession to make.  Some of the times I posted in my earlier post were bogus.  Sorry for doing that but I did that way back when I was too naive to think of the repercussions.  These are my real times for every game:

ZM: 3:18
Metroid: 1:03
Prime: 2:17
Hunters: Haven't played
Echoes: 5:13
Corruption: Haven't played
ROS: Haven't played
Super Metroid: Haven't played (yet)
Other M: Haven't played
Fusion: 5:43 (working on getting this lower).

Sorry for the lying.
metroid: 1:00 to 1:30 (i was using the narpassword)
Zero Mission: 3:23 (all items)
super: 3:14
other M: 7:00 (all items, second ending)
prime: 8:42 (trilogy)
echos: going for time in my next run
corruption: 11:42 (all items)
metroid 2: haven't played
metroid fusion: haven't played yet
metroid hunters: probably never going to play
Game Lover
M1: Never finished
MZM: Forgot (But I got 100%)
M2: 8 hours, don't remember %
Super: 2:03; 52%
Other M: Never played, never will
Prime (Trilogy): 10 hours (all items)
Echoes (Trilogy): 12 hours (all items)
Corruption (Trilogy): 9 hours (all items)
Metroid Fusion: 2 hours and around 15 minutes
Metroid Hunters: 6 hours (all items)

Note: I have played the GC versions of Prime 1 and 2 (Prime 1 was my first GC game), but it's been so many years that I forgot the times. I think Prime 1's best is 12 hours on the GC.
M1: 7 hours
MZM: 1 hour
M2: never finished
Super: 1:26
MP1: 2:05 (100%)
MP2: 1:32
MP3: 2:38

I feel like Dampe, digging up graves like a boss. Here, have another heart piece!

Metroid - :35
ZM - :29
Prime - 5:14 (100%)
Hunters - 20:00
Echoes - 1:53 (had to dig through TSG forums of all places to get this)
Corruption - 15:00
RoS - 1:58 (pretty sure I got sub 1:30 once but I forget the exact time and intend to improve)
SM - 2:55 (100%, emu, no savestates)
Fusion - :49

Uhhhhh about Other M. There's no final time. Should I just count the final save?

EDIT: Given the verbosity of the first post and the massiveness of the thread, I'm considering remaking the thread from scratch. Could use input on Other M tracking.
do it. Also make a category for 100% :D

I think for Other M I just recorded whatever times were on the main menu after completing the two endings (normal end and Phantoon/escape sequence) regardless of what my final times actually were. It's better than nothing and probably the closest we're going to get unless everyone records their runs or we determine how much the cutscenes take up and subtract that from everyone's final time. We have the same problem with the original Metroid, which for me I just use a stopwatch and pause it whenever I die/reset but leave elevators and item pickups in.

Neither are perfectly accurate, but since I doubt most people record every single run they make I think it's the best we can ask for with an unofficial leaderboard. Although that brings up the question of which time to use for Other M since hard mode doesn't include the escape sequence ending for whatever reason.

Yeah, especially if you take into consideration the ending and credits before the post-game ending. It had been suggested shortly after the release that you could possibly just take the last save time and manually add the ending time. I think the most fair means is to use the final save time of one of them, since the final boss time can varyingly change the minutes. Since this board primarily takes in-game times, I think the final post-game save (right after the gauntlet) is best, personally.

I'm tempted to not even bother accepting Hard mode times, not to penalize the players, but to penalize the game for making this so difficult. >:^/

Varyingly? Englishy enough.

If I remember, the save is a room or two before Phantoon, right? Yeah, that sounds like the best option and I believe it's what is on the menu anyway once you defeat him and complete the game. (It's what I always wrote down when I recorded my times, at least) I don't remember though as I haven't played Other M since around the same time I made my earlier post on this page. But to me using the other one would be like saying your final time in ZM is at the start of the Chozodia segment. Doesn't work.

Fun fact: MSDS and Garrison hate the suitless segment so much that they only do ZM races up to the first escape. ;>_>

That's a pretty good practice tbh.
