also, we can see "living body arms development lab." on the terminal. that second girl seems to have typed in the password. could she be a "weapon developer"?
The thing is though, we don't know when Malkovich died. It could be before Metroid 1, it could be right before Fusion. So really, it can go anywhere between then.
well, it's probably not between prime 2 and 3 lol. after thinking about it, seems most likely it's her origin story, since she looks so young in the trailer. also makes sense for her to have started in the federation (other x), then became a freelance bounty hunter later (zm) but still retained friendly relations with the federation, even taking jobs from them (fusion).

I think it said 'Living Body Armor'.
EDIT: Nope, you're right. It's ARMS.
I hope there is a stealth segment with zero-suit like in ZM. I did see her in the suit but it looks like it was just a cut scene.
I'm also really starting to get worried about developing the character of Samus too much. Like most of us have already said, it's too early to jump to a lot of conclusions, but the silent mysterious persona of Samus is so fundamental to the series - I think that developing her character too much and using a voice has much shit potential. I really think that the developers know this so I'm really hoping they are very careful about it. I'd like to think that it can't be too horrible under the watchful eye of Miyamoto but who knows. Maybe I've just become a little closed-minded about the series since it's been over 20 years now.
ok i got it... she was trying to inject some sort of virus inside samus' suit! xD seriously, the game sequences we saw should be there in the final game. don't know why, but it should. the cinematics are perhaps the same kind of things as in E3 2001 for MP. but i hope the developers will put many of these in the game (double layer DVD as in brawl?). samus looks very different with her short hair. her design reminds me of FF cinematics.
In a way I'm kind of conflicted on that, actually. I'd love to learn about Samus and have her be fleshed out more, but at the same time I do wonder what that would mean for the series and her character in the end.
It must take place sometime after Super, as the final scene with Mother Brain and the Metroid Hatchling is there, but there's also some scenes with Adam, who, according to the e-Manga, died prior to Zero Mission, and the e-Manga's story was created by Yoshio Sakamoto, and it seems like Sakamoto is supervising this game according to Nintendo's press site, so, um, my head hurts.
And I'm not seeing any Sylux. You people are crazy.
Team Ninja worked on the new Ninja Gaiden games. How many of you liked those? The reason why I ask is that the game play seems to me to borrow some aspects from those games.
like, there is a 100% chance they will change it before release?
Approximately.
But no. I'm in charge of this game and I say this is the title, and there are no metroids. And there are Data rooms in every sector that you have to visit a minimum of three times throughout the game.
am i the only one who is confused by all the hate floating around for this new metroid? it seems waaaay too early to pass judgement on a game that still has, for all we know, a year and a half worth of development time (i.e. if the game was released holiday season '10).
personally, i'm excited to see where this new direction takes us. i like how it's not going to be completely 2D (very rarely do franchises who've gone through the 2D to 3D transition make a glorious comeback on 2D for a next gen console - i'm excluding portable games) but i also like how it's not going to be another prime. that mixture of 2D and 3D feels like an injection of new lifeblood for the series.
the only gripe i have with the trailer is the new design of samus' varia suit. it just seems...off. but, as for that, i am not "calling it" yet - it's waaay too early.
(plus, i would really like to see more fans to the series if this is pulled off well)
