Metroid: Origins.      basically a game which tells the story of samus' childhood, being raised & trained by the chozo, and how the metroids were created (or were discovered, its still not clear).  I picture it to be a third person 3D game, like TP or OoT.  The storytelling and plot-hole filling potential is huge, some very creative people could make so many things clear: how the chozo technologies were invented and how they really work,  what exactly was the original ridley/kraid and where did they come from, how the chozo came to settle on so many planets, where exactly Earth fits into the metroid universe, what the hell are space pirates anyways, etc etc.  Could be the best game ever made.  *sigh*  I daydream about it.

Ready to internet!
Oh man, that video looks awesome.

i didn't think so. to me it just seems they were like "fuck yeah let's have samus jump on top of a bunch of shit and blast its head off and then throw shit with her grapple beam while the camera is shaking fuck yeah". guess we'll have to wait and see.

i think that's what most people would define as "awesome". i mean we've already been bored out of our minds with echoze and corruption, so why not try a new take?

I think we should reserve final judgment for when we have something more than just a single trailer.  Trailers are always played up to excite the viewers so naturally there were lots of explosions and beatings, shooting, more explosions etc.
Is that MOTHER BRAIN @ 1:22?  Oh crap that's the scene from Super Metroid where Mother Brain kills the metroid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The voice-acting and story/character development are indeed risky, they have to be done right and usually fail.  BUT I definitely see the older traditional metroid ideas like ridley and mother brain being presented in an almost re-make style which is major plus.  Moving away from that traditional stuff is what made MP2 & MP3 suffer in popularity IMHO.

Wow It looks nice , I was hoping for a SM remake I did see Mother brain at exactly 1:20 and before that side scrolling.
Amazing. I hope it is good. PS the trailer wasent the best.
Yes it shows the final battle from Super Metroid in there when Mother Brain kills the Metroid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I think it will take place after Super Metroid.

There hadn't been an Adam OR a Houston/Sylux in Super. Perhaps it's after Corruption and before RoS?

What does "M" stand for, and why is it an "other"?  "Metroid" would be the first to come up, but I'm thinking "Mother".  Samus's biological mother in contrast with the Mother Brain, and its betrayal of the Chozo and of her.

However, still a bleh name, especially in its visual balance.

I think it stands for Adam's last name.

And I thought this would be about the pronunciation of Samus's last name as portrayed in the video. XD

That slo-mo energy shot made me think of the Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 trailer where Ryu slo-mo shoots a fireball from some bazooka-y thing.  My, I can only wonder why I get this...strange...deja vu.
Well, it's a bit bland, but maybe it's some really clever pun once you play the game.
Then again I guess it's just a placeholder name.

I also suspect that it stands for Malkovich.

I don't get the comment about Samus' last name  pronunciation ?

I meant I really wanted a Super Metroid Remake before I saw this. And after Corruption I thought the Metroid series might die. Im very glad it did not

Samus Arian.

Add this to the Link-vs-Ganondorf = Arian-vs-Jew comparison I ran across years ago, aaand...

EDIT: OH!  "Other M" kinda slurs as "Aran", right?
It's a dumb name, but who fucking cares? As though "Super Metroid" was a stroke of brilliance?

Mocktroids? :^/

It's probably McTroid.
I would die laughing if that was the real name of a food place in the Metroid universe.

i thought i saw Sylux in the video, but it turned out to be a space pirate

It might be permanent and they're not gonna have any metroids this time around. I'm probably not gonna complain too much about it, though, if it is after Super.
WHAT!? NO METROIDS!?
He said "might". >_>
I think this has a lot of promise. Lets face it, the series really needed some fresh juice. Corruption ended the Prime trilogy with more of a wheeze than a bang. This game looks like it will do the opposite.

More action, story, and characters isn't ALWAYS a bad thing. Personally I think the trailer shows a lot of promise. Also, as some have pointed out, there's still plenty of development time left.
