It's been a while, but I know it's possible to get past that part and I believe that is exactly where you need to go next. You basically need to swing from the grapple point and let go when your arc is at its lowest so that your momentum carries you horizontally under the square stalactite and then immediately shoot your grapple beam upwards to grab onto the next set of grapple points. Use save states !
