I had actually forgotten where the plasma beam was, had to look it up. Just the simple quick charge is all you need to do. But it could be accomplished by short charging there as well.
Are there are any more current hacks? This one seems to be one of the last to come out during the last season of SM rom hacking. Been pretty quiet for a while now.
Over at MetroidConstruction there are a lot of hacks still in development. As for new/recent hacks there's Temporus by Grime, Phazon Hack by Red Monkey, and Ice Metal by Crys/GreenKirby (though this last one isn't quite finished yet, but it's almost there).
Yeah, watching the forums on Metroid Construction sounds like a safe bet as far as knowing which hacks are on the horizon, since from what I understand most of the community has shipped over there by now and few of them still linger here. I've personally got a hack going right now, but it's so early in development it's not funny and it's barely worth mentioning at this point in time. (Less than 1/2 the initial area built and the whole map planned, but that's basically it so far.)
Oh yeah, the Phazon one. I started playing that and was enjoying it a lot, but then ran into this one room part way in that was a complete mess in SMILE where 3/4+ of the room had been destroyed. Unfortunately it's in a room along the main path (as far as I could tell anyway) so I ended up getting rid of it because of that issue.
Finally got the plasma after two days and changing emulators. Apparently Snes9x 1.42 and Down no longer get along so I cant charge a shine. Took a lot of practice but I finally got the SSC down to where I can do it about <20% of the time, but once was enough to get the Plasma. Now I am stuck at Phantoon, not sure if I missed Gravity or not. How can you beat Phantoon short of making sure you get hit at least once by direct contact (reminds me of StarTropics with the Voodoo Dolls and Bowling Balls). And, unless I am really missing an area, I have not seen Draygon, unless you took him out.
Regarding the snes9x thing, you have to remember to fill in all of the controls in your setup, including the diagonal. I too struggled charging sparks until I realised that you had to assign the diagonal. After that it was fine.
Well, if you were wondering how to get it without a short charge:
In the room above you there is a long corridor just after the water room. Charge there and fall through the adjacent room and spark through the door
.
If there is any trick to phantoon it is knowing when you need to stop attacking and go for energy drops. Depending on your items you might want to go find the rest of the energy tanks.
Can anyone explain why the game crashes in the room with the space pirates between beating Phantoon and right before you reach the Jefferietube? As soon as you enter the room the music stops and it doesn't matter if you fight the pirates or not as soon as you try to exit the game freezes. I have a PAL snes with a par cart. Is there a specific code to use to stop the game from crashing?? Thanks..
