Ok a bit out of topic here, but I'm trying to update my Wii today and some note pops up that says that this update could make my Wii inoperable... what do I do, update it or not?

I bought it in Mexico. don't know if it's PAL or NTSC, but no, I didn't do anything to it besides taking out of the box, I'll try later again, but it's weird it's the first time it happends, My Wii is like 4 months old or more.

Edit: it didn't do anything, as a matter of fact there weren't any updates.

So whats up with the new videos for the MP3 preview channel?
They should be up by now, and I've checked both the shop channel and the preview channel...?

Does it give you an error message number or anything? If so I'd try nintendowifi.com for help.

I'm thinking the update is for a different region or format, and it wouldn't be compatible with your Wii. That's just my best guess though; never heard of something like that happening.

I just got that same message as well, and my Wii is straight from Nintendo of America... :-s

And no, I don't have any new videos up yet either.

afaik, the last update just added that disclaimer. if you had modded your wii, part of the update would mess with that, and apparantly messed up some wii's altogether.

If that's all there is to it, I shouldn't be worried then.

And still no new vids: Apparently I was wrong though. It looks like these two new ones are centered around AURORA and SPIDERBALL, not Bosses like I thought I read the last time I was on the update page..

i don't know but i don't want to watch the vids. i want to keep everything for when i get the game and play it. i can't even tell what's up in the vids at times.

The videos are up!

The Spiderball video is essentially a long morphball puzzle, showing in the process that the BOOST BALL is returning. grin new

However... I'm more interested by the AURORA video:

The Auroras are organic supercomputers (Resembling... giant brains...) that the Federation discovered about 20 years ago and use thousands of them across their bases. They can have male, female, or neutral personalities depending on the needs of the base and its personnel. However, the most interesting part of this...

At the end of the video, as the narrator is describing the units in general, you can clearly see a setup that is strikingly similar to another organic, brain-like supercomputer's room... complete with Zebetites and a tank holding the brain at the end...

Referring back to the Aurora Unit video:

According to what I'm reading, apparently the scene at the end involving the Tourain design says something along the lines of: CROSS SECTION OF FUTURE AURORA UNIT COMPLEX, not something that exists within the Federation at the time.

Yes, but I mean, the Pirates might have stolen an Aurora, one that had a devastating mobile form, and used it on their second base on Zebes. This could have been why the Mother Brain is like this in Super, it's not the same one as in Metroid 1.

Looks like we will be getting updates every 3 days (10th, 13th, 16th so far), with the 9th and 10th videos landing on the 22rd. Hmm, there might be one more batch to get to the 25th and finally release 3 days later. (Plus it looks like 12 videos fit snuggly there.) We've gotten videos 1&3 and 5&8 with 2&7 up next.

Quite an excellent update. The official fact sheet deserves a re-read.

Anyone else notice how that Aurora video ("media content") is extracted from the phazon in her eye? I wonder if that means anything important... I suppose that's not much of a spoiler.

Hmm... this is an interesting bit of info that somebody brought up on Gamespot:

Phazon Analysis
Log 10.344.8

We have codified the newfound energy source as Phazon, a V-index mutagen of which we have very little reliable data. Indications point to a meteor of unknown origin impacting approximately 20 years ago, expelling Phazon into the environment. This material appears to possess lifelike characteristics, mutating organic life-forms strong enough to withstand its poison. These mutations appear promising, with abrupt evolutionary leaps appearing in single-generation reproduction. Plans to establish a full Science Team on Tallon IV are being finalized.

So Tallon IV was hit with Phazon around the same time that the Auroras were first created by the Federation... interesting... I wonder if there is some sort of connection between these two bits of information. Or, it could just be a very big coincidence.

*sigh* Somehow I knew this was going to happen. Wish they'd quit trying to link the games and just give us something fun to play.

Suppose it's neat that Mother Brain's in this one, though, but the fact that there are other beings just like her cheapens her greatness imo.

I'm really happy that the Screw Attack has been confirmed to reappear (it's the only thing that pushed me to finish Echoze, how I love it so), and at least the Morph Ball looks like it's used a lot.
