"fleshed out" (that expression never made much sense to me)

How about "bare-bones"?  Or "skeleton crew"? Or "just skin and bones"?

If I were more awake I'd search through Saber's old sketches to see if there were examples of his starting with a rough framework and adding flesh to it.  I'm just completely puzzled why that expression wouldn't make much sense to you.
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes isn't has good as Prime 1, granted, but it wasn't a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. I have faith that, at the very least, Retro will provide a great game.

Knew I should've phrased that more carefully. I know what the expression means, I just don't get how that relates to flesh.
i think the idea is that flesh > bones, so if you "flesh out" a "bare bones" explanation, then you elaborate on it.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
when i said "everyone gives it the cold shoulder" i was talking about the general public mostly. in most places, the franchise is either ignored, downplayed or disregarded.

also, some time ago, people were ranting about how mp3 would suck if it was linear so that got me thinking that part of this board was against it from the get-go.

i still have faith. anyone remembers when, before mp1 came out, everyone thought it would suck hard?
red chamber dream
I remember that, but I never thought that. Ever since it was announced I was expecting Prime to be incredible. Unlike Echoze, I do have high hopes for MP3, and I think Retro'll pull through this time.

The reason I don't have high hopes for the game is because they are doing the same thing they did with Hunters: Ditch most of the Metroid-like qualities to make a generic FPS for the mainstream audience, not for the Metroid fans.
Pi-Face
I'm expecting a generic FPS, but I'm desperately hoping they can combine the exploration of Prime with the combat of Hunters. If they pull it off right, Corruption might just turn out to be awesome.
I don't mind dialogue. Just look at Fusion: it made it much more interesting. Yeah, no SB's, but besides that, Fusion rocked!
red chamber dream
True, but Fusion is not really a Metroid game. Just like Hunters and (probably) Corruption.
Pi-Face
I hate it when people say Fusion's 'not really a Metroid game' because there's less exploration. That's like saying SotN's not a real Castlevania game because it's not stage based - yeah, it was different, but it worked strikingly well.
I don't mean to start an argument here though.

Actually, it's more like saying Curse of Darkness is not a Castlevania game because you can't whip candles.

Yes, it is. But everyone has their own idea of "What a metroid game is." Here's mine.
Lets see... Fusion has:
-Samus
-Metroids (This is where Hunters fails the test :) )
-Most of the core gameplay functions of past metroid games, i.e. all the same powerups, same style of gameplay (outside of the linearity), same lots-of-hidden-stuff, problems to solve, and enemies to kill
-A number in the series (Indicating Nintendo treats it as part of the non-prime metroid series of games)
So how is it not a "metroid game"?
(Is Super Mario 64 not a "mario game"?, is Zelda: The Wind Waker not a "zelda game" ?  Why does this even matter(lol)?)
If the controls with the wiimote are as good as they are for RE4 then I'll be happy.  But most likely they will be better  grin new
Fusion WAS a Metroid game, and a very good one. It had great atmosphere and pretty much every element of gameplay Super had besides exploration, which the game still had to an extent.

You're taking what I said too literally. Yes, I understand it's a Metroid game in the sense that it's in the series; it's not like I wouldn't list it if someone asks me to name all the Metroid games. I just meant it's so different from the others that it doesn't feel like I'm playing Metroid at all. It might as well be any other side-scrolling shooter due to the huge inclusion of story, lack of Sequence Breaking, very tightly linear path, and lack of exploration. To me those are what makes Metroid Metroid, not the weapons or atmosphere (though atmosphere is definitely important). It's the same deal with Hunters, but for slightly different reasons. Now don't get me wrong: I absolutely love both games; they're just not Metroid to me.
Also, this is just my opinion, so don't tell me I'm wrong. Should put that old quote back in my sig. >_>

The only difference in TWW from the rest of the 3D Zeldas is the graphics. How does that relate to Fusion v. the other Metroid games?
Ug. I actually hate the Wind Waker... it takes exploration a bit too far with the endless sea travel with little interesting along the way, besides an occasional run in with a diant octopus/squid.

Notto mention that it looks like a little kids game.  :x
Pi-Face
Besides the sea travel, I liked The Wind Waker. I didn't mind the graphics, either. And, when I'm traveling... well, that's what picture-in-picture is for!

Oh, come on, it doesn't even take that long. And it's very pretty; the ocean's visuals never grow old to me.
Plus once you get the Ballad Of Gales you travel much faster, WW was an awesome game.
Yeah, I agree
The new graphics-style really fits and simply amazed me.
For some reason I always loved those sailing sequences.
The only thing Nintendo messed up was the number of dungeons.
Good for y'all. It's one of my least favorites.  :P

Yeah they were too least and too easy, but the atmosphere was nice, although the order of the dungeons changed, it's supposed to be forest-fire-water, and here it's fire-forest-water...

I still think it was a great game.
Wow, things have gotten off topic here.

Are the new videos out yet for those people on the east coast? I hope it's out here sometime later tonight, or at least by tomorrow morning. I'm expecting some exciting new gameplay footage.

It's probably around the same time they update the wii shop channel, which is 11am EST on mondays
That would be my guess.

Based on what I could read on the preview channel, the next two videos look to be focusing on the BOSSES and then the SPIDERBALL.
