Wow, I was in awe. The tricks used to keep running were entertaining, but you always make the boss battles fun. One thing seems to worry me : I wonder if you could have destroyed the last "X-atmospheric-stabiliser" in fewer charge shots, but since you take no damage, I found it really good. Keep up the good work!
I think he didn't want to get hit, and wanted to provide something interesting. Just my opinion, but now can I ask what will happen to the record, I mean the final time?
Had a problem with the VBM version though (using VBA 1.7.2 RRv14), curious if anyone else got this-- during the last stabilizer, the 3rd shot misses and it's screwy from there on, as seen here. Not sure why this happened, everything up to that point was perfect.
Some of these happen all the time, most of them by sound desync. I cannot help you, though, try using another version. Hey but, Dragonfangs, are you going to make a 0% no-damage run? O_o Just hypotheosis, but you haven't took any damage from the start.
No damage is something I was shooting for, yes. I see no reason to get damaged (well, it could save a small amount of time in various places, such as this ventilation thingie) so unless I do find something that saves a lot of time I'll go for no damage. It's gonna have to save A LOT of time (or simply be cool as hell >_>) for me to take damage in order to do it though.
cool. i've been wanting to see a run like this. while it won't be among the real records, it can show how cool the game can look :p also, doing very crazy stunts is what i like the most about tas runs (but pulling them off in a real console is even more amazing, unless the stuff is humanly impossible)
i think it's safe to say that 99% of the stunts in this run are humanly impossible. it's not about skill - it's about physical characteristics of the dpad that prevent you from zs wall jumping 4390902 times in a row like he does at the eye core x, etc.
you've got compitition his is imo actualy a bit better, but then he is from bisqwit here's a quick link to his video http://www.kraftfam.org/~david/fusion0percent.zip (also alot further, as in to ship before yakuza) the bad thing being he takes damage
I saw it, and there is no real difference about these two runs, considering Dragonfangs is not going to take damage, explaining why he loses time in sector 1. The only big difference (apparently 15 seconds) is Arachnus, but since the 0% no-damage speedrun provides more entertainement by killing it in 3 round instead of 1, I don't say that is bad. Plus doing the first seg again is not what I want, since it would delay the 3rd seg... Dragonfangs, check that vid if you want, but if you speedrun it by discovering the tricks by yourself, I would congratulate you. But, now, what will happen to the final time?
Does it matter? As his first post said, speed is a side-effect...not a goal. It isn't and shouldn't be a competition, especially since the final time won't be a valid record. When you get to something like this individual choices of style probably distinguish the runs enough that it just doesn't matter. For this I'd rather see fun than fast.
As I've said, this is mainly focused on entertainment, I for one find my Arachnus fight more entertaining than his, even though he's faster. I considered using a bit of luck manipulation on Arachnus, but decided to go with entertainment value instead. I did notice him before I started the run and I never even imagined I would be faster, he has a lot more experience in this field (I think, to be honest, I haven't checked), we're not on the same level. I checked the vid to where I am myself and all I have to say is meh. Not that I find his run bad or anything, I just can't make myself care enough. And for the record, 13M13 already mentioned it.
Quote from 13M13:
Just thought I'd mention that someone is working on a 0% run (sorta) over at Bisqwit's site. They are, however, working incredibly slow.
And if anyone from bisqwit reads this, don't consider me competition, unless it makes you work harder or something.
And btw guys, I decided to not do the SS version, they were getting too out of sync, sorry. I might pick it up again later though, who knows.
Chanoire : I didn't know it wasn't a goal, although I believed it was true : I like that TAS because it's fun, not speed, I don't care about Arachnus. Sorry anyway I didn't find it was mentionned on the first post. Dragonfangs : It's all ok you don't do SS version, you don't have to. And it's good you can UL several parts : I don't think I would have uploaded a SS.
