So yeah, I got bored one day and said to myself: "Hey, let's abuse frame advance and save states to make Fusion kinda interesting again". And so I did.

I was a bit semi-unsure wether to post it here or not, seeing as how the issue of Borg runs was a relatively hot topic not so long ago. But after asking the people in IRC and getting a positive response, I decided that it might yield more positive reactions than negative.

Note that this run is a lot more focused on being awesome than being fast. If I'm forced to decide between different methods of going through a room, I will almost always go with the cooler version. And as we all know, speed is a side-effect of being awesome.

As for the first segment, I messed up slightly at the start, for some reason I thought you couldn't speed up the "Is your objective clear?" part of Adam's intro speech. Fixing it would now require me to remake the whole segment, and since it doesn't actually the affect final time, I'm gonna let it stay.

I will do it single-segment, but I can remake every segment to make another, segmented, run which basically will be an exact replica of the SS one, just with saves (might be very minor differences in order to make luck work like I want it to). If I make segments, I might release them at different intervals, à la Sess and Ekard. If I do this or not is all up to you, if enough people want it segmented, I will make it segmented.

All I ask of you is to watch, be impressed, and share your opinions.

Thread title:
If you are a fast worker, do the intervalled release. If not, do it at once to keep your fans from complaining if you don't meet a deadline. :P

Oh, and I LOVE this idea. I loved the sess and ekard runs. I'm downloading the first part now.
I knew that someone was going to make the 0% run.
After it was discovered, everyone waas like "omg that's awesome".
But that was it. Now that there's a run, hoo baby. This'll go to my favourites.
awesome. so refreshing to see this done in a consistently ridiculous manner, the only way tas should ever be done imho. best part was the arachnus fight.

at first i was hesitant to let you continue serving this thing from my server, but having seen the first release, i think that it's a project that i could stand supporting. one problem is that there is no clear warning before the video begins as to exactly what it is, i.e. to clarify that you are not playing the game the way people think of people playing games normally. in order to correct this, a disclaimer will be appended to the beginning of each video. if you like, you can design it yourself, and then i will handle the appending for you. don't forget to include the url to here (http://dfangs.metroid2002.com/).
Yeah, I thought about the disclaimer thing, but video editing really isn't my forte. If someone could do it for me, it would be gladly appreciated, I'm just as reluctant to let people think a TAS is real as you are.
so you'd like me to design the splash screen then? i can take a .png from you and use that if you want.
Go ahead and design it man, if you're up to it. And thanks.

I edited my post to include a link to the vbm file, which should be a lot easier to download.
yeah, i'll make the h/m/l from the vbm including the splash screen as soon as i get the chance.

Watch out for cancer.
That was sweet, I can't wait to see more. And as far as single segment or segmented go, I just want to see the whole thing asap so I guess single segment. Seeing part of it and not being able to watch more kills me but this was a nice intro to what your going to be showing off.
Haha, that was great.  Loved the jumping through the door into instant walljump immediately after the transition.  Look forward to the rest.

There does seem to be an odd shudder in the sound of the spinjump at 05:04, which I wondered about.

OMG HE FAKED THE RUN!!!
l'appel du vide
Just thought I'd mention that someone is working on a 0% run (sorta) over at Bisqwit's site.  They are, however, working incredibly slow.

So go, baby, go!
I was just reading the M2k2 motto...
"GO GO GO"!
Edit : I just checked about what Chanoire said, and the sound is normal : You will even see Samus stopping her spinjump for a frame then spinjumping again. That method consists in stopping the spinjump by pressing up on the pad, or by shooting. The second way is more used and more understandable. When you do that you can extend your jump, it's used for the early arc energy tank, but I can't find the adress. Anyway he did it not to be stopped by a platform, 'cuz he wanted to land on the lower platform.
And I saw Mr.Aran's future post (heh heh heh I can see everything...), and I need to say : he kept on him 2 missiles to do that. That's why he didn't spend one more missile on Arachnus.
everybody knows it's true
You probably could've shot one more missile at arachnus, since you got tons from the X's, anyway.

Seeshoumaru left this place. He was known for finding awesome stuff from Metroid Games. Since he left and someone's been asking "Where's Sess", everyone says "Died of Cancer" as a joke.

So since Draggyfaggy is trying to do something awesome once again, we'll have to hope that he doesn't die for cancer, if you see my point.
Cancer is what happened to Sass/Ekard who both have unfinished runs on the main pages of M2K2.

I was pondering this while lying awake last night, maybe this will finish/replace Sess'?  I know it would be wrong to remove Sess' run, so maybe we could keep it in a locker fo anyone who wants it, and just leave this run up on the main page?

Just an idea.  Please nobody kill me for that suggestion...  *Nervous look*

EDIT:  R_S simul-posted me...
oh yeah, haha
thanks sam and noble for that info

ketchup helps against cancer ;)!
sess's run was not borged in the traditional sense. he actually performed all of the actions you see without slowdown, save states, etc, but of course, being on an emulator, it wasn't eligible for any kind of speed record (not that it was ever going for one).
Qlex beat me to answering Chan's and Aran's questions, but yeah, the strange sound thing Chanoire mentioned comes from me doing a minor Jump Extend so I barely miss the ledge, I press up instead of shooting as it looks cleaner IMO.
I have no idea if saving 2 missiles for the core-X actually saves any time, but it's neat.

I have no intention of replacing sess, he played naturally, I don't.

And part 2 is coming along nicely, from my calculations I should be able to release a segment each week, unless there's some IRL crisis or it's a really annoying segment. So excpect updates Sundays.
I know Sess' run wasn't borged; everyone answered that for me in another thread.  But it's been my impression that as well as a how-to for a one-percent run, Sess' run was also a "Everything Fusion is capable of." type of run.  That's why I thought it might replace it.  As long as we correctly blatantly label it and let any viewer of the site know that it was a cyborg run...

Perhaps if we got someone to finish Sess' run, we could have a non-borged run and this all-out borged run on the main page, as it is awesome to watch.  But then again, it's up to you, Nate.
will consider it. nothing is replacing sess's run, though.
Of course not.  Even if this got main page mention, i wouldn't want the removal of Sess' run.  Never get rid of something as great as that.  Just wish there was someone who could finish it, but after Ekard got cancer and W_D vanished... :?

Who else is  Shocked at Fusion...?
Very nice first segment. Doing them in multiple segments would be cool in my opinion. Best of luck on doing the run, and more-so, have fun doing it.

P.S. The Arachnus fight was awesome =)
