Ah, yeah, that's certainly a good reason. Think I, though, might actually sell my GameCube ... though, I probably wouldn't get much at all for it and might as well just keep it.
Mind as well get something out of a future nothing.
My Gamecube's already been rendered unplayable from the same thing that's messing up Yoshi's and Tahngarthor's--which happens to be a laser miscalibration in the early models (the ones with digital video output) that cause them to start getting read errors after around four years--so I'll be getting a Wii ASAP.
I had that problem, but my brother fixed it (losing a screw in the process >.> ). Now the switch that tells whether or not the lid is closed is broken. I can still play it, but a half of the case is off (not pretty) so I can manually flip the switch. I doubt it's worth the effort to fix it.
In other words, I'll probably get a Wii this year for Christmas.
The only way I'd be able to get a Wii is if I get it as a christmas gift from my parents. But if I get a Wii, I would definately try to get this game asap.
Yeah. I hope they make a bundle pack out of Wii and Prime 3, though I think they'd have to see how it sells before making a bundle pack.
If they bundle anything with the Wii, I would expect something like Twilight Princess would have a better shot than Metroid. (Wii Sports seems like it could be another possiblity though.)
There is absolutely no way they will bundle TP or MP3 with the wii. Many people are getting the wii just for party games and tp and mp3 really don't seem like that. Plus, I would expect something much smaller to bundle with it, like Wii Sports.
I prefer a Brawl bundle pack with the Wii, as I'm getting a Wii for christmas, and nothing else. It'll be worth it though. At least the Wii'll be compatable with GCN games. At least until I get internet on the wii, so I'll get NES and SNES games on the wii. games I don't already own that is. Like SM.
Damn. I was hoping to have brawl by the end of this year. That sucks bad. Ahwell. I'll have the money saved up by then at least. Maybe I'll just get TP for Wii instead.
yes, I am most likely going to get it at launch. It will be the only game I get at launch other that Twilight Princess for Gamecube. but it will be worth it I know since I am a pretty big fan of the Prime series
ps. this is my first post. I thought I'd join these boards with MP3 launch nearing to keep me updated with info.
I definitely think the Wii will be released with the option of being bundled with Wii sports: that just makes sense, as buying Wii Sports alone for fifty bucks just seems like sort of a rip-off to me. I hope it starts at like, forty or something. Same with Wii Music (or whatever that's called).
A little bit off topic post but dig this. In Sweden (Stockholm), the store "Game" offers everyone who owns a Gamecube to sell it to them along with 3 games (only catch is that the games must not be that old) and you will get approximately 140 u.s dollar in price reduction once you buy the Wii Think I will sell my Sonic + Megaman collection (no need to have the Megaman collection since you can download old NES games to the Wii) and either Super Mario Sunshine or Batman Begins.
I'm willing to bet they'll package Wii Sports with the actual console... You know, like how the SNES came with Super Mario World. At least, I'm sure the game would function better as a sort of entry-point for the masses to get into--and accustomed to--the online network, than it would ever fare as a separately-sold title. Additionally, the number of different sports will more likely than not mean that each sport is more like a mini-game than anything that's rich in features; the quality stuff, which most people would prefer playing instead of a Wii Sports counterpart, can be bought separately.
Providing Wii Sports with the console would also mean that you'd have lots and lots of people playing online right off the bat, enabling you to get the service's inevitable rough start over with and running smoothely as soon as possible; that way, you don't end up with serious problems at the same time there's real big release, like Smash Bros. Brawl.

Fixing the laser is very very easy all you have to do is adjust a pot forth an inch.
The trouble isn't with fixing the actual problem; the trouble comes with getting there. The Gamecube (and Nintendo consoles in general) is held together with screws that require a special tool to work with. The tool isn't sold in stores, so you have to order it from somewhere online for $20, which of course entails additional shipping costs as well as waiting a week or two for the thing to arrive. Trying to MacGuyver your way in by molding a makeshift tool isn't adviseable either, as any mistake means you've got a screw that's not ever going to come out. The plastic parts of the casing are also fit together in such a way that it's easy to damage them, and then you have to take all the hardware apart, turn the knob, put the hardware back together, test your adjustments, and then repeat as necessary until the unit runs successfully for longer than half an hour. Then you get to do the whole thing all over again 3-6 months later, when the laser gets miscalibrated again.
The only permanent--and ultimately practical--solution is to send your Gamecube with $50 to Nintendo and let them fix the problem.
I don't see why it wouldn't be. Kinda pointless not too. I mean, how often are you gonna have 4 people at your house, all of which you know damned well that can kick your ass? Nah, I don't think so. I see it more WiFi than anything.
