I'm definitely getting a Wii ASAP though 'cause my Gamecube's starting to die. I've been getting occasional read errors (never more than a minute or so after I start the game, so I'm never losing actual progress).
It's a conspiracy! Ooooweeeooo!
Same thing happens to me too, though it almost seems heat related. After not using it for a while, I can play for 5-10 mins, then I get a disc read error, open/close disc cover and I can play a few min more, then like a min or two more, then like 30 seconds more, then it starts making clicking noisese then gives an error that doesnt let you try again.\
I went with the "if it doesnt cost too much" option because im kinda cash strapped for the near future. :)
Do you mean Super Metroid (AKA Metroid III) or Corruption?
The Virtual Console is going to be a great thing, because even if I only get 2-3 games at launch, there are quite a few older games that I never got the change to own. Hopefully, the ones I want will end up on the VC so I can get the chance now.
2-3 games is plenty once you consider Wiiconnect24.
That's the point I was trying to make: Unlike previous consoles, there will be plenty of things to get at launch, even if they aren't exactly "new" games.

Hehe, thats a good point. I plan on finally being able to play Super Metroid with the Virtual Console. That and Metroid II are the only Metroid games I haven't gotten yet.
Yep, Virtual Console is going to be just about the best thing ever. EVER. I don't mind paying whatever I need to to play games I don't have on an actual console, rather than an emu.
My Gamecube's already been rendered unplayable from the same thing that's messing up Yoshi's and Tahngarthor's--which happens to be a laser miscalibration in the early models (the ones with digital video output) that cause them to start getting read errors after around four years--so I'll be getting a Wii ASAP.
I'll be opting to wait for Metroid Prime III, though; it's most likely I'll only be able to afford one launch title right away, and I'm going to be making it Zelda: Twilight Princess. It's no real problem for me, really, since it's been months since I've gotten to play any of my Gamecube games; after getting my fill of Zelda, I'll be able to keep myself busy with Prime and Echoes, and then make for a complete Metroid Prime smorgasbord with Corruption at (probably) around Christmas.
Also, as for fixing the Gamecube's miscalibrated laser... Well, the only permanent and reliable way is to send it, along with $50, to Nintendo. Seeing as how the Wii's release is close, I figure it's a better idea to just wait and grab the new console, and then worry about the ol' Gamecube when my wallet is thicker.
well I have played all the other metroid games and I've enjoyed all of them exept for metroid ros and zero misson, and as a big fan you simple must get wii along with corruption
Why worry about the GameCube at all? I doubt I'll ever touch my 'Cube again once I get the Wii.
We've got two houses--the big one we actually live in, and a weekend place on Lake Wateree--so it'll be convenient to be able to just keep the Gamecube at the latter location.
Ah, yeah, that's certainly a good reason. Think I, though, might actually sell my GameCube ... though, I probably wouldn't get much at all for it and might as well just keep it.

So true. Its pretty obvious many of us avid Metroid fans will get it the same day it'll be released with the Wii.
I wasn't even talking about getting Metroid at all. Just meant that, since the Wii can play GCN games, there's no point in using the 'Cube anymore.
