Whereas I'm SO used to missile doors requiring 5 missiles to open that the first time I played Zero Mission I wasted 4 missiles by rapid-firing them into the first missile door I found.
Same thing for me, repeatedly.
other things: I was stuck on the "noob bridge" in super metroid for a good hour or so, even though i was playing on a console, and i changed the controls around, i somehow forgot there was a dash button till i restarted the game and looked at the controls.
In metroid fusion, i have a bad habit of dieing in TRO on my way to bombs. It happens at least twice a game. -i also have a habit of being absudly careless and dieing at the omega metroid at the end of fusion, buy literally running into it enough times while trying to kill it faster.
i just plain SUCK at the original metroid, ive been stuck in that game so many times its beyond funny to just SAD.
-You guys never realized you could go into the queens stomach and bomb her? i knew that since i was like 5.. metroid 2 is also the first metroid game i ever played (and likewise, finished)
-I NEVER have enough missiles to get through the 3 omega metroids, which ends up with me backtracking all the way to the last ruin just so i can fill all my missiles up at a missle charger... i do this probably 9/10 times ive played through the game.

i've done it all in one go, but I filled enough missles up to the point where I had exactly enough to kill six Omegas, and I used exactly that many to kill those three. Zetas are more dangerous, but Omegas are harder to kill.
I read somewhere awhile back that you could bomb the Queen Metroid, but I tried it and couldn't do it and thought they were BSing. I've also heard of a cheat where you go in the ship at the beginning and do something like roll back and forth about ten times and then spin jump or something and you have infinite health and missles. I think that was BS. Does anyone know differently?
When the queen extends her neck and opens her mouth... roll into it as a ball... while in her stomach, bomb away! She will eventually spit you out and you will have to do it again.
I see. I can get inside the mouth, but it drains energy like nobody's business. And are you supposed to lay the bombs in the mouth, or are you actually suposed to go inside the stomach?
150 sure ... if you only use missiles. But if you use a missile to stun her and then bomb her stomach, you can use a lot less ... I think only 5 :-)
Yeah, see, I didn't know that I could at the time. I do now, and have for a while. But don't you need the Spring Ball to jump in her mouth? I can't remember. (I did say I forgot to get it)
This isn't the metroid 2 board but since it's being discussed I'll mention that I've finished my speed run tonight with a time of 1:02:29 and it'll be online tomorrow for you to download!
But damn, you've only had it since December and you've already beat it that quickly?
Damn.
I'd played it before, about a decade ago :-) I actually might have played it sometimes between then and now but don't remember, so when I played it in december it was like playing it for the 2nd time... I had vague recollections of things but nothing was too clear.
About the queen missile/bombs thing: Check this vid where I enter the queen's room with only 7 missiles. Almost proves that 5 is possible. 8)
Well, I mean it isn't really all that difficult once you know how to do it. The only really challenging part at all is stunning the Queen after she goes into hyper mode, because the missile has to be planned. I can do it without dropping a tank on a good day.
trying to get back on topic, I really hated myself once when I was playing fusion. I had just beat yakuza and gotten the space jump, and couldn't figure out how to work the damn thing to get out. I had to turn the GBA off, and totally flush my succesful yakuza fight down the tubes. GAR!
My most recent kick myself was my last play of Prime.
Hard Mode. I'm outside the Pirates base in Phendrana Drifts
I got ALL the way through it (with the Ice Beam of course) got to Hunter Cave (I think) Dash Jumped across the room to the platform you usually need the grapple hook to get.
Shot the Stalactite down. Jumped in the water to get the missile....
Realised - I don't have the Gravity suit... HOW DO I GET OUT!!!
Ended up having to reset :'( I'm now back outside the Pirate base :'(
