I always like to press z for difficult dashes to make it more easy to adjust the controlstick. This is a pretty easy method of doing the dash:

First of all dash to the right and let go of the L buttun as soon as possible after the dash, this will give you more height rather than distance (you realy need the height). Press z (or start)

Bend you dash holding the control stick between down and down right. exit the map (or start menu). When you're at the peak of your first jump, jump again (still hold the stick in the down- down right possition).

You can chose wether to press z again or just press L + down when you think you're in front of the ledge. Better press z, gives you time to think and time your jump. Now hold the controlstick down and tap L as soon as you think you're in front of the ledge. Remeber to only tap the L button not hold it.

If you don't like to pause during a dash or are good enough to do it without then this method can still be used of course.

I hit a puffer but I don't think it helped.

I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Quote from Razorflame:
Heh.  That Observatory Dash Jump gave me too many problems, plus it ruined that 20% game I was doing.
Question 1: What is the best recorded time of a Hard Mode 200% speed run?
Question 2: I currently have a 200% speed run Hard mode game in the works.  I have 53% scan completion and 35% item completion in 1:25.  Is that good?

I don't think there is a best recorded time of a Hard Mode 200%; Radix doesn't seem interested in those.
I don't think anybody cares about 200% runs, because I haven't seen any on the archive.
I need help on getting the artifact in the control tower in phendrana drifts.

Go on one of the towers, break the window with the plasma beam, missile the big tower. And the the cutscene should show you how to do the rest.
Now i got all the Artifacts, killed ridley, went to impact crater but is it nessasary to have 14 e-tanks when you fight metroid prime cause i only got 13 and prime essence keeps killing me.
always move fast
its not neccesary to have any tanks.  just keep trying and youll get it eventually.

13 is perfectly fine! I can beat him just fine with 2 or 3.
Oh, I can beat him with 22% items, whenever I want. I just start one of my 22% files, /brag.

Sorry for that one.
in the name of justice!
yeah, it's mostly about not getting hit by the shockwave and not messing with his metroids (i power bombed them right when they came out).

incidentally, isn't beating prime without space jump and with no tanks going to be insane?  that's going to take some practically perfect timing i think...
Ok I need help on HBJing, how do you do an HBJ?
Crap, then ignore this, I suck, I don't care, I hate you all too. Kisses.
No it doesn't because it's not right.
Indeed! 8)
HBJs are teh bomb!1!!11!!
Even though I haven't tried it yet...
red chamber dream
Quote from graveworm:
Lookie at a video, copy the moves.

Lay a bomb to waste, and then lay another, lay the third one so that you'll land on when you get down from the first one, lay the fourth one after bomb two propels you right above bomb 2 & 3, when you've landed on bomb three lay bomb 5 & 6 or just 5 halfway up through bomb 4, and if you only laid bomb 5 there, lay bomb 6 when  bomb 4 propels you, above bomb 5.

Okay ... now describe an HBJ, please.
I can't do the Ghetto Jump, I really don't see anything special when I do it, I just seem to get the exact amount of height.  It doesn't make any sense, what the crap am I doing wrong?
You're not raping the incline.
Quote from Ekarderif:

Ekarderifs way of saying you have to push on what you're trying to ghetto off of.
I don't seem to get it either but i manage to pull it off anyways >_>'...
Yeah, I suck, now that I don't know, I wasn't sure before either, maybe someone can tell me how it's executed.
At first, I never could do Ghetto jumps either.  However, I found a trick that almost always works.

As you start your jump, push forward.  Before reaching the peak of your first jump, pull back a bit.  At the peak of your first jump, do your second jump and push forward again.  It works in most cases.
Beware: off duty ninja
I find that if I rock the stick from forward to back to forward before I finish the first jump in a ghetto jump (so when I'm ready to do the second jump, I have finished the command I just said and am pressing forward again) to help immensely in the execution of the ghetto jump.

afaik, it works rally well wehn trying to do the underwater ghettos for any% games, and definetley saves me some headaches
Keep in mind that you can only ghetto off of an incline (something sloped). You need to jump while moving on something sloped and/or slide up something sloped at the beginning of your jump. Therefore, ghettos can only be done in certain places. You can do them off very small bumps, but the smaller the object is you're ghettoing off of, the harder it is. For example, at the elevator behind Thardus, you can ghetto off the circular ring surrounding the elevator and land on one of the thin poles, but you need to time it well.

I don't know how much difference is between single jump (withouth SJ) and the first jump (with SJ). Having SJ, it seems to be easy to single jump over MP 2nd form waves (I killed him/it just that way thinking of it), and since I almost always step out of the pools when trying to trick him (or lost them right under Samus' feet), I prefer to stand in the center and jump rather than moving in & out.

BTW, HBJ are the ones used by sparky at Geo?
One shall stand, one shall ball.

You could probably just use the twig.
