all you need to do is collect enough energy while in Hypermode that it goes over the max amount you're supposed to have with your current amount of energy tanks. I'll make a video that will explain it better later today.
Quote from Paraxade:
yeah, you can use Hyper Ball on that door with the eyes

there's another way to do it? :\
You can also shoot the eyes then shoot the door when it opens, which is probably what most people did on their first playthrough. :P

EDIT: Energy Glitch video
Every Bit Counts
Yeah. You can also see the little thing move with x-ray. Wink
Bananas GOOD, Kremlings BAD
Excellent find.

Thinking:  Does the glitch make it easier for the hazard shield skip?
It might, but the problem is there really isn't that much energy around there; in my runs I always have around 160-180 energy when I start the fight.

Fano: no, you can't.

EDIT:

Phazon Hopper section of Drop Shaft: afaik they can't change where they're aiming before they shoot once they take aim so just keep moving and they can't hit you...

Bouncy monster: doing it successfully depends on what direction you're holding, the correct direction to skip it first bounce is somewhere between up and up-right; slightly to the right of up but not too far to the right or left or you'll end up too far in that direction. also wait for the phazon puffer to start sucking phazon before dropping down the shaft so you won't die if you don't manage to skip it. (in the next room collect drops from plants + metroids)

need to get a bit more consistent with it (mainly phazon hopper section of drop shaft) and i'll check out morph ball on the quad lasers.
Every Bit Counts
I kinda glad your going for a deathless run. Because now your going to make an even better run.
Two more tricks for Phaaze:

Drop Shaft: when the Phazon Hoppers drop down, if you roll right underneath one you'll kill it instantly. That means there will only be two hoppers shooting at you instead of one which would help immensely. There's one in particular forward and a bit to the right of where you drop down that I've been able to kill using this method, but it's not always there... if there's a Hopper that always comes out of a specific burrow then that would be very helpful. Alternatively it might help to unmorph, kill one of the Hoppers, then remorph and destroy the growths, ignoring the other two and completely ignoring the burrows since they don't seem to do anything.

5-eyes: morphing or screw attacking down the shaft instead of going down in biped appears to give you an instant unmorph when you reach 5-eyes and allow you to start shooting instantly compared to Samus being momentarily stunned if you jumped down biped. The main problem I've had with this is knowing where to aim, and the solution: on the way down the shaft mash the home button, and when you appear in 5-eyes's grip, aim at him with the home menu up, hold Z then take the menu down and start mashing A.

also you all would be fine with it if I did a run that had a couple deaths, right? I'm not sure if I'll be able to get phaaze consistent (though it seems that I will be at the rate I'm going)... I don't mean anywhere near as many as the 3:13 had, though, I mean just one, maybe two or three at the most.
A little bit of off topic but I wanted to see kips videos when he faces Dark Samus, Aurora Unit etc. I searched and found this page: http://www.metroid2002.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6454&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20 but all those links directs you to filefronts frontpage or maybe I am just doing something wrong. Does anyone have his files left?
wow, i cannot believe how much easier Drop Shaft is if you just unmorph and kill one of the Hoppers. Definitely recommended to anyone having problems with this room. grin new

AngerFist: seems the deletion queue got them. :\ The vid of the AU's second form appears to still be up though.

Heh, as usual, I forgot to notice important info. Thanks  :P  By the way, which dvd recorder have you decided to buy? (assuming you havent decided yet) 'Cause we gotta pump out your speedrun a.s.a.p.!  8-)
I'm just waiting for the shipping box, since that's free... :\ Been over 2 weeks now and still haven't recieved it... they told me to wait another week when I called a couple days ago.

So I still have my crappy DVD recorder that's ruined half my discs so I might be able to get it done before then... not sure about that though.

I also still have his original 2 energy tank version if someone really wants.  (I'll keep the links working for a month or so.)
ty for that SkippyJR, just makes me feel better about my upcoming run for a 100% hypermode SS. Everything he did was on my agenda, except i'll be SA aurora when on the ground, and unmorphing in hopper section of drop shaft that paraxade found to be easier.....

now for a decent dvr....

also, will try hyper-ball in a few more places, from DS battle, to aurora, as well as a few well timed hyper missiles

just gotta get that early energy tank down on brio ice

paraxade, can't wait to see your 22% SS hypermode, will probably be one of the most dl'd and watched speed runs ever (minus quake of course) u da man.... btw, seen any of the insider infor on the next metroid, hope you're ready ;)

link?
key word, INSIDER ;)

...link??
“Well done is better than well said”
I guess he means insider at IGN for members only.
Oh, so actual insider information.  I thought you were referring to the usual brand of "insider information" that is frequently detailed on every gaming-related website and blog across the 'net.  Wink

Edit: Doh! Beaten by AJAX.
ugh... i have no idea what's going on here but I've now lost 7-8 attempts on... the pirate fight for the energy cell. I've never had problems with this fight before, I don't understand why it's suddenly so hard.

also my DVDR just ruined another disc, only 3 left that still work. :\
Every Bit Counts
I'm trying a 22% hypermode now. It isn't that bad, yet. The hardest parts IMO are the [glow=red,2,300]pirate fights[/glow]. But there is also [glow=blue,2,300]Phazee[/glow] that I'l need to deal wth. :( I could never do a Single Segment one, at least without like [glow=green,2,300]50 deaths[/glow]. You mush have a [glow=red,2,300]will of iron[/glow] or something, because being able to do a run like this with olny 10 deaths is [glow=red,2,300]crazy[/glow]. Can't wait to see your run (after you finish it of course).

Zelda talk?

Go find the key in the room 3 stories and 4 rooms from the center of Death Mountain. Go save Zelda, (insert name here)!
well, as far as progress... I found out what I was doing wrong with the pirate energy cell fight and I'm getting it much more consistently, but I still keep making mistakes on the Olympus and restarting from not wanting to have mistakes that early in the run. I also found out that I can just format the discs my DVDR "ruined" and they'll work again. >.> (I'm very new to DVDRs) Hopefully I'll get it done soon.

Haha, that's so true...

Keep this up Paraxade, can't wait to see what you can come up with :)

No, I don't play Zelda. Also, I hope you do a good run soon Paraxade.
