After screwing around some Other M rant videos, I've heard some rumors saying that Nintendo banned the prime series from the real events. If so where? And if true, why? Its kinda cool they bring in something that replaces Metroids being the main antagonist for a while.
Thread title:

i wouldn't blame them really, i mean they're all technically shitty, broken games
One shall stand, one shall ball.
It's not true, just a misunderstanding of something Sakamoto said. He called them a side story, which they are.

Does it really matter? I mean, Metroid's story is....pretty sparse.

Other M was a masterpiece, you swine!

bad translations blowing up as usual.
WTF does 'banned them from the real events' mean?
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Nothing. Nintendo means nothing, Metroid means nothing, the world means nothing.

All is dust.
Anywhere, everywhere

Metroid is srs business. Especially the part where the human girl raised by birds fights a dragon and its pet jellyfish.

Then that one jellyfish died and she got PTSD. A deep and serious take on serious real life issues.

lol exactly.  Who the fuck gives a crap about story, anyways.  SO over ridiculous arguments about game story/fiction.  Who the fuck cares?

I puked over this thread on the CV dungeon forums where people argued about story of AoS.  I was like:  Hello?  Count Dracula's Transylvanian castle appears in an eclipse at a shrine in Japan, and an exchange student who's lineage allows him to be possessed by monster's souls gets sucked into it, etc etc - and you're taking that shit seriously?  I got serious responses about what awesome writing it was.  I just like to play the damn game.

Oh okay so its just set aside for now.

I know Metroid's story is pretty fucking sluggish but stories are supposed to bring some entertainment to the players even when gameplay is the main focus in video games. The only thing now is how is Nintendo going to resurrect Metroid after this disaster came.

Wait eight years and hand it over to a Western second party developer.

Back to Texas I'm assuming? :P

yeah, because that worked out soo well the first time

Which is indeed great Miyamoto knew what he was doing when he was part of the prime trilogy partnering with a bunch of people from TX. I guess Sakamoto became so jealous that they made a better game than he ever could.

Just don't let them make sequels.

wait, does this mean Super Metroid was an Other M-level franchise-killing game???

Yes.
Ta'kaya as "Teyla the Demiphoenix"
The Metroid Prime games are designed to fit within the canon of the Metroid Series, but except in their little side story do not actually contribute to it. However, if all Phazon in the universe was destroyed, what explains the Hyper Beam at the end of Super Metroid? If I recall correctly, the very first bit of phazon was produced by a metroid that had too much to eat (they do output pure energy as waste, afterall).

Timeline:
- Metroid and/or Zero Mission
    - Metroid Prime (apocryphal)
        - Metroid Prime: Hunters (Super-apocryphal. It is an apocryphal product among other apocryphal products.)
    - Metroid Prime 2 (apocryphal)
    - Metroid Prime 3 (apocryphal)
- Metroid II: Return of Samus
- Super Metroid
- Other M
- Metroid Fusion

Disclaimer: For those that are unfamiliar with the term, Apocryphal is the grey zone between Canon and Non-Canon. Whatever is in this zone cannot be accurately described as either. Metroid Prime is a good example, for it is designed to fit within the canon of the Metroid series, but does not entirely contribute to it. However, that does not necessarily mean that it is Non-Canon, for it does not conflict with Metroid Canon.
Now if you were to change the entire backstory of the game so that instead of the Galactic Federation, it was a bunch of factions at war with eachother (example: United Confideracy of Terra, versus a bunch of other factions), then it could be considered Non-Canon, since it would actively conflict with the Canon of the franchise.
ANKOKU
No. Other M is full canon. Just no one wants it to be.

Other M is the only game I consider canon.
