Yep, I've done it again. Pumping these things out like rabbits aren't I?

Well, my ideas wouldn't all fit in one hack, so I made some Puddin!

In this Puddin, you'll find hidden items, new paths, and the same old bosses, but the same old strategies won't work. (I even edited Kraid's room).

Save states will be needed, but not too extensively. The majority of the time I needed them was during boss fights.

Also, this hack requires:
1. Extensive use of the mockball and speedball, as well as some easier techniques such as walljumping and DBJ.
2. Varialess heated rooms, not too many though.
3. Ability to shortcharge(not super short, but smaller than just delaying the dash button) (savestates help)
4. Intuition and Creativity

Intuiton and Creativity are for not getting stuck, as some of the actions needed to proceed aren't obvious. However, Puddin is linear, and you shouldn't be wandering around for hours.

IBJ is never required for completion of this hack. If you can IBJ, you can get some items sooner, but if it looks like IBJ is necessary, there's another way.

Also, for those of you who want to know, the totals for 100% are (230 55 50).

Now, I'll address the posts (in advance) of: OMG it won't work, whats wrong with my rom?

I used the unheadered Super Metroid [JU](!).smc (I also used SMILE to patch the IPS file, and it all works like a charm). If you don't have the right rom, search engines are your best friend.

Now that all that's out of the way... I hope y'all enjoy your Puddin!

Yay!  First post.  I'll be trying this one before I finish gravy ;)

Luckily speed/mockballing is my cup of tea so i'll likely enjoy this one more.  (Not that gravy wasn't good)
Every Bit Counts
Nice. I'll try it.
By the way, why do all of your hack names have to do with food?
I think they are named after whatever he ate recently. :P
Every Bit Counts
I do to. But this is a nice hack so far. Nice level desgin.

Very much sort of. I've had a really bad virus for the past week, so pudding, apple sauce, and soup were pretty much all I ate at all. Applesauce and soup didn't sound as cool as Puddin, so there ya go.
You spelled wandering wrong :o. Anyway, I will try this later; I've got a one room hack to comit to!

Every Bit Counts
do you ever need to do heated rooms without Varia?

yes, first post edited. Got so used to it I wasn't thinking about that being hard. Although you should have enough energy by the time you get to the heated rooms to easily survive them once you find your way.

Nice to see you're moving quickly Fano
Metroid Soup actually sounds pretty cool.
Cool. I can't play right now, but I am really looking forward to this.

That it does. Maybe I'll make it a trilogy next summer...  Wink
Metroid Sugar isn't bad either. :P

Mmm...Sugar Metroids
Now that I can mockball/speedball, HERE I GO!
Thought of something else required, semi short charges. I updated the first post, but also put it here so everyone would notice. These charges are all possible in realtime, though I do recommend using savestates before you attempt one. Saves a lot of time if you fail the charge.

Breathe in the Future, Breathe out the Past
I'm on this! Just as soon as I finish refining my one room hack.
Okay so I lied. I couldn't resist starting this hack.

I just got the speed booster and am now leaving Norfair. I liked the way you placed the E-tanks.

It seems very good so far.
Just beat phantoon.  So far I can say that this is a nice hack.  I like the level design and the difficulty makes it almost like a mini-impossible.  I'll have to finish this tomorrow though, zzz.

Thanks, and I placed those that way because right around that position in my testing, I nearly died. They also prevent the need of pause abuse, which I hate.
Yeah, pause abuse being required would be lame.

Just got the Varia Suit. The Wrecked Ship was nice, and Phantoon was just awesome.
I would have preferred that you kept

Phantoon totally underwater rather than the lava thing.  We've already seen that in your previous hack...I loved the sunken ship thing you had going on, why didn't you keep it?  :(
Are the crumble blocks in kraid's room supposed to look messed up?

Actually,
Phantoon in Gravy was partially underwater, no lava there. Also, there are a couple of rooms in the WS that aren't water filled. Think of it the way I thought of it, the lava is actually water thats been superheated by Phantoons fireballs

Any block that you put in Kraid's room other than the blocks already in there will look messed up. While I didn't add any blocks, there is no crumble block gfx for that room, thus the jumbled look. I thought that they didn't look too bad considering how some of the other things I tried looked.
Metroid Exp: Exploration - Great, Skills - Decent
I guess its a good thing I have found other things to do besides play SM hacks, because no new hack will ever be playable for me.
