Your rate for collecting items is 59%
Quote from Cardweaver:
Lance, it seems to me that you're inadvertantly trying to go for low percentage. I have no idea which tanks you missed, but I had 6 when entering LN. Granted, I know where everything is and when it becomes accessible. Somehow you manage to push on through. Good job.

The reasoning behind the order of the bosses is
I always thought that Maridia had more potential than Norfair to be difficult, and it was easier to prevent major SBs by putting the bosses in this order.

Well, maybe not so much for low% but something like low e-tank run so far  =)
That would be interesting, but I think I will collect some more tanks too. Actually it has been quite fun surviving low energy situations. The best part was the large rising lava room in LN where I had one e-tank left and no reserves. I could not CF after that either, because I needed those few PBs I had left for proceeding in the kago room.

Oh, and no problem about the rom thingie, luckily I can read those texts  :)
Okay, Botwoon wasn't hard but...was incredibly boring...  After fighting Ridley, Kraid, Golden Torizo, Phantoon and Crocomire who were all hard, this was just tedious...

Ah, I take it that you didn't discover Botwoon's quirky weakness then?

Botwoon is weak vs Pseudo Screw attack. Hits him for 3 times the normal damage it would deal.

I now have 95%. I am still missing 1 E-Tank, 4 Missile Packs, and 1 Super Missile pack. I think I have gotten all of the most difficult items, including the supers at the top right of the wrecked ship, the supers underneath the robot in the bottom right of the wrecked ship, and the supers next to the Escape Shaft. I will try to hunt down the rest later
Ok, so Phantoon wasn't as bad as I thought.  Took a couple tries, but I eventually wasted the sucker.

Couple key items acquired, went back to Pink Brinstar since I could now head back in thanks to having the proper weaponry to kill the little buggers there.

Wasn't too long before I met with Spore Spawn.  Couple attempts was all that I needed to down it.  Fun little puzzle to get to the top of the room I have to say.

Scored another key item, then went back to Norfair so I could kill the enemies I wasn't able to previously there, then went to Crocomire.

That fight was just ugly xD.  Crumble blocks certainly make it more painful :P.  I beat him after some choice selection of words.

Reward was the Grapple Beam after moving through a few more rooms.  Backtracked to Pink Brinstar to get my most recent key item, the Power Bombs.

Going to do some item collecting before tackling the next area...wherever that is.  Unless more platforms were put in Maridia, my hunch is that I have to go to Lower Norfair next.

Current Stats...
4 E-Tanks
1 Reserve Tank
55 Missiles
10 Super Missiles
5 Power Bombs
Grapple Beam
Beams: Charge, Ice
Varia Suit
Morph Ball & Bombs
Hi-Jump Boots
Speed Booster
Bosses Beaten: Kraid, Phantoon

I'm sorry to say this, but this hack is nowhere as good as Gravy. Combining my divine power of getting stuck and a very nonlinear hack that I force myself to play is a very bad combination. In Gravy there were some instances where I did get stuck too, but I could atleast abuse frame-advance to proceed (e.g. LN statue entry). Also invisible walls and non-obvious bombblocks are things that really can ruin a hack for me.

Gravy > Puddin.
Draygon just sucked.

Why the hell did you make him invulnerable to everything? Now I guess I have to go back and find me a Plasma beam or something. Not for a while though, this thing sucked the joy out so I will leave this be for some time. At least put the necessary weapon(s) in the route so that you cannot miss it and go to a battle that you cannot win. Game designer rule number one: Avoid dead-ends at all costs. This is very bad thing and I recommend you to change it for 1.1

Taking only a little damage is one thing, but it is not nice to see even super missiles just pop into thin air like nothing is just stupid. I know he is supposed to be last boss, but come on, this is just meaningless artificial difficulty that makes things tedious.

Botwoon was long and boring. The grapple blocks "maze" in Maridia big room was quite nice (I also got myself stuck in a wall a couple of times in different places, there is no helping it really). I also liked those mockball challenges, they really made me scratch my head for a while. Also you really know how to hide items, some of them are really clever.

I agree with Kriole, Gravy was better. This one is like a spin-off or something. A dessert if you will.  :)
Every Bit Counts
Gravy was much better. Making it so that if you didn't have 2 E-Tanks before the heated rooms, you would half to go back and get them is just annoying. I might give this another shot, but from the comments, it doesn't really make me want to play this.

I entered the heat rooms with 0 energy tanks. =/ Pause abuse for the win.

You do need the Plasma beam to beat Draygon, but it is not a dead end.

The gray door leading to the room behind him is not real, you can walk right through it.
Well, I'm sorry you guys feel that way about it, but yeah, Gravy was better.

Well... Draygon is much much easier if you explore his room a bit. As long as you do that, you cannot miss the necessary weapon.

A dessert if you will...  laugh new laugh new
Well, so far I must say this hack is quite fun.  Feels like an easier version of SM:Impossible to me.

Think I'll take a break for today.  I just broke into LN and took several attempts to get through the room before GT.  Had to use a CF and barely made it into GT's room with only 16 energy left.  Thank god for the E-Tank there.

Then came GT.  He took several tries before I won...with only 39 energy remaining :P.

Claimed my reward in the next room, used the energy station to get fully healed, then savestated and stopped there for now.

I'm guessing I'll have to fight Ridley very soon xD.  Joy.
The only reason I found the fake door

in Draygon's room is because I followed him up to the door shooting him after he spit his gunk.  He knocked me into the room
Oops, sorry. I lost my mind when Draygon did not get hit and then I immediately stopped playing and started ranting. I still think it is a little bit of a stupid idea.

You too? Welcome to the club.  :D
It is nice that some items are hidden, but you really don´t have to hide ALL of them, at least leave some e-tanks and stuff available for the heated rooms and enough firepower for bosses and stuff like that.
Was still on the computer this evening so I decided to continue onwards.

Rising acid room in LN took some attempts to get through.  Crumble block mania I say :P.

Other than that, I only had trouble in two rooms thereafter.

First one was the super pirates room.  Couldn't seem to find a way to get close to them until I found a hidden crumble grapple block.

...I then got a welcome surprise when I accidentally grappled one of them.  Let's just say the 4 1/2 E-Tanks I had got drained away in 1/4th of a second xD.  It's the orange critter from the Wrecked Ship in Gravy all over again!

After that amusing discovery and reloading my savestate to kill them both proper, it wasn't long before I hit the other tricky room.  It had none other than Ridley.

I wasn't expecting this to be easy.  7 E-Tanks and 1 Reserve Tank don't last long against something that can dish out lots of damage like Ridley  (Just curious, but is 7 E-Tanks and 1 Reserve Tank the max health you can have against Ridley?).

Thankfully it only took a couple tries before I nailed the sucker...and had a sizable amount of energy left (Around 3 or so E-Tanks left).

Snagged my reward which I was correct in assuming I was going to get.

Few spots to check after getting out of LN before moving on to Maridia.
Mission completed "successfully"
Clear time 4:17
Item collection 52%
And of course, animals saved with some 5 seconds left in the escape timer. (yes I did goof around there for a while)

I finished without Spring Ball or Space Jump or Spazer. I just wanted to finish the game so I went straight to finale. I had 6 e-tanks (and 2 Rtanks) in Tourian and that was more than enough. I did not visit Gauntlet, because the door to statue room was wide open already when I entered that room. This time I knew something beforehand, I was able to avoid the trap in escape because I found those few blocks earlier.

This was kind of a "meh" -experience, I doubt I will joint the party and search for any more items. I appreciate your effort though, you have creativity and courage to try something new. Kudos for that!
Good job Lance, I'm glad you decided to finish.

This is really good advice, and if I end up making a third hack, I will definitely take it into account.

Sometimes when I'm testing, I forget that I know where everything is, and I focus a little too much on just making sure that it's possible, instead of making sure that it's probable.

I'm also really glad everyone has liked the mockball puzzles so far. I especially like that one green brinstar room where if you have the high jump boots or speedbooster on, the spikes'll probably get ya.
Yeah at least I like those challenges where you have to un-equip stuff to make it possible/easier.

Oh, and whenever I was thinking how to get through some part, the answer usually was mockball or speedball.
4:43
82% Items.

Same thing as the rest are saying.  It's not as good as Gravy but still decent.  What I disliked most was how the bosses weren't harder, just more annoyingly drawn out.  Especially Draygon and Botwoon.  Seriously, how was I supposed to guess that the door was fake in Draygon's lair?  I spent about 30 minutes fighting him the normal way until I got bumped through...

Didn't save the animals but I got the escape shaft Supers during the escape, for what that was worth. :P  Made it to the ship with only ~10 seconds to spare.

If you make your third one I'd like to see more changes to the landscape as well.  This wasn't as much a half hack as a really hard version of SM with different item locations.  Maybe you can try re-doing the rooms in new configurations.

I really like how I had to get to Space Jump though.  That was pretty clever.:)

Hmm, my guess is that Cardweaver intended us to find out the way I did.  So if you'll go back and read my post (which you obviously didn't) then you'll probably find an answer to your own question.

But in all fairness, it was marked with a spoiler tag.  Meh.

Edit:  Also, i don't know what you guys were attacking Draygon with, but my regular ice/wave worked just fine.  Unless you all wussed out and grabbed Spazer.
Grabbing spazer before Draygon is impossible...

You need
springball to get spazer, but you need plasma to get springball, and you can't get plasma unless you're already fighting Draygon

Lol, I got the spazer using temporary bluesuit. I didn't realize until much later that I was supposed to have the springball first.
Hmm, didn't take bluesuit into consideration because I thoght blue suit was only obtainable through the Draygon fight. Did you use a cheat?

Also, the intended way for finding the fake door in Draygon's room was to just pay attention. All shots go right through it, whereas real doors stop the wave beam. I do like that some of you were knocked into it, an unexpected pleasant surprise for most of you right? Actually, I'd imagine most of you were like: SHIT! I had him red bellied!

So yeah... fake door during a boss fight=not my best idea. I guess I hack and I learn.

But then what was the point of getting Spazer?  It's worse than Plasma Beam.  Seems like the only reason to get it is just that, to get it, and get 101%.  I really think it would've been more using before Plasma.  Sure it's not a required item but it's an upgrade nonetheless and I think it should be useful in any hack...
