Cardweaver:  The door opened right up for me.  Are you sure the Beetoms are part of the enemy counter?

Also, IIRC, the door was never gray to begin with.

I'm stuck.

The last major item I got was the Varia Suit. I think the next hing I need is Power Bombs, but I'm not sure. I assume that the next thing to do is in some hot Norfair area, but I've searched every heated room I can get to fairly thoroughly, to no avail.

Next you need the ice beam.  Once you have this, search for some new enemies that might be weak against it.    Wink

The item you got is more of a reward for WS, the real item that you got that should allow you to move on is the
charge beam

That will let you back into Pink brinstar, where a friendly plant is waiting for you. grin new

I'm positive they are. 7 enemies to open the door, 5 pirates and 2 beetoms=7 Although I have had some problems with different varieties of grey doors, so maybe its a small corruption. Thankfully, it wasnt too important.
edit: the door was never grey to begin with? Well, it was grey, just probably in the early game. I think I may have it as the same index as the door leading out of Draygon's room, which could be why you were able to go through it.

Has the item layout changed at all? I am stuck in a big pink brinstar room. (beforespore spawn) I've got to get used to nonlinearity...

What's the last item you got? If its your first time going through pink brinstar, head on down to Norfair, and make sure you have an Etank before you leave pink brinstar (the actual Etank is in Crateria). If its the second time through pink brinstar, then the advice I gave to Captain Canada applies.

Edit: It also appears that while I said that there were 101 items, I still managed to get the totals wrong. The correct totals (I promise) are 230 55 50.
I feel really dumb now, cause I tried killing those dudes earlier, but didn't think to bother charging the beam. Thanks

Alright, it's time for some puddin'!
Well, I've encountered the never dying Draygon. Did this ever happen to anyone in any hack or version of SM before? Its really weird.

Smv contains small spoilers

Metroid Hunter
I get the speedbooster with 1 E-Tank... it is not soooo hard to manage this. But without any E-tanks it is nearly impossible i think.
Stuffs. Yar.

Well, I'm at school right now, so I can't watch the smv, but if you're talking about what I think you are, killing Draygon off-screen to the left will cause him to keep going left until he loops back to his room... IIRC, it takes about ten minutes. If that's not what you're talking about, then disregard this post.
No... thats not the immortal draygon i've encountered. This one goes down to the center to die, and the little guys move in towards him, but then I touched him, his eye opened, and the little guys reset back to far away.
Almost happy
I have not encountered that glitch but AFAIK draygon is one of the most glitch dense boss fights in video game history. There are so so many different weird glitches that can occur during that fight. But if you stop touching him he dies.

Tis true. One time I went for the grapple kill and I disappeared completely. It was like I tried to grapple the thing while Draygon was trying to pick me up, the next thing I know, I'm through the wall, then dead.
Was there an easier way to get Ice Beam?  I thought I needed Spring Ball to get there and that I had just Sequence Broke for it.
Was it really necessary to do some crazy jumping through crumble blocks to get up to the top of Spore Spawn's room?  If not, I'll massive head->desk...

Well, you didn't SB, but you did do it the hard way. The (slightly) easier way is:
you lay a bomb right before the crumble block, then just as the bomb is about to explode, you move out onto the crumble block. The bombs blast will jetison you up and then you move onto the next row. ITs much much easier with a bit of practice.
Ah yes, the good ol´ morph ball maze from Impossible, that Spore Spawn escape was a little similar. Still having nightmares when I tried (and eventually did too) it without save states.  :)

Anyway, instead of preparing for exam I played a little more  :D
Nice quirks overall, I will say something proper when I have finished this one. Some parts I like, some I don´t.

Interesting choice to put Ridley before Maridia. Was I supposed to have more than 4 e-tanks when entering Lower Norfair?  =)
Luckily bosses were not incredibly hard so I managed somehow, there also was at least one e-tank on the way and I had enough supers to CF too.

I also like how you prevent sequence-breaking in some places.
Ok, the Crocomire fight was just dumb hard.  Pissed me off to no end.

Oh great now I gotta find a rom for this too.. The last place where I got the one for gravy is no longer up and running.
Metroid Exp: Exploration - Great, Skills - Decent
Thats why you dont patch the one you got, you make a copy of it, then patch the copy.

You can also use SNESTool to deheader the headered one.
Actually I had some hard time finding a good rom for this one. The rom I used with Gravy did not work with this one for some reason, so I had to try other choices. The only one I got to work was this really weird rom that has Japanese text everywhere. Well, variation is refreshing sometimes...
Fun hack so far.  Kraid was a royal annoyance thanks to the crumble blocks, but not insanely hard.

Scored Hi-Jump Boots.  Time to go onwards (Pretty sure I can break through to the upper half of the Red Brinstar shaft now).

Also...were you really suppose to backtrack all the way through those heated rooms after snagging the Speed Booster (As in going back the exact way you came)?  Having 3 E-Tanks saved me in that regard in the room with the fireball shooting faces and the lava at the bottom.  Oddly enough, this room is not heated on a return trip.  That wasn't the case on the first visit.

Still, getting through that bit of the room took some effort.  Got to the nearest un-heated room with around 60-70 energy left (Started at 399 energy).

Refilled energy on the fire snake's projectiles, then made it to the hallway with the blocks you can speedboost through to make it back to the elevator.  Shinesparked through the passage (Running normally doesn't work due to speed booster blocks on the floor right below the already mentioned blocks), back at the elevator up to Brinstar.  Not much more to it than that.

Current Stats...

3 E-Tanks
15 Missiles
5 Super Missiles
Morph Ball & Bombs
Hi-Jump Boots
Speed Booster
Bosses Beaten: Kraid
Hmm, you probably made things real hard for yourself.  You were supposed to go back through the north passages that you normally take to get to the bubble room in the original SM.  There was another E-Tank somewhere in those rooms to save your health.  You may want to go back to that area once you get Varia Suit just so you'll have plenty of health for this hack.
Knew it xD.  I might be regretting not taking that route because...well, Phantoon ain't pretty :P.  I'll deal with that boss tomorrow.
No he wasn't but I manages to keep enough health when fighting him that I was okay.
Since you don't need missiles for him, the blue flames will only give health.  And it seems to always be big health too.

Take a look at the health  laugh new

The reason it was a different rom was because I lost everything and had to find a new one. Sorry for the inconvenience...

Well, It couldn't have been too much harder than Kraid, who had similar obstacles. The idea behind the room is:
All the crumble blocks are formed because when Crocomire goes past them, he weakens the foundation cause he's a large fella.

Also, after him I don't use those blocks excessively.

Lance, it seems to me that you're inadvertantly trying to go for low percentage. I have no idea which tanks you missed, but I had 6 when entering LN. Granted, I know where everything is and when it becomes accessible. Somehow you manage to push on through. Good job.

The reasoning behind the order of the bosses is
I always thought that Maridia had more potential than Norfair to be difficult, and it was easier to prevent major SBs by putting the bosses in this order.
