That basically sums up your response to every reply to your posts in this thread.

Better?

rofl.

I'll be interested in seeing the final result.  I'm sorry for making it seem like a huge deal; it just got kinda...political?
I don't really care anymore.
Go, mods and admins, do your stuff. I wont bother you no more.
I've noticed something. Click on my sig and don't maximize. The pics will be compressed on that window while it's small enough to fit in a maxed one. I was wondering if that can be fixed.

EDIT: Maybe not. It's nothing important anyway.

Is your sig it's original size?

I had an idea before that the titles would be more useful if a person could pick one out of a pool rather than them reflecting how many times they have posted. You could choose to be a speedrunner, artist or whatever. Might help new users to identify what everyone does instead of giving them incentive to spam.
good idea.

Yeah... huh? We told you to actually read what's being said and make posts that aren't stupid spam, but you won't listen, so bye bye you go.
FWIW,

i) I couldn't really care two hoots about the disappearance of post count and ranks, and
ii) das Banning gemacht spass hat.

c'est tout.
A little problem with The Link's idea : noob users would abuse that privilege. Imagine somebody who can't finish super metroid and metroid prime in less than 20hours, he could choose the "speedrunner" rank. Or someone who doesn't know what is sequence breaking would be a sequence breaker.

These ranks will no longer mean anything great. Kip, having the speedrunner rank won't mean anything because everyone can get it.

Or am I wrong?
I agree with you, Silent. I, for one do not know what sequence breaking is (early items I think) and I can just choose that rank regardless. And tere's no way you can confirm that, can you?

Well, if someone chose a rank that didn't apply, they'd just look stupid, right?

No, they can make it look like they can get it.

Eh, I don't really like the idea either, but for different reasons.  Mostly, I'm not here because I'm good at games, but I know a whole effing lot about breaking and running.  I simply have a different goal, but I also wouldn't want to choose the rank of "artist".  Seems rather pretentious, and I imagine that most of the runners wouldn't really care to have it emblazoned on their rank.  I mean, it's just a way of saying "look at meeeee!"
same as at scu; agreed.

What, as in special ranks are awarded to those who have actively earned them?

If we were to ever do that (I'm against it), the ranks would have to be approved for the user. Like, new users with no experience with SBing or speed running could only get a rank such as "beginner Sequence Breaker", something like that.
I really, really don't like the idea at all, though.
meant that it serves no real purpose but to assist the user in showing off. you should not need to get respect that way, imho.

Meh, I didn't want them to convey any status. I meant it a more casual way, a sort of compromise between having no titles and making your own. A bit like the option to pick your favourite Metroid game and most certainly not so people could prove how good they are, just pick a title they liked or suited them the most. It could work with just neutral titles but maybe a blanket title for all non-mods/admins like "forum member" would be for the best.

Would anyone be opposed to just going back to the way the titles were?

Not me.
in the name of justice!
I really kinda like the blank space of doom, but if people want their metroids back I'm certainly okay with that.

And...it's so...symmetrical!

Y'know, might just be because of the time I spent outta this place, but when I first saw this thread, I thought "what, more moderators now? o_O wtf?", and then I figured out that it referred to forum software modifications. :P Might be useful to change the title of the thread to "new phpbb mods (2006whateverwhatever)" instead of the one it has now to avoid confusion.

Then again, that might just as well be my own paranoia working towards making me go all weewee. :P
