If you're using I_E, go to the menu bar (You know, where File, Edit, View, etc is?) and go to "View" then scroll down to "Source." From there, search for a mod's honest-to-goodness custom rank word using ctrl + F for a quick search. If you know HTML, you can easily see exactly what the color, font, and size of the text is that you should be using.
Then, save the image as a .bmp and then you'll need an image converter program to make sure you don't have color loss or that texture effect happening when you save it as an image type with an invisible background. Also, I cannot stress enough that in order for the image to have a transparent background, the background must be all one color and that color must be selected as the secondary color.
Everytime I view a thread, all the content of the thread comes up, then the page refreshes itself, like if I had hit F5 on my computer. It's not a hinderance or anything, as it happens before I can even drag my mouse over to the scrollbar, but it is somewhat annoying to see happen over and over again.
And it happens everytime I view a thread, and only when I'm viewing threads. Doesn't happen on the boards.
Not having any qualms with this per se... But I've found that I have to click Back twice in order to get to the previous page. Clicking once goes back to the top of the page, or wherever I had scrolled to once it refreshed. The batteries in my mouse only last so long, and their life is effectively shortened by doubling the clicks to go back. As a matter of fact, it did it when I Previewed this post as well.
Diggin' the non-ranked thing. I was always disconcerted by the fact that I've been here for about a year and a half and only had ~140 posts. Now I don't have to worry.
i've released the latest version of my horizontal scrollbar negation mod mod, so all links to individual posts should end up exactly on the desired post now.
still looking for a solution to the "double back" problem. if anyone here is a javascript guru, now would be the time to speak up.
edit: i'm not able to see when you have to click back twice. dare i hope that i actually just fixed it on accident?
Opera, Firefox, IE. I click on a topic or a page, it takes me to the page, then gets a little # by the URL (nothing after it, just "#"), causing me to have to click back twice to get out.
Boy, I REALLY hate these new mods. But hey, what can I do about it?
What mods do you hate?
If you don't like the horizontal scrollbar mod, what makes you like horizontal scrolling in the first place? Do you have one of those tilt-wheel mice (or a Mighty Mouse like me)?
I couldn't understand anyone except spammers or idiots hating the "old topic warning." It keeps you from getting told off, and you don't have to read the date on the topic even! The only time it could get annoying is when you must post something in an old topic, which shouldn't happen too much anyway!
Why, cuz yall be lockin' my topics? =P I hate the mods that take away the ranks and post count. The "no scrolling" mod is the only one that is actually nessessary and helps.
When I first read the "new mods" thing, I thought there truly were new moderators here, but then I clicked on one of the links in Nate's post. Realization came to me then, and I became enlightened to the ways of people who don't have moments of extreme stupidity (such as not reading links).
I still wish we could get a straight answer as to why ranks were removed. I was just about to move up one I think.
Makes me think of what the US legal system has done.
In school, you can no longer…
•Say the pledge of allegiance, since the atheists are offended by "under god" •Have a Valentines Day party, since St. Valentine's Day was originally a Christian holiday (though for the most part, no longer) •Celebrate Halloween, because the celebration is of All Saints Day eve, a Christian holiday (plus, some people don't like the fact it originated from a Pagan celebration) •Have books assigned if there is a religious or controversial aspect to them (such as the mother of all: the Da Vinci Code, which contains very controversial religious ideas) This one really upsets me because the schools have to filter out all these books, which also eliminates the good ones. Being someone who loves to read, this is a big blow.
This makes me a little angry, particularly the last one, since there are BARELY any books they think fit for reading that don't get past their filtering. One that they seem to have missed is a book by Andrew Clements called Things Not Seen. It is written in the style of many of his other books (a style which I very much like), but is longer and more complex, and therefore aimed at teens instead of kids, like his other works. But no…they make us read crappy books like "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time", which is written from the perspective of a 15-year-old with a sever case of Aspergers Syndrome. It was immediately apparent to me that the protagonist had Aspergers, as my best friend has a milder form of it as well. The author had no problem making that apparent, and it seemed fairly authentic. The problem with writing books like this, is the author may be skilled at writing in such a perspective, but they often neglect the storyline and the shallow critics don't even take interest in the mainly missing plotline. News to people: anyone who loves to read is not so easily fooled, and will NOT enjoy such a book. As far as the other books go, Animal Farm was a good allegory to the Russian Revolution, and I enjoyed it, but it was too short. Island of the Blue Dolphins…too early, not interesting enough…The Last Mission…too bloody, not deep enough to warrant the the events that took place…Fallen Angels…overuse of profanity, not the kind of book most enjoy…Make Lemonade…feels like you're watching it through a cloud, disgusting too…which leaves A Long Way from Chicago. Hated by many, but it is exactly the type of book that appeals to me, especially because of my background with farming and older books (such as The Great Brain). It must have been the only summer reading book I ever enjoyed. Then there's the good stories like Macbeth and Romeo and Juliet, that are ruined by the teachers. Trying to assign hidden meanings should only be done by authors, not speculators.
…
Oops.
The connection I was trying to form was that individuals acting out require individual punishments, not forumwide limitations.

Those aren't mods, they're changes made by Nate. Please try to use the correct terms if you're not going to explain enough in a post.
