My guess as to where it is:  Red Brinstar.  From the elevator up to Crateria, just head all the way down the shaft blowing up stuff as you go along (Should be a crumble grapple block to clear out of the way en route).  Open the door at the very bottom with a Power Bomb.  Inside are spikes, little yellow jumpy thingies, and a missile expansion at the end (Think there was a power bomb expansion here in the original).

...Thing is, you can lay a power bomb to destroy the leftmost wall and gain access to another expansion behind it.

Now, the oddity...the wall is solid now.  I can't seem to find a way into that part of the room.

I could have sworn there was a Super Missile block near the entrance of the room or something like that, but I can't seem to find it.  Or maybe I've confused it with another hack I've played and my mind is all messed up  laugh new .

So...yeah, perhaps in this room?

Still getting items for my trip into LN.  Almost done with that though.
Actually I thought of that room too, the way it is now "sealed" that is. I couldnt combine this room with the "missing" power bomb, nice thinking Anima Zero! I couldnt find an entrance there as well.

I am also somewhat confused about different hacks, some hack had some nice entrance to that other side but it did not work here  :)

Saturn, is there an entrance further to the left in this room? Is this the one you meant?
is there some special  trick to getting this? Do need to use Kagoball or  Crystal Flash? or is there a secret cave?

EDIT:

LOL, simupost. I deleted the "unnecessary" tips I gave  :)

Oh, that room is the one Saturn? Now to think how the heck....
Anima & Lance:
Yes, thats exactly the room I was talking about all the time. And yes, it sure has a entrance to the hidden room behind the wall.

Kidgoku:
Hint: No Kagoball or CF there. :)
Yeah, it took me a while, but got it. Very clever once again!

Thanks, I'll go back and try again, I just got Kraid missile. took me 15 mins to figure it out:)

And WS Etank, I think i found it within 5 mins, lol.
Found the way to the other side of that room myself as well.  Cleverly placed indeed.

Now then, did a bit more item collecting before soldiering it towards LN.

10 E-Tanks
4 Reserve Tanks (all full of course!)
170 Missiles
20 Super Missiles
35 Power Bombs
Grapple Beam
Beams: Charge, Spazer, Plasma
Morph Ball & Bombs
Spring Ball
Hi-Jump Boots
Speed Booster
Space Jump

And what happened?  It's still possible.  I don't flickerbatting believe it.  That E-Tank before GT might need to be placed in the room after it for you know what to be truly impossible.  Crazy?  Yes.  But it's the only way.

What am I talking about you might be thinking?  Take a look at the .smv and make a guess  :P .
Wow, that chozo statue is really screwed up. I tried that same thing myself and it depleted ALL of my energy. And I did have full reserves... strange indeed. Nice find once again!

I still dont want the e-tank to be taken away from before GT fight. That would be absurd because normally people do not reach that room without one CF and another one would make the GT fight insanely hard and as stated before, CF during GT fight is close to impossible.

Maybe put the e-tank deep into the wall so it takes some time to "dig" it out of there?  :)  That way you would have to do one CF but you would have plenty of energy left if you have already CFed once. That would only require some strong pointers that the tank is there so that it will be useful and people notice that it is a good way to max your energy before the fight.

Goddammit, it's still possible... Evil or Very Mad
This is just crazy!

I think I should give up on this for now, I just don't see a way to slow Samus any more down while going to GT.

I don't think removing any more e-tanks is a good idea, because I really don't want to overdo it with LN's difficulty. Switching the Super Pack and the e-tank in the GT room isn't a good idea either, because this would allow you to get the energy tank at any time, and thus make the fight itself much easier that way. It's just important to prevent the player of any energy refill possibilities during any fight, to make them hard as they should be in this hack.

Actually I will of course look for other ways to still force CF before GT, but this will require some major design change in one of the rooms before GT, and this will take some time. I will let you know if I have found a good and safe solution. If you have some good suggestions, I would appreciate them as well.

As for the new hidden room, good job to find the entrance, Lance & Anima! I didn't thought you could do it that quickly. :)
Narrowed it down to where the X ray will be.:o

Very nice picture, unfortunately that does not help any  :)
as i recall, He said it wouldn't be available till after all the bosses are beaten.

The last boss is Ridley, So maybe all Grey doors that needed Ridley killed, will have X ray  hidden in it?
That is possible. All of these options are very possible.

You could also think that you get the varia AND gravity suit after Ridley, so the x-ray might be in any room in Maridia with water and it would be impossible to access without the gravity suit. Also in Norfair, you need at least the Varia suit to really explore some places, so it might be in Norfair too, all those heated and lava rooms....

One thing is that you might need to do some trick to get it. What would be the trick that requires you to have some of the items after Ridley (Varia, Wave, Gravity, Screw Attack, Ice)? All I can think of is the glitch through ceiling thing, but that has already been introduced elsewhere so I doubt that would be it. Although if the right spot comes to mind.... Arbitrary ceiling glitching sounds just crazy, because there is always a high possibility that you are not at the proper height to do the trick.

Maybe we should just draw on that map of the places you can't access with out. Varia, Wave, Gravity, Screw Attack, Ice.

If all else fails, Just shoot me.  :-s
Saturn:
I'm not motivated enough with the X-Ray search (or creative enough) so I just won't play this hack any further. I one day spent hours looking for it, tried all glitches, but no. Lance's brains is one inhuman superhypercomputer, I'll let him do the search as he seems to be more motivated too. :P

...new hidden room? What new hidden room? Screenshot please? :)

I actually had a really weird thought. I remember about Kejardon's weird X-Ray+Grapple Beam needing thingie that makes the game uberly glitched.
http://www.metroid2002.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2481
What if the X-Ray is obtainable this way. I honestly won't believe Saturn would've went this far with it...

...but in the other hand after playing this hack I wouldn't be so surprised about it. :P I've had many good ideas, 100% of them proved wrong about the X-Ray.
Quote from Lance Uppercut:
That grappling block is indeed an interesting find. I thought it was the original entrance to the snail missile tank but i couldn´t get through it even with timing my entering to the point where the block crumbles. (yes, it does crumble after about five seconds you attach beam to it so it could have something hidden)

X-ray crossed my mind too for a second, but for now: meh

Post is old, But I just passed it grin new

if you didn't figure it out already aiwebs_008

Tip

Take off gravity suit

I'm shocked too.  I was certain that making one E-Tank available only after Ridley would be enough...but apparently it wasn't.  I also wasn't sure if I wanted to keep mum about this, but I figured that I should come out about it :P.

Couple ideas, both I came up with in just a couple minutes, so who knows if they're good or not  laugh new :

1. Place spikes all along the ground in the lava pool just before the elevator to LN.  That way one is forced to take some more damage, perhaps even use their reserves, to survive here.

Failing that...

2. More spikes around the elevator once in Lower Norfair.  I don't know if it is possible to Space Jump in that small of an opening, but if it isn't, then perhaps this will work.

Just tossing my two ideas out there :P.
Nice ideas about X-Ray. :)

Tonski:

And thanks for that link. Unfortunately all zmvs and videos Kej made, are deleted by now. :(

Also, if I understood it correctly, how can one get X-Ray using that trick if it already requires the X-Ray to have in order to execute it? Not very logically. :)

Anima:
This are great ideas, and they are very easy to implant without needing to design anything new in the rooms. I think I will more or less do it the way you suggested, when I get some time. Thank you for your suggestions!
Tonski, thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, if my mind really was that sharp, I would have found that stupid x-ray already  :)

My motivation is fluctuating radically. Somehow I always find more motivation but that damned x-ray sure is one son of a gunship/kraid  :P

I will find it eventually, at least I will keep on trying for a while longer.

Kidgoku, thanks for that tip. Earlier I used snail as a platform to reach that hole with gravity suit. Maybe it is easier without. You should see the earlier versions where I used CF and snails to pass through ceiling to reach those missiles and supers. That was before anyone even found that entrance. ;)  I still havent got the snail missiles and supers in 1.5 and now I HAVE TO learn to make that hypersuper short charge  :|

Pwned me badly, eh? :P Well getting into that "secret world" kinda thing is actually possible with only the Grapple Beam, X-Ray only makes it glitching.

Anima Zero:
You're being stupid right there. We should not give Saturn any new ideas but try to avoid those sequence break-stoppers so that he gets frustrated enough and let's us have our sbreak.  laugh new But if I was to help with this problem, I'd say make a wall to where you have to go left, and put a small hole in that 1 block thin wall. You can only go through that block while being morphed into a ball and you have to go through that small hole, but at the same time you get hit by spikes.

Got it? I think it would work, and many new options are available of preventing this sequence break existing. At least I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, since you lose damage and have to go that way.

Kejardon:
If you happen to read this, would you have any time to make a SMV showing that glitch in the thread I gave a link to? :)

Of course it's easier aiwebs_008

Just stand on the edge of the platform on left hand side, Do a slight dash and jump in a ball and keep holding right Wink

Now getting the super missile is another story :|
Tonski:
Anima did a great job. I would still find one way or another myself to prevent that CF, but it would take more time. He just eased my job there, so it's only for the better that way.

Also your suggestion is a good one as well, but creating unnecessary morphball holes in rooms that don't give good opportunities for them won't be easy. I will test different stuff with spikes to see what turns out to be best.

You could always use the key combination pic I posted, provided you become that desperate.

I'll post it again so you don't have to waste time burrowing through 35 pages of posting. :)

By the way, I'm finishing up other Super Metroid hacks now, so I'll be back into SMI soon.
Thanks for the help, but I dont use zsnes at all.
Also I dont know how to use any features besides save states and slowdown and I definately dont want to learn  :P
I think I will manage with that. What a coincidence, I have just about to arrive to the point where I am trying Kidgokus advice to get to the snail missiles. Then let the fun begin  :)

Another thing: I thought I found the x-ray and gasped deep, but it was only some hidden passage I have never found even in the regular SM. Still no luck with that...

EDIT: Allright that entrance is pure gunship, kraid AND flickerbat. If I go there the way Kidgoku suggested, I get stuck when the block comes back. With gravity suit and snail it is also so very very tedious and I could not do it that way either. Crappiest thing in this hack I say. I would rather glitch a thousand crumble blocks with snails than try that BS for long. Those missiles can rot there for all I care.  Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad  Evil or Very Mad  :x  :(
