Mister ...
I'd prefer the game better if the sequence breaking wasn't meant to be put in, however, I do like the extra challenge of trying to get something last, first, and along those lines (For me, that'd be getting Varia after Bombs in ZM), and stuff like that. My parents say I need more of a challenge, so I try and challenge myself by completing the game in as many ways as possible, though sometimes it's not as hard as it seems.

nn12000, rent Ikaruga. then play it on the hardest difficulty and dont die.

that'll occupy you for a while.
Why so soon?  Haven't they learned that MP2 wasn't that good because the lack of time put into it?  It was kind of, well, slopped together.  Unlike MP1, which was a lot better designed.  That's why everyone loves it.  If there isn't a good Metroid release for the DS, I don't think it's worth owning.  But if it does turn out good, I guess I'll just use my little brother's DS.  But I'm positive it can not possibly be as good as prime 1.  What a shame.
This is honestly the first time i've ever seen a group of "legit" people complain about people fixing bugs.

You guys obviously don't have enough PC or multiplayer game experience.  I love patches, i hate bugs.  I don't like to break the game system, and i ESPICIALLY don't like bugs to be in multiplayer situations.  They fuck things over.  Badly.

Clipping errors and physics errors are the main things that SBing is about.  in a multiplayer situation these can give certain people an *incredible* advantage over people who don't use them.

Anyone play Halo 2?  You know about superjumps?
Anoyne ever played Counterstrike? Speedhack, Wallhack, exact same type of errors being exploited.

You're also seriously overestimating the amount of people who *don't* want patches.  It is very, very, very far from the "majority" who play metroid games to sequence break, i'd venture to say it's under 1% of the sold games.  1% is even quite high considering.

If i'm playing zelda, for instance, (or metriod prime 3) and i happen to fall through the ground in such a way that i cannot possibly move or get out - even if this glitch could possibly be used for "speed running".  I would still want it removed.  Why?  Cause the glitches most probable cause is that of absolute annoyance.  Noone likes getting "stuck" in a game.

Well, in terms of multiplayer I don't have a lot of experience. But, just by looking at certain things that can happen in MPH (Like being able to get into that part of the wall in Alinos Gateway that I've heard about.) I do have to agree that bugs/glitches in multiplayer are a big problem.

I admit, fixing the bugs and glitches that are found BEFORE a game is released is a good thing. Patches for PC games are also a good thing, but then again I don't normally speed run/sequence break those. To me, the problems encountered in PC games also seem to be more serious than most problems I've encountered on console games. (There are occasions like the Metroid Prime elevator crashes or not being able to get out of a certain room due to doors locking that rival PC problems though.) Some PC problems lead to the possibility of losing saved data or not even being able to play the game until they are fixed.

Part of the problem, from my point of view, is also the way that Metroid games in particular has been "fixed" through newer versions. As many of us have noticed, they seem to be targeting the specific things we find, that under normal gameplay circumstances, probably won't be encountered.

Yes, I would like them to fix those glitches/bugs that lead to things like getting stuck or having to start over. Most of what we find doesn't effect the average Metroid player, as you point out. The fact that they are fixing those kinds of things, while it doesn't effect me (Since I believe the only Metroid game that I don't have the original US version of is the NES Metroid, which is the rereleased NES version in the yellow packaging. ) is still something that I don't like.

In the end, it doesn't matter how much Sequence Breaking we manage to find in Corruption: I am still going to buy it because it's a Metroid game. Metroid games to me mean high quality gaming. (Like I've said before, I love all of the Metroid games, and I consider them all to be high quality gaming. Some just aren't as high as others. Wink)

Edit: Is it just me, or did my sig suddenly expand itself horizontally?

Edit2: Nevermind, it seems to have been fixed.
Take note of such "bug fixes" as those found in later versions of Geo Core, all of which affect early Plasma.  What kind of nasty bug could be due to a stalagmite?

Physics changes, glitch removal, etc. in a multiplayer game make far more sense than in a single player game of course.  One would like to balance out any form of unforseen advantages.  However, it is nifty for people who exploit things to play against eachother (see the original SSB for instance).  It would be far nicer for online games to split up the glitchers and non-glitches, rather than fixing or banning.  The above makes little sense when it comes to MP3:C, for it is a solo adventure.

Yes, i know about Superjumps, and i've discovered (and spread around) at least one of my own (the triple bounce from the small tower to the big tower in ascension was my invention). The amount of people who know about these glitches (climbing waterworks in Big Team Battle CTF) and the amount of people who actually use them (climbing the back of blue base in Containment) is a HUGE difference.

an estimate would be that:

90% of Big Team Battle players know that you can get on top of Containment from the back of blue base.

i'd say 60% know how to get up there.

Of that 60%, about 5% or less actually have used that glitch for Team Snipers.

and of that 5%, only 20% or less know that if you have a spectre, you can climb onto that area from Red Base.

of the 90% at the start, 20% would rather just superbounce.

It really isnt a very large amount of people, as the majority of Halo 2 people don't just play big team battle in the first place.

Thats what Custom Glitch games are for.

what kind of bugs did SSB have? i never knew about that. where can i find that info?
if the autoupdate thing is the case, i probably wont be effected much. why? well. for one, my dads too cheap to buy my house a wireless router. my sister has a laptop and is geting a second, we have pcs all over the house. he just prefers that a 4 plug router that has cables running through the walls is fine. although the WII will probably have inernet cables, he will probably be too lazy to set it up (yet just not lazy enough to run cables through the walls  :-s )

2. since my WII wont be hooked up, ill probably just not be able to download the snes, nes, and n64 games, which i will probably already have, i wont be missing out on much, although my game will still be at the original version

3. i seriously doubt ill even be able to get a launch WII and prime 3, simply because im too much of a spender to keep any amount of cash with me for long periods of- .... OMG! THE ICE CREAM MANS OUTSIDE! *runs outside and buys lots of ice cream* .... time
(user is banned)
yeah, i don't spend my cash on anything except for pop, slurpees, and supper at the golf course restaurant (which i get half off of). but that does amount to a bit, even considering that i do have a job (i don't get many hours at all).

I don't rent video games anymore because the only place that i could rent games from (without a membership card that they don't allow people under 18 to get) just shut down a few weeks ago (microplay).

so i'll probably pay for half of the Wii at launch, and my lil' bro will pay whatever's left.
wait... now that i think of it... the WII is supposed to launch at the end of this year right? well, my b-days december 15th, i MIGHT be able to get a launch WII for my birthday if my parents arent too lazy to get one.... i mean, my dad says im lazy because im on the computer all day... he programs them for a life, but apparently being 300 pounds isnt lazy as long as sitting on a pc all day is your job  Rolling Eyes
isn't it coming out during or on the American Thanksgiving?
thats november 31st, sounds about right, only 15 days before my b day, so my parents theoretically could pick it up
They will most likely push for a pre-november 17th release, before the PS3.

It's certainly not being lazy, since he's working. Of course, a person who works at such an idle job all day should really do something for their health afterward, but you can't call them lazy.

In a physical sense. :P
go two different meanings of the same word. shows how the world has changed, i think. pretty interesting.

Samus' Extended Grapple, Ice Cilmber Freeze Glitch, No Fuse Bombs for Link, Double Air Dodge for Y. Link. Some others I can't remember.

As for Prime 3, I don't know if they'll fix major SBs(Might be too much space on the Flash Drive to fix, hopefully) maybe just small glitches that are a tad obvious and can hinder the gamepayl expirience; such as MPH's "Push Through Wall" crap.
lol no way
Er, Samus's extended grapple... wasn't a glitch. Nor was Fox's ability to call his wingmates on the Star Fox stages. Easter eggs, is what those are referred to... lord knows why though.
But those other things were glitches. And the unlimited damage glitch with the... turnips and the lightguns, that's also a glitch. Oh lord.

erm, by SSB i was asking for SSB64, not SSBM

love how people forget about SSB64's existence.
Quote from ajbolt89:

Yeah, strangely enough it was removed from the PAL version, along with her Bomb Cancels.

Forget about SSB64's existance? Hardly, I just had a kick-back and we played the original for the whole night. I don't really know any "fun-enhancing" glitches in SSB though, I just know Samus' Bombs and Falcon's Falcon Kick remove their second jumps. (Quite ironic, since Falcon and Ganondorf got another jump after using Falcon Kick/Wizard's Foot in SSBM). That's not quite fun though. There's Mario's 999% damage combo trick, but that only works when set up correctly.

Hmmm... anyway, back on topic, I read that one developer of Retro(Maybe not Retro, I think it might have been in reference to MPH)  said he likes to see how fans beat the game. So maybe they'll leave SB's alone.
PAGE BREAKER
Ready and willing.
Ah, hope springs eternal.
I have high hopes for Metroid Prime 3, just as I had for Echoes. I have only been sequence breaking both Prime 1 and 2 for about 3 or 4 months, after playing through the games several times the way they were intended to be played.

Shocked  I know. I missed out on a lot.

Anyways, most people on this forum don't like Metroid Prime 2 very much. One of the biggest reasons why is because of the raised difficulty of sequence breaking and less sequence breaks overall than in the first game. I remember playing Metroid Prime 2 all the way through for the first time, using no sequence breaks (I didn't even know any existed). It was the best game I have ever played (yes, better than the first one), and has been ever since.

I'm not saying I don't want sequence breaking for the upcoming Metroid Prime game. Without sequence breaks, no one would want to watch (or record) a speed run. I think, however, that sequence breaking should not be a rating factor for this series of games; they are all excellent regardless. Sequence breaks would be fun after i've beaten the game once or twice, but the absence of them wont ruin the game for me, and should not ruin it for anyone else.

Even as a launch title for the Wii, I am confident that Metroid Prime 3 will be an excellent game.
it's not that there won't be runs of it without a lot of sequence breaking being in there (look at fusion), it's that the game seems really boring (not a lot of replay value for us) if when you've seen one run, you've seen 'em all. not so with prime.
Yeah, I understand... good speed runs are fun to watch, but without variety, it wont even matter if a newer and faster run were completed along the same route, or something like that.

If your concern is replay value, then maybe Metroid Prime 3 should have some other playable modes (past the traditional "normal" and "hard" modes). Also, maybe there should be one-time side quests that you can choose between that would alter the main quest in a way so that the experience is much different with each playthrough. That way, you can never really get the complete experience with just one playthrough... I don't know about you, but that's enough replay value for me.

Also, I hope that the upcoming game is extremely difficult. It makes me feel really accomplished when I solve some extremely hard puzzle or beat some difficult boss (the boost guardian on hard mode, for example). When a game provides a constant challenge, it really tests the player. I like that kind of game, but, then again, that's just me.

I just hope the controls aren't too awkward...
