i was clearly talking about the way i recorded it, also the tas sucked anyways. i doubt that itspersonnal has as many issues recording it as i have/had.
I am excited that a useless secret world I found years ago can possibly find a home in a TAS route now. Keep it up guys, can't wait to see the final product!
I haven't given up on Metroid just yet, I will be getting a beast computer for TASing I can't wait to set records or at least give you guys an idea of a full run through even if its not up to par with Itspersonal's run through it will still be good for sure
i had to record the video like you do in a normal tas the extra part i did was the really bad part i had to cut out every single fail i did maybe you can imagine how horrible it is to edit every part at the right frame. recording the original tas took about 30% of the work time and editing it about 70% of it so you can imagine how incredibly efficient the way it was. the reason why i cant record the normal way is that it doesnt seem to work no matter what im trying to do.
So um, I broke Metroid Prime. I'll upload a video once I get a chance to, I would upload the dtm and save but Dolphin is having a hard time actually working.
Anyway, I found a way to get almost to dashing speed without actually dashing, I was able to reach 23 speed by just jumping. (rolling [without a hill] caps at around 16-17 and walking speed while holding L is 11.7, just for comparison)
and you can get a lot more with optimization, I'm sure.
Quote from MilesSMB:
Rolling goes up to about 19.8. Also walking with L is ~11.8.
I was just posting the speeds I got with debug mode, maybe I was on a slight uphill when I tested the rolling or something, because it stopped going up at 16.9ish
Yeah, so there is no cap on your sideways speed and if you R jump, then hold R and L and jump the first frame you land, you can keep all your speed, if you let go of R and L once in the air and hold up you'll gain more speed and as long as you press R and L before you land and jump first frame you'll keep all of the speed gained. In this video I didn't optimize speed as much as I could have and I didn't keep gaining speed at the end out of laziness.
Oh yeah it was found a few months ago that you could maintain dash speed by a first frame jump. I don't think they found a way to INCREASE that speed though so that may be new.
i got over 26 at the room with flagraah with Rodeo jumps, i just pressed R a little bit before hitting the ground and tabbed L and B as soon as i hit the ground, then i held R and pressed B and L at the same time before i hit the ground and kept moving on, its very hard to get like over 25 cause youll lose speed on the ground very quickly, but damn 25 is really fast.
Fighting Incinerator Drone today, I shot it with a charge shot, and then shot at a war wasp as I dropped behind ID. A few shots hit the wasp, and a few connected with ID, and it flashed red, symboling it had been hit. Any way to exploit this hitbox for TAS?
