Yep. Not only am I pessimistic, i have loads of free time
Quote from PessimistByNature:
Hello everybody! Sorry I'm late, per usual, no one tells me these things :D
Let's get this part out of the way.
Anyway, I have a feeling that I'm not going to like this much at all. Not to say anyting against it that is, it's just I normally don't like primarily multiplayer games. Also, I highly doubt this will hit the market. To me at least, it's not only screaming technical demonstration, it's holding a big huge sign above it's head saying the same thing. Not to say anything against this acomplishment. I applaud whoever programmed this, it sounds incredibly well done for handheld. Also, even if it does make it on the market, I doubt it will do well. Sure, 16-player multiplayer does sound as if it would sound incredibly attractive if I liked multiplayer. However, the question is, where are you going to find 16 friends to play with? 'Round these parts, I am viewed as something of an oddity, on par with people who do not like rap. I had trouble enough finding people to play the four swords with :( And if it somehow sells a large amount, I have a feeling 2D metroids will be a thing of the past. If they can do it once, what's stopping them from doing it again and again, sucking money from the 2D projects? Let's face it, the Metroid Prime generated rather a bit more income than Metroid: Zero Mission. And Nintendo, is, above all other things, a company.
In summary, I am characteristically pessimistic.

I disagree with the majority of these things ^_^
first and foremost:
get more friends.
likewise, the DS has wi-fi, which means those 16 people don't even have to be on the same hemisphere as you
Tech demo? sure, but thats far more than the PSP had playable.. They needed to prove the system worked, and that it does. The major gameplay things are going to start being in overdrive till system launch.
Bout the 2d comment:
Nintendo is one of the few companies that has never abandoned the 2d roots. Metroid prime has 2d elements, as will prime 2. Likewise, they continue to release 2d Zelda games, even after the series has been 3d and far more successful that way for quite a while. (Hell, they even released a 2d zelda game on the cube!)
Likewise, they have 2 new mario 2d games coming out this year, (Mario and donkey kong, Super Mario Bros DS)
