Today at E3, it seems a new Metroid game was announced, one for the Nintendo DS (now we all have to buy another system Rolling Eyes)! One title I've heard is, Metroid Prime Hunters. The game features graphics just like Metroid Prime!

Here is what Nintendo has said:

Quote from Nintendo:
Metroid Prime: Hunters: This amazing first-person battle game uses wireless technology to connect up to four players simultaneously (in the E3 demo version). Each player gets a Metroid suit of a different color, and then tries to destroy the three opponents. Touch the stylus to the bottom screen to rotate the camera, aim and fire, or to transform into a Morph Ball. The game features the same artwork, sound, graphics, architecture and ambience found in the huge hit Metroid Prime.

Sounds like they've gone shooter on us... :? Oh well, it's Metroid! :)

What does everyone think?
Thread title:
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
Kind of a "meh."  Not overall too interesting, but worth looking into, I suppose.
It looks N64ish... maybe we'll be impressed with the final results though
It looked to me that the screens were of a multiplayter match. If so, it could be a multiplayer only game like Four Swords. And then they throw in another game with it...another game like Super Metroid! Ugh...but it's just wishful thinking.
Looks pretty boring to me.
I think it's gonna be a disgrace to the series.

I would like to propose a terrible oath that can never be broken, lest our genitals rot.  May none of us loyal Metroid fans ever play that game.  I don't care if it turns out awesome, I already hate it.
I managed to get ahold of a (Very) high quality video of the game in action.

It actually is VERY smooth, looks pretty damn interesting.  I'm curious to see how it works out.

not to mention, its *16* person multiplayer handheld wireless goodness.

That ranks with the stupidest gaming quotes I have ever seen. Ever heard of an open mind? That's the exact same comment some people made when Nintendo talked about Wind Waker's new look or MP's style. Do you think they were justified now?

It's very possible that this game could suck, but it's equally possible that it could remain faithful to the series, and be a great game. If you don't like it when it comes out, fine. But until then, stay open to the possibilities. 'K?

I STILL can't figure out why the heck people adopt this kind of attitude. Don't hate something that doesn't exist yet, just because... becaue what? It's multiplayer?

Some people are just born pessimists, that's all.  :P
I wonder how PessimistByNature feels about it.
PessimistByNature would probably like it. I think pessimists usually think bad things about stuff that's gonna happen to them. And personally Blob, I wouldn't diss it right away. I don't think it's all that good, but heck when I saw the Prime beta shots, I thought "Add one to the E.T. heap!"
It's not the pessism that gets me, it's his stubborn insistance that: "I don't care if it turns out awesome, I already hate it." To dismiss a game forever because you don't like the format, regardless of reviews, is to limit yourself.
I dont care how the game turns out, I just care how much the ,Gameboy DS, is gona cost, if that's the name of it.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
I don't think a map is exactly the best use of the dual screen setup... that's kind of a lazy way to use it. But it looks like they're using the touch screen for beam switching/morphing, so that's a plus.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
Just remember if you already love it, you are doing the exact same thing he is.

And reviews mean 0 to some people.
Amen.  Game reviews are incredibly annoying.  All I trust are peoples own personal experiences, and my own.

Reviews don't help when you mainly import and have played the game long before a review is up..

That's true. Personally, I'm feeling pessimistic about the game, but I don't want to dismiss it just because it's different.
I find that reviews often work for me, but it's also true that personal experience is the only final judge.

It looks N64ish...

Because the power of the DB is something between the N64 and the GCN.
I don't like how it looks like. :| I hope the final screens are going to be much better.

I think it'll be a game like MIIRoS, you just need to hunt Samus clones or something like that instead of Metroids.

It makes me sick that a Metroid game for a handheld isn't going to be a 2D Metroid...
Maybe we'll never see a 2D Metroid again >.<
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
It's a multiplayer only game, not a whole new adventure. I'm not sure if they're just showing off DS's capabilities with it or if they actually intend to release it, but don't be expecting a complete adventure. it's just multiplayer.

Are you a moron?  Can you not see the subtle sarcasm that saturates my post?  Thanks for ruining it.

P.S. I realize it seemed to be a serious post, I was just giving you a hard time.  Coo? coo.

Ohhhhhh. You = forgiven. Next time, use Devil Smileys... they do a good job of indicating sarcasm.
I'm not gonna quote that becuase I hate quote tunnels. (yes, even THE quote tunnel)  I will take your advice from now on.  I may even get the game just because I love metroid (I don't care if it sucks!)
To me, No Metroid games Suck. All of them I consisder great games.
