What? Is there a Metroid game that sucks? *cough*Fusion*cough* I like them all, but I dislike Fusion. For it's story time in the elevators, and it is too strate forward.

don't hate on fusion :( fusion is still an awesome game, just not a "real metroid game". Think of it as an adventure/action platformer, and you'll notice it's actually one of the best games on the GBA. :P

I diagree. Mario and Luigi is a much better game than Fusion. So is Zero Mision. I don't say it's a total flop, but It could have been a lot better in the sense of exploration.
Personally, I doubt I'll like it. The Metroid DS game is exactly what people were afraid Metroid Prime would be: yet another bloody First Person Shooter. Metroid Prime avoided that, and the whole boring "deathmatch" nonesense.
I don't much like FPS games, if I'm going to blow my friends away I prefer to do so with paintballs. The whole: run in circles, grab ammo, frag your friends, type of game bores me. The weirdest thing is that since Metoid features unlimited ammo (except for missiles), either they're going to have to alter the game, or cut out one of the bigger aspects of playing FPS games. Either way, I predict a flop. The market for FPS games is saturated, this game will be competing with Half-Life 2, Doom III, etc. I don't see a bright future here.
Note: I'm not saying "FPS games sux and only l00zerz play 'em!" If you like FPS, that's fine, but its not my cup of tea, and a Metroid styled FPS has pretty much zero appeal to me.
in another one of my joyous videos, i actually saw someone playing the game using the stylus on the show floor.
Its very interesting actually. looks far better than i thought it would be. graphics are VERY VERY smooth on this game, looks far better than an n64 game. The way you shoot is by tapping the lower screen very fast, it does shoot where your tapping, but of course, he was tapping in the general area of another samus.
Who then proceeded to roll into ball form and get the hell away before unmorphing and shooting back.
There IS a single player mode, but i honestly have no idea what its about, eitherway, the controls look quite nice. i'm curious to see how it works out.
you move with the d-pad (duh) you use L to lock on. which is mainly just for strafing purposes you drag the stylus around the outside of the screen to turn and look, you tap the stylus somewhere near the middle and you fire there. Hold down in the middle to charge.
You tap the icons in the bottom left/right corner (morph ball, missiles i believe) and you do either of those actions.
Hmmm... I think the stylus system is going to be really hard to adapt to (for me at least). I never bought a Palm for that reason alone. Anyways, the graphics are obviously quite good, and if the system is affordable i MIGHT buy this game, but Metroid has never struck me as a series that would translate well into multiplayer, especially deathmatch types.
Screenshots don't do it justice, I've seen vids. Very fluid movement... Apparently the stylus/touchpad control the shooting and targeting and the control pad for forward/backward movement and morph/unmorph the 4 (I think its 4) buttons to the right handle beams and such... It's gonna be interesting I'll tell ya that
I can see the DS be round SP price range with a slight GBA price drop, otherwise a little more than the SP... I doubt it'll be pricier than the GC
Just remember that Fusion set the way for Zero Mission. We may not even HAVE ZM without Fusion!
I disliked two things about fusion - One the fixed Path. I like my Metroid games where you get lost every 5 minutes. I think that was mostly fixed with the hints in ZM that you can avoid.
Hello everybody! Sorry I'm late, per usual, no one tells me these things :D
Let's get this part out of the way.
Anyway, I have a feeling that I'm not going to like this much at all. Not to say anyting against it that is, it's just I normally don't like primarily multiplayer games. Also, I highly doubt this will hit the market. To me at least, it's not only screaming technical demonstration, it's holding a big huge sign above it's head saying the same thing. Not to say anything against this acomplishment. I applaud whoever programmed this, it sounds incredibly well done for handheld. Also, even if it does make it on the market, I doubt it will do well. Sure, 16-player multiplayer does sound as if it would sound incredibly attractive if I liked multiplayer. However, the question is, where are you going to find 16 friends to play with? 'Round these parts, I am viewed as something of an oddity, on par with people who do not like rap. I had trouble enough finding people to play the four swords with :( And if it somehow sells a large amount, I have a feeling 2D metroids will be a thing of the past. If they can do it once, what's stopping them from doing it again and again, sucking money from the 2D projects? Let's face it, the Metroid Prime generated rather a bit more income than Metroid: Zero Mission. And Nintendo, is, above all other things, a company.

In summary, I am characteristically pessimistic.
Did you really have to write all that? When you were going to sum it up anyways?
