Hey guys, what's going on in...here...
*Walks away

I thought ZM was at 19, RoS at 22.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Using outside material to determine the... ugh, canon of a video game series is really dumb.

lol no way
But I mean if you're going to use any material to try to determine a videogame series's canon, there's not much better place to look than the official manga. Though I guess now I'm getting curious how official that all was when it was printed, patronised or just endorsed by nintendo.
I find the age discussion as amusing and baffling as people discussing what Samus' height is.
Only reason I figured the manga was worth anything is because it was canon last I knew, at least before Other M came out. (Who knows how much of it still remains part of the canon these days with the retcons that have occurred since 2002.) I don't see what's wrong with using it to help us here, since it still has influence on the series to some degree.

And seriously, what's so bad about discussing these kinds things anyway? I don't see the problem with it.
I don't really see a point in it.  Although age is more valid than height IMO.

The games seem like a better place.

Basically, if it's not important enough to put in a game then or make readily available to those outside of on country then there is no reasonable expectation of anyone giving a shit. It cannot make your argument any more valid than one based on the source. If the source doesn't say than it's not important and can be left to the fanfiction writers.
ANKOKU
"Giving a shit" and "Where you get the information" are two wholly different things tbob.

Just because we look outside of what's readily available, to what has been published, and allowed, by the creator of the game, doesn't mean it's now pointless information.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
It pretty much is though.

You win tbob. Your mind-fuckery and absence of logic has me wondering what the hell your point was and why you were trying to make it.

I concede.
Hitting the B button with the wiimote sideways would be fucking stupid. that's not how I hold it at all.
lol no way

The minus button, anyone?

they should have at least used it as a missile selction during gameplay instead of just leaving it alone which the only part i hated about the controls...
I too have to admit that I enjoy the controls very much but everything was just full of shit.

According to the Super Metroid Player's Guide, which is totally canon, 6'3"

You forget the minus button is the most important button in the game. The cutscene skipping button.
my umbrella goes directly to Bankai
i thought the "a few years later" part at the end of the manga would put Samus at the correct age in the games (20 years or above) since zebes itself is very changed and it takes some years for that kind of change. i guess people didn't read it to the end....

I'm not even kidding. My fingers claw round towards my body, almost perpendicular. Hitting that B button would be an arse pain, moreso than pointing at the screen. I can do it fine with the MKWii adapter, but that's designed to enable people like me to do it. Without something similar, Nintendo wouldn't be fulfilling it's aim to make the control scheme pretty universal and accessible for everyone.

But everyone with a wii has a nunchuck so there's no excuse there.

I can see why the Classic Controller wasn't used, but some options should've been provided.  It's not a failure as a developer to give players a choice in controls.  Nunchuck option should've been provided even though I had no problems with just the Wiimote.
lol no way
Oh whoops, that was misinterpreted. I happen to agree on the point that hitting the B button while holding the wiimote sideways would be an annoying situation, and I don't really think any of the buttons were misused. The control scheme didn't allow for an obvious way to use missiles, other than using - like select and giving you a HUD selector like SM (and MZM to that little extent).
red chamber dream
well they could have you know, just used the fucking nunchuk

It makes absolutely no sense not to, except they were going for that NES feel, which they completely missed because of that depth dimension they put in there.

Yes, and from that we can calculate that her speed while doing a shinespark is about 156 kilometers per hour. Someone needs to jot this down in the canon ASAP!
Nope, sorry. Samus' shinespark speed can't go above 142 kph or else she breaks the time barrier! Can't have Samus going back in time now, can we? (For the record, 142 kph is a little more than 88 mph, and the Power Suit likely has equivalent parts to the BTTF DeLorean, right?)

I'm sorry, but Samus height is 6.3 feet = 1.92024 meters. Her height in game is 39 pixels, and her max speed is 15 pixels per frame. At 60 frames per second and 216000 frames per hour she moves 83076.923 body lengths, or 158045.538 meters, or ~158 kilometers every hour. That's right, I just knocked up her speed by 2 kilometers just like that (by not converting feet to meters slightly wrong). Your mind is blown, the show is over. Math bitches.
You know I was joking, right? I thought you had just pulled that number out of thin air, not actually done the math on it based on one of the games.

Sad thing is, I could see myself finding out something like this in a similar manner if I put enough effort into it.
