-I am very happy with this. Many things working very well. I lose still whole 5 minutes my segmented run.
Good spots: -Kraid quick kill is done. -I manage norfair gate hater -Phantoon avarage 4 round. Much better than my previous 100% SS run battle. -Nice Spore W/O crystal flash trick without dying -Draygon MAX round, but too much fly attacks -Early spring ball trick without dying. -No major mistakes here. I get gauntlet items without dying. I am very happy with this too. :P This is so nasty trick very end of the game.
Bad spots. -Only single mistake was Maridia main street missiles took 10-15 seconds too much time to get -Lot little mistakes -No much risk: *I get wrecked ship ET with gravity suit. This took 12-15 more seconds, but it is much easier use that with SS run *No barrier glitch. This not make game much faster on 100% run. I miss that always once or twice my any-% SS run. I don,t use that this time *No MB murder beam.
Anyway. This is 3 minutes faster than my previous 100% SS run.
In last week i have much time play Super Metroid. I did two new my personal any-% time record.
****************************** [PAL-versio] Best time: 0.43 Best time single segment: 0.45 ******************************
Segmented 43 run comments: -12 segments (11-save) -27% items (5et 30m 15sm, 5pb) -2 minutes faster than previous time
-I was very happy with this. There is no much new trick: -I less saves -Gate hater & pillar room shine spark jump is done here -Phantoon very fast 4 round battle -Botwoon charge beam only -Draygon hotarubi style
My sub times_ 0.01 crateria 0.10 green norfair 0.12 before ice beam 0.13 red brinstar 0.16 Wrecked ship 0.20 before Botwoon 0.24 After Draygon 0.27 Before Ridley lair 0.28 Before Ridley 0.34 S-A ship 0.37 Tourian before MB 0.43 Clear time.
This is not too high 43. I think less than 43.30. Sometimes i can beat 5 minutes last segment. But i think it is impossible right now.
Single segment: 0.45************************************
-32% items (5et, 1rt, 45m, 20sm, 5pb) I started run this very fast. -Kraid quick kill is done -Gate hater is done -Almost all working very well.
There is two very bad part. Phantoon battle suck. I beat very slow 4 round battle. I miss couple shots and i have bad manipulate eye open luck. -Barrier glitch suck. I need get out 2 times away. This cost me 30 seconds -No MB murder beam here. Barrier glitch drain enought my energy. It is too risk use that.
-avarage speed was very good. Some little mistakes. I was bit cautions before Ridley, because i skip that energy tank.
Why don't you learn 2-round? Or at the very least, 3-round, since it isn't any tougher than 4-round... just faster.
3-round is pointless IMO. You need lot charge loading and this take time. i think 3 round is as fast as 4 round IMO. 4 round is very easy My 4 round method is fast enought 1-Wave charge +3missile 2-Wave charge +3 missile 3-Wave charge +3 missile 4-Wave charge +2missile +SM
I don,t need charge loading time and i can manipulate near perfect eye opens. When boss eye open this is only charge what i need.
Why i don,t use 2 round? I am too lazy practice that timing. I am trying that couple times and i timed my PB shield always totally wrong. When i miss that i need start my game in red brinstar.

Stutter walk spamming missiles is your friend ;] Blindly mashing the forward button and blindly mashing the shoot button. Atleast that is how I 2-rounded Phantoon.
The eye openings depend on the frame you enter the room and the frames you hit him; they can't be elicited, as far as I've been told.
3-round is definitely faster than 4-round, since the wait between rounds can be anywhere from 5 to 15 seconds. (Estimate) Charging twice doesn't even take 5 seconds.
2-round isn't as difficult as it seems. After hitting him with two charged wave/spazer shots, pause the screen, turn off spazer, and hold shoot to charge immediately. His location in the room when the screen goes completely black is reversely proportional to where you need to be when the combo goes off. So, if he is on the far left of the room when you pause, he'll be on the far right (after leaving and coming back) when it goes off. The PAL timing of the combo is different though, but you shouldn't have much trouble experimenting with that concept to find the timing. Tonski didn't.
I remember the first time in my whole short life then I tried the 2 round, I got it first try, and I'm not kidding. It was like 90% luck but I got it first time in my whole life when I tried it.
But getting it consistant? I actually did have troubles with that, the ways you told me back then wouldn't work on PAL of course because of the version differences I assume, so I had to figure the whole thing out myself. It took me numerous restarts and tries and a good few hours to get it to work 50% of the time, but when I got it consistant I did it in multiple SS runs which always felt great. These days it's either Ridley or Phantoon where my SS runs end, sadly. I never thought I'd become this bad speedrunner.
And it's also true that the first eye opening is always decided when you enter Phantoon's room. The later openings might depend on the frames you hit him.

I remember my 100% run. All 4 eye opens in less than 5 seconds. This was amazing 4 round battle and i don,t miss any shots. Almost as well i play that my any-% run. Every else eye open less than 5 seconds expect one took probably bit over 5 seconds. But anyway no miss shots here.
3 round battle you need charge couple times per round it took always same more time than perfect 4 round battle IMO. +I have sometimes bit trouble make 3 round battle, i miss that very easily. 3 round is at most 3 seconds faster than 4 round i think, but i like use 4 round because it is easier. Pronbably if i learn somedays 2 round i use that.
This is new. You mean eye open depend frame you enter the door? I always think this is 100% luck how fast boss open his eyes. that,s true this was only battle in hotarubi run what you can improve even 45 seconds.
Perhaps you misunderstand the definition of Frame, or at least have a hard time understanding the length of 1/60 of a second. You can't exactly count to 60 every second you're playing. To say you can get a perfect fight in any sort of consistency is just ridiculous. Sure, there's no such thing as luck, but considering the miniscule probability of a quick eye-opening, it's safer to just say it's luck and move on.
When did Master say he can get perfect fights with consistency? Or that he has gotten a perfect Phantoon fight?
Also, saying there's no such thing as luck feels kinda ignorant. If TASers call it luck manipulation there has to be something to manipulate, and it's luck. When playing on console it's pure luck about Phantoon's first eye opening since it depends on the frame you enter his room and you can't surely know when to enter the best nor can you time the entering on 1 frame precision.
Perhaps one of us have a faulty definition of "luck." I had defined it previously as an outside force that favors or disfavors people for obscure reasons not at all related to the current objective.
Jagger means that luck is just a layman term to describe pseudorandomness, that can be controlled when you have everything in your hands to do it — which is not the case here, hence why it's just "luck".
I have a few questions regarding 100% segmented run on PAL, I just started one.
First I'd really like to apply the realtime Gauntlet spark into my run, does it work exactly the same on PAL? I mean you fire diagonally right up at that place that BlueGlass's smv showed? (can't remember which topic in)
Second, do you think that sub hour is possible with having 29 min before Botwoon?
Third, if all the waiting scenes are slower on PAL-version (Cpadolf proved this, right?) and it adds like 3,5mins in any% run, does this time added increase while there are more scenes in 100% run and the run is longer overall? Like the LN Chozo Statue and Golden Torizos falling/awakening for example.

Of course 100% run is more slower than 3,5 minutes. Nobody not can know how much more. I guess there is 5-6 minutes difference, because run is almost twice longer. If you can get 1.00-01 it looks lot Red scarlet i think. Under hour requires lot skills and new trick. Looks 52 US-versio
I think you not can get under hour right now. I know Red scarlet time before Botwoon was 28 minutes. She are collect all Crateria items and X-ray scope. I think you can get pretty close hour. You have minutes ahead my 1.05 PAL 100% Finland record run. You can get at least 1.02-03 if you are really fast.
I don,t know much about gauntlet shinespark trick. Is this human possible on console? I don,t never see that. Good luck your run Tonski.
I never proved anything. I can go and make some tests though, if I get time to I could do it today.
EDIT: Ok now I naturally did not have time nor patience to try every event in the game but I did some tests to justify my earlier statements. And yes they are true. Most of the things I tested where faster on NTSC, the whole ceres ridley part, landing on zebes, loading a save, kraid rising, the waiting period between hitting kraids eye till he opens his mouth and so on. The reason for this is logical, many things in the game has a frame counter that starts when it is needed, for example in the Torizo room a counter goes of after you pick up the bombs, when it has run out the door closes. After which a new counter starts and when it runs out the battle starts. And after he is dead yet another one starts and when it has run out the grey door starts flashing. And from what I can tell Nintendo did not change the values of any of these counters when making the PAL version which in short means that a large quantity of things takes x/0.83333 seconds on PAL whereas they only take x seconds on NTSC.
This should includes even more things than I first thought, such as the aforementioned waiting period between Kraid's eye getting hit and his mouth opening and enemies dropping item refills. Also all cooldown values are the same so shooting anything or charging your beam takes longer.
And I bumped in to one little weird fact when testing the loadsave time on both versions which I do not know if it is known. The time between the "do you want to save" message and the "game saved" message is not saved, when you load the game after a save it begins to count from the time at the "do you want to save" message.
