anyone know how to do this?  i remember doing it awhile back, but i'm not sure if that was after the fight or before.  This time, it's before the fight and the game keeps freezing trying to load omega pirate's room.  looks like ppc and omega's room are too big to load one without manually dumping the other, but i can't for the life of me figure out where the trigger is to load omega's room.  I fear it might be inside the room boundaries.

any tips?
Thread title:
If your goal is to get to OP from behind, have you tried to unmorph through the ceiling on the energy tank's side ? I've never tried it but it might work.

i've tried, but not successfully.  the problem there is that there are two boundaries for this room.  there is the box-shaped walls that you see when you're inside the room, but there's also a rocky/phazony outer wall that most of the tunnels in phazon mines have.  whenever i try to unmorph into the room i end up in the outer section, and haven't yet found a way to get to the inner section.

I have tried that, too! Not the easiest thing.
If the inner boundary is box-shaped, there's probably no way to get through it. If you can't dump ppc, I don't see any other way. With a little hope, the dumping trigger might be between the outer and the inner boundaries. But I bet you've already tried that one too.

What are you up to bartendorsparky? I mean, I'm glad to see that you are still playing this game but, I'm sure you have got to have something up your sleeve, especially with a question like this.

BTW, I just watched your practice run again. There were only a few moments in the run that reminded me that you were human...

i'm toying around with early plasma routes and such.  in particular here, magmoor -> ppc -> omega -> main pb -> phazon elite would be really cool.  the wallcrawl to phazon elite from omega research only takes a bit and is definitely faster than fighting thardus.  the plasma wallcrawl can be done pretty quickly, but there's only a few options for decent save points so you don't have to go flaahgra -> wild -> plasma -> wave -> ice in a single segment...  if this wallcrawl can be done i don't think it's a stretch to make a route ~1.5-2 minutes faster at least (which as far as i'm concerned makes :59 theoretically easy).

basically, for the first time in years i expect to have reasonable free time this summer, so i wanna finally get around to this.

Sweet, I'm glad to hear that you have some free time. It seems like a lot of good speed-runners come out of the woodwork in the summer months. I can't wait to see what that means for MP.

That's a pretty novel route there. Let us know if there is any progress on the wall crawling. I, like many others, would love to see a sub 1hr run, even if it involves SWs.

Hell yes! If you want help testing anything at all for your run, send me an im or something. I'd love to aide in any way  i can, if you need.. Go Sparky go!

haven't been able to figure out the wallcrawl.  every route i could think up with early plasma or ibbf is slower unless this can be done, unless i overlooked something.  i'm tired of trying this over and over so i'm gonna try a low segmented run to see how easy/hard it is to match the testrun.  i have a hunch it'll be easier considering all the wasted time finding save points, but we'll see.  plan on basically following the test run route, saving at the ship 3 times and then after ridley.  once a couple things come in the mail i'll hopefully be able to start recording stuff.

can anyone remember if there are any other routes or things that i forgot about that were decided to [probably] be faster?
Uhm, exactly what SW are you wallcrawling from? I don't see any that are possibly viable or quick

A video say's more than a thousand words ;-) I have a low% save in Phazon before pb. (@11%).  So, i can't wait to see\attempt the new ideas you'll undoubtedly be bringing to the table.

Only three saves before Ridley; sounds like crazy fun.

Wallcrawlng from elite quarters or whatever.  I'll put up a video when stuff gets here if anyone wants to try and figure it out.

Sorry, but just to clarify, are you going to go for low% or just a low number of segments? I think a run w/ only 4 segments would be awesome, not to mention gutsy.

Just did some loose timing, via stopwatch.  Looks like you can go from central dynamo to the cutscene after killing phazon elite in at least 3:20 without spiderball.  Requires lots of wether jumping.  Various other things turning out much faster than I expected leave me with somewhat concrete evidence that ibbf route entering and leaving mines through the front is about a minute faster.  Thus, change of plans like usual and tentatively I'll go for that first until something else comes up.  Omit just the very obvious mistakes from the testrun and change the route, and that's 1:00 right there.  Do it a little better and it's :59. At the moment it doesn't seem too unreasonable.

don't have enough experience with wallcrawling this part of the game to be of much help but i'm very excited to see whatever comes out of this.

here's videos of the wallcrawls to phazon elite and omega pirate:

it might be too dark to really see though... not sure.  anyway, the bomb jump into vent shaft can sometimes be made on the first attempt, without falling back down a little bit, but i'm not sure what triggers whether you make it or not.  also, the play quality in both is not very good, but hopefully it's good enough to help somebody who doesn't know how to do it.  also, loading omega pirate's room works because he's already dead.  otherwise, it freezes (ideally there is some way around this though).

edit: also, forgot to mention.  to get the room after vent shaft to load, you have to kill the elite pirate beforehand.

beep boop.  would've been < 2:01 but i got shot by the last pirate.  oh well.  maybe next time.

edit: next part came quick

those wall crawls are really amazing sparky. I lost all patience trying to find my way through to those areas. and also damn sparky you haven't lost a beat looking at those first two segments. Amazing as usual!

thanks tate.

the whole wha/wh/wha bit went pretty miserable, but i.drone was very generous (1:04), so that's alright.

next part will take awhile.  still gotta figure out the best way to do it, it's hard, and i'm pretty busy for the next couple days.

Wow, I've been away for some time, and this is something I have least expected to see!

How does this run compare to your previous attempt, sparky? I have no idea how to time Prime runs precisely… On that note, how does it compare to Zoid's 1:03?

Really looking forward to your progress. :)
always move fast
i'm save at 10:09, whereas in the previous run i was saved at about 10:42.5 in the testrun.  this time i didn't unlock the door after i.drone though, which takes something like 25 seconds.  play quality wise, i'm about 8.5 seconds better than my last run.  not sure of the segment times on zoid's 1:03, so i can't say in regard to that.
If you've managed to save that much already, improving Zoid's run by 2-3 minutes should well be within the realm of possibility. Very impressive!
looks great so far, keep it up... might see if i can make that wallcrawl work sometime tonight
I fuckin love you sparky
